Spotify vs Apple Music - the kings of music streaming, but which one is better in 2024? The answer is probably not what you think 🤫 #applemusic #spotify #music #apple #tech
I've had both side by side for over a year, but I always found myself using Apple Music more because it sounds A LOT better in my Airpods, the UI is more aesthetically pleasing and isn't cluttered with a bunch of crap like Spotify and it doesn't drain my iPhone's battery as much (as Spotify). The only thing I find Spotify real good at is the Connect feature. That being said, I told my friends and family that they're on their own with Spotify as I was no longer paying for the plan lol. AM is right for me.
Very good article, thank you very much. I don't like Apple Music that much, although it has gotten better. Spotify's algorithm is also way ahead of 2024, Tidal is even better. Why can't Apple Music do that? The whole family has Spotify, we have shared playlists, also with friends. The way I discover new music with Spotify is brilliant for me. Even when I tested tidal, it quickly identified my preferences and suggested incredibly good albums and songs. That's never happened to me with Apple Music. It's more like that with Apple Music: You're listening to pizza right now? Here's an onion soup for you :) I can't take any advantage of Apple Music.
too be honest i am really close to going to apple so that i can use the higher quality music, but the ability to cast my songs to my echo or my ps5 is something i use way too much
I had a similar issue. I’d connect via Bluetooth to the Echo since it doesn’t support AirPlay, but then I’d have to manually forget the device afterwards which was a hassle, so I just stopped using the speakers altogether which feels like a waste :/ (Was worth the switch though)
I use a combination of both (sort of). I use Spotify for music discovery, and use iTunes Match to upload my favorite songs to the cloud. I can’t stand that many of my favorite songs are constantly getting removed from both streaming services. Apple Music is great if you only, and I mean only, listen to mainstream music. I listen to a lot of foreign and underground tracks that neither streaming service offers. That’s why iTunes Match is such a life saver. Spotify however manages to recommend me stuff that’s at least close. Apple Music recommendations are absolute trash.
Good point I should’ve mentioned. I listen to a lot of Punjabi music and there are quite a lot of songs (especially older, non-mainstream) ones which aren’t on AM. YT Music might be a solution if your favourite songs are getting removed from both, since I imagine that if a song has been uploaded to YT it’ll show somewhere in YT Music (I’ve never tried it, but it’s just a thought that came to my mind)
right now I use youtubemusic but I switch spotify here and there. I just wish they really worked on audio quality they are ok but can be better. Also I just have a huge bias against Apple so I will just not use their service.
Also, I used to prefer spotify over AM. I use both. I just never really used apple Music as much since it would have trouble playing songs sometimes on my android device, which is my primary phone. But I use AM primarily on my iPhone that I use for imessage and ft. I prefer AM now since I feel like my spotify has been missing on recommendations for me, and AM has been suggesting banger albums, which I prefer over playlists. But I will continue to keep both until AM gets better on android.
