Well done maria, you did well on the apple pie lovely browned it was,my partner loves apple pie,his mum used to make them too,i would have to do mine in the main oven cos my air fryer has smaller baskets not big enough for that round plate to fit in,unless i made smaller individual ones.once again maria well done top notch.🙂👍
Thank you for your kind words. Apple Pie and apple crumble are my favourites too. Square dishes I have trouble fitting in mine. My airfryer is big, but for some reason I can't find a square dish small enough to fit in. Thank you for watching 😊
Hi Maria Pie looks great. I love making individual pies. Have learned it’s harder to get the larger ones out of the fryer. You can make a sling with foil and it is such a better way of removing things and less likely to get burned.
Hi. It was a bit of a struggle to get out as my dish had only just fitted in. I should try making a sling really, especially for the snugger fitting dishes. Thank you for watching 😊
Yummy wholesome old school pud. Unfortunately my airfryer is too narrow to fit a round plate in like that. I wonder what I could use in a long narrow compartment.. Save me a slice . Thank you. 🤤
Apple Pie and custard is my favourite. You can't beat the old school style puddings. I was lucky, my plate just fitted in! I'm lucky to get a slice if my husband gets there first! 😂 Thank you for watching 😊
Hello Maria, that apple pie is the business yum. I took a peak back at ya vids but couldn't find a pastry one, would it be cheeky to ask if you could do another one😃 I'm not a confident pastry maker and used to do as mum did, she used spry or trex plus stork and her pastry was so melt in the mouth texture. I think she would add half amount of fat to flour so 300 gm flour to 150 gm of fat. Can't get spry or trex anymore so I'll try lard and butter, what d ya think Maria. Ta very much.🙂
that looks lovely, i never seem to get the pastry underneath cooked, you are so lucky, have you blind baked in the air frier yet ,i would love you to do a quiche in the airfrier. great vid ,i enjoyed it
I was afraid the pastry underneath wouldn't cook, but I was pleasantly surprised, and relieved, when it did. I haven't tried baking blind in the air fryer yet. I do have plans to do a cheese & broccoli quiche when my broccoli grows in the garden, if the caterpillars don't eat them first! Thank you for watching 😊
Hello Maria I'm making an apple pie this Sunday and it's been a while since I did make pastry, I'm baking it on a metal pie plate I'm not sure how much flour ect I will need to make a top and bottom for the pie. I looked at my b roe book but I'm not sure how much I need. The pie plate is about the same as yours. I was looking for a recipe and yours was the first up.😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Christine. I use 8oz flour to 4oz of lard or 2oz lard, 2oz butter / margarine. I batch make mine and freeze them. When I make a pie like this I use two lots, one for bottom and one for top (Double the above measurements). There's always a bit left over for a jam pasty! 😊
Yes it was really nice, especially with a bit of custard! No I never brush the top with milk. Not for any particular reason, I just never have. The pastry always browns nicely and tastes good. Thank you for watching 😊
