Apple Is Killing The Butterfly Keyboard - Why it HAD To Die! 

I have used the butterfly keyboard since it came out on the original MacBook. My wife did inherit the MacBook and the keyboard still works fine. I just got the new 2019 MacBook pro 15" and I really like the keyboard on it. I do think that it is the best laptop keyboard I have used and it's only beaten by my unicomp type M desktop keyboard. This is my personal taste though but I do think that the number of people having problems with the butterfly keyboard is lower than it appears online as people like me that have had no problems don't tend to make posts about it.

Now I feel obliged to wait till 2020 to get MacBook cuz any purchase now will reduce the reselling price significantly!! :(

I used the butterfly keyboard in the Apple store. I enjoy it, I like the short travel and I am more accurate when typing for some reason.

I’ve said it before on previous videos but the Butterfly Keyboard (couple with the T2 crashes) was pretty much the catalyst I needed to switch completely to an iOS workflow. While the latest MacBook Air & Pros look like great computers, I get all my work done really well on the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9”. I actually like Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio & because it’s completely enclosed by fabric, I don’t have to worry about dust or liquids getting inside. If I need a more traditional keyboard, I have an old Magic Keyboard I had from an older computer that still works great & can connect via Bluetooth but mostly I stick to the Folio. And if I need a desktop experience, my hubby has a Surface & I also have access to a Windows PC at my work (albeit it’s terrible as most bulk order work IT departments don’t order the best of the best for employees). But iOS is clean & stable & iPadOS has completely transformed my iPad Pro. I’ll probably go back to MacOS someday, especially when they ditch the Butterfly Keyboard & swap Intel for their own A-series chips. But until then, I’m living in the iOS/iPadOS ecosystem & couldn’t be happier.

all this time, I had no clue what people meant by butterfly keyboard. Now after that intro, it helped explain it. And ironically. When you said bezel less display, I thought maybe someday we will see a bezel less keyboard. Or some touch screen keyboard. Until you quoted one reviewer who hated the butterfly keyboard, cause it felt like typing on a touch screen phone.

Haven't had any experience with the "buttfly kyboad," but I'm about to get a new MacBook, and this video reassures me somewhat, that I don't have to wait for next year's models. Thanks! Fred

I have the 2016 MBP 13 and I have never had a keyboard issue yet, and I really like this keyboard typing on it is some much nicer than my work surface pro 4. I hope Apple in their new design keeps some of the traits of the butterfly keyboard.

I've seen many tech videos on RU-vid complaining about the butterfly keyboard breaking. 2019 I can not recommend any Apple Macbook laptop until Apple goes back to the scissor switch keyboard. I like macOS better than Windows. I think the Apple Macbook is a very great laptop aside from the butterfly keyboard.

Do you know why the MacBook Pro 16 " isn’t came at the same time than the 13"??

Hey man ! I kind of need a new computer for my studies, I was thinking of getting the new mac book air with the back to school offer (in France we have minus 10% on any laptop, so it goes down pretty low). The problem is, I don’t know if waiting is a better idea. Do you think that when they upgrade the macbook lineup with the removal of the butterfly keyboard, the macs will turn more expensive ? Or will the price range remain static ? Also, do you know how long the back to school offer will last ? I saw the free Beats is only until September, but the -10%, do you know if it’s an infinite promotion or if it will not be there anymore when the new macbooks come out ?

It was sad that it caused problems to people. It was almost perfect for thinness.

I’m happy about that switch so i can finally upgrade from my MacBook Pro 13 late 2013 to the next one without the butterfly keyboard. The only butterfly keyboard i tried that wasn’t in a apple store was from a MacBook pro 13 2017 while i was trying to fix it and i hated that keyboard. It turned out that the 2017 MBP had an smc issue that would heavily downclock the cpu. I don’t know what the clock speeds were sonce the MacBook was so slow it was impossible to check it but it probably was around 1-90 mhz for it to be that slow

So should I buy the macbook air 2019 (with the back 2 school action) for next school year or should I wait? 🤔

The clicking sound of butterfly keyboard just drive me mad When I sitting in Starbucks and people next to me using a MacBook which using butterfly keyboard, even my Sony noise cancelling headphones can’t protect me from that voice, far more terrible than screaming of Nazgul to me

I‘m gonna get myself a Mac Book soon and I already decided what I wanted to get but now seeing the new ones that will probably come in 2020, i‘m not sure anymore. Do you think there will be a Mac Book Air 15“ or 16“? Also do you think After Effects video editing is possible on the Mac Book Air or does it take very long to import videos?

I dont know if i should by the 1499$ Macbook Pro or wait to the keyboard is fixed next year.. isn’t Apple most likely to set the entry level price of the new Macbook in 2020 at a higher price than the 2019 Pro models?

I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro with DIY upgrades to 1tb SSD and 16gb Ram. New to me but old to some (I had a 2007 MacBook Pro for 9 yrs till it gave out on me). Till apple get their act together since they got rid of ports and replaced them with USB-Cs and I do find the screens on the newer Macs impressive...I'm not gonna push money to something that might plunge me into a stooper. Why make a MacBook Pro so thin? When something like the butterfly keyboard was ever a good idea to begin with? Were they ever tested? And I heard Apple is soldering SSDs to the new Mac line ups now? That is where I'm skeptical of ever purchasing a new Apple product. They've already soldered the Rams.

if future is with scissor keyboard, will apple replace butterfly keyboards with scissor keyboards for the current macbooks? I wonder if its even technically possible 🧐😤🙈🤷🏽‍♂️

Hooray! I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to get a new MacBook Pro (a big one close to what I have been using for almost 10 years now. I am still rocking my mid 2010 17” MacBook Pro & it still works perfectly. I would however like to be able to upgrade it and I would still like a larger laptop so maybe a 16.5” will motivate me to get a new one. The old keyboard never skipped a beat! Come to think of it I still have my iMac 2007 that has the same kind of keyboard and it still works great too so maybe they should go back to that one! Thanks Greg for another helpful video!

I like the butterfly keyboard. I just ordered the new Macbook a week ago, but its still in Hong Kong :( It was originally suppose to delivered today but they changed it to Monday now cuz UPS doesnt work on weekends at all aparently 😭

You really need to learn how to control where ads come in. The ads always cut you off mid-statement making your videos not enjoyable.and makes people unsubscribe
