After having looked for a teardown video on these since basically when they came out, finally I had a good enough reason to take mine apart - I installed a tiny Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter Module in it: a guide for that I'll upload shortly.
If you have any questions, or a better way of doing this, feel free to post down in the comments :)

Excellent video with great tips and warnings! The headphone jack on mine doesn’t work so this will really help me! Much appreciated!

Glad I could help ! It's gonna be a bitch getting a "stock" looking fix, since the thing needs to tell the main board when to turn the amp on ... and that mechanism is optical You sure there's not just some dirt in it preventing it from realizing shit's plugged in ?

but it is not headphone jack. it is line in not out :) I have probably some cold solder joints issiues with mine but i stick with it without teardown. It boders me only time to time on summer

Darieee I am quite sure, but not 100% certain. I’m finally just about to get into it, so I guess I’ll start with checking for dirt and stuff. Good tip, thanks for that 👍🏾

My advise pour some ipa under when lifting the cover, it makes the glue like jelly and it comes off easy. Nice vid though man

one of my speakers finally went out, any recommendations on what speaker will work good?

As a replacement? Mmm, try finding broken iPod Hi Fis ... those are super custom 3 screw drivers ... doubt you'll find anything that'll fit

So mine works OK for 3 to 5 minutes (on AC power), and then it quits. The green and amber lights continue to work, but I'm guessing that it is the power supply that quits when it warms up. Any idea where I can buy a new power supply? I think that Liteon made the original, but I can't find it anywhere.

Hey man, I have a Hi-Fi that has been working wonderfully for the past ten years but yesterday as I was playing music using the AUX cord the sound suddenly went out and the touch controls started acting wonky, then a non-stop clicking noise started coming out of the speakers and it wouldn't stop unless I unplugged the power cord. Now every time I plug it back in the clicking sound begins again and I can't use it. Any idea how to fix this? :( I love this speaker

stop plugging it in for a start - it's really unhappy the power supply went out -- take it apart, and either try and fix that yourself, or take the supply board to a local electronics repair shop - they're 99% of the time easy fixes if it hasn't been powered by the broken supply for too long, chances are good that everything downstream is fine (should be an easy fix since something seems to have failed catastrophically in your case, since it went bust from one moment to another)

I got mine working last week. Fortunately, the power supply and amp were OK. I had to connect through the AUX as the 30 pin dock had been removed. The HiFi comes up in dock mode, I had to pair an Apple Remote with it to switch to AUX. I was thinking about connecting the audio and power through the dock cable since there is 12V, but don't have a pinout for the internal cable. Anyone here have that?
@Darieee
@Darieee 5 лет назад
There is a dirty and inelegant workaround to having that pinout .. There's various 30pin female to whatever ... maybe you could buzz it out like that? Or on the solder points of the male 30pin?
@tomkarches7032

@@Darieee Someone physically removed the 30 pin dock from this iPod HiFi . There is just a hole where it used to be. I do have the cable that connects the dock to the amplifier board, so if I had the pinout, I could connect directly to the cable.

hi guys, I have problems with my iPod. There is no sound, no lights, no reaction when plugging the jack...nothing. ;( I opened my iPod HiFi and couldn't find nothing broken. Would you give me a hint how to find out which component is broken? Thanks a lot.

Check the voltages on the power supply
@leinadkcah5273
@leinadkcah5273 6 лет назад
already did it. It's ok.
@Darieee
@Darieee 6 лет назад
Do they stay at the right voltages when you try and use it ? Perhaps the main board drawing current makes a rail go down
@leinadkcah5273
@leinadkcah5273 6 лет назад
Darieee Hi, sorry there is no current on the main board.
@Darieee
@Darieee 6 лет назад
well, you could then be looking at a faulty main board ..

the full range drivers are enclosed while the woofer is ported?
@Darieee
@Darieee 5 лет назад
Yup, they don't move much, and benefit from a different volume of enclosure - it's also full of damping material in there Also, you would hear a distorted, barrely sound if all 3 speakers would share the same space
@crazycommunistcosmonaut1988
@crazycommunistcosmonaut1988 5 лет назад
Also do you think the front plate could of been screwed in using the 4 holes and some plastic clips around the edges?
@Darieee
@Darieee 5 лет назад
I don't get your question now You can see exactly how it's screwed in -- there's 8 screws and no clips
@crazycommunistcosmonaut1988

Im talking about the piece you had to heatup to unbond
@Darieee
@Darieee 5 лет назад
Oh, .. mmm .. probably, but it'd not look that nice - I just used a bit of sanitary silicone Take a lot of time to dry (12 hours ? probably way less is fine too), and it dries rubbery, and tears quite easily, so, perfect for this kind of application
