They kept on lying. Crazy how the mom lied with her. You can’t get rid of that photo of the supposed bruised eye especially if it’s been sent through text. One of the phone would’ve had it. And bruises aren’t not noticeable after being hit then randomly show the next day. It’d be red at the very least which all the officers and medical personnel said there wasn’t any signs of injury on her.

My Husband is Definitely a True Prime Example who is currently incarcerated for Self Defense. My husband was attacked by a Man with a Gun who had every intention to killing my husband, by the grace of God was able to retrieve the Gun and shot the Man in the shoulder with his own weapon and my husband was charged and is serving a 15YR SENTENCE!! My husband had NO history or record or any violent crime EVER!! But the man who attacked him has a record of violence. It’s been 5Yrs since my husband’s sentence and I am still fighting for his freedom. I hope people will clearly see how f**ked up this System is. *SELF DEFENSE IS A LAW NOT A CRIME*

And they’re assaulting a guy on video. The one kid said that the defendant grabbed that girl by the hair and was punching her in the back of the head all in the split second that the camera turned the other way. He never disheveled her sunglasses tho, or knocked the beer out of her hand, or knocked the vape out of her hand, or knocked the phone out of her bikini. Of all the lies they told that one really sticks out because he obviously made all that up and he did it to put a man in prison for the rest of his life…not to clear his name or anything..just to end another man’s life

I don't think this their first time picking on someone like this and God had to put a ending to this in which it took this situation to happen. These teenagers need to be arrested for what they did. People need to understand when you mistreat someone you are only mistreating yourself. Overall, the final judge is God and he will help this guy , I see that clearly! My dad was attacked by a 20 year old in the late 80’s. He had no defense and was pounced on from behind, shoved off a deck . His leg got messed up bad and was never quite right. I would absolutely be terrified. I know what can happen by one young punk, imagine 13.

So they don’t grow to 52y and stab the people that verbally assault them instead of walking away. The teens even said go away, move the F on. They wonted him out of their space which he was in. They said Mius group was about 100feet away length wise and the river was about 150 feet wide. Miu was proven in yesterdays video to have so much room to look for the “phone” but he choose to be near the teens. That his own friends warned him going over near them would be seen as “creepy”.

Miu approached the teens first aware he had a lethal weapon, was first to lunge at them, first to make physical contact and was first to throw a punch. He stabbed a teenage girl HALF HIS WEIGHT for God’s sake who was clearly unarmed and no threat to him. He is GUILTY OF MURDER.

The lawyer isnt the problem, although its nice to know he is that good. Its the small town, close to home of the teens, venue. Isaac lived 10 minutes' drive away from the Court Miu is found guilty and sentenced to life in prison in. You know his family wanted vengeance. This needs to be appealed. TODAY! Mr Miu didnt stand a chance of a fair trial with that jury that has to live with those people after the case closes.

I really believe that Cockfield and Coen are the reason why this whole thing escalated the way it did. This defense attorney Mr. Chirafisi calls Cockfield “the ringleader” and Coen “the queen of the river.” Couldn’t agree more.

I guess you missed the part where one of Miu’s own group suggested he not bother the kids but he intentionally did. And the part on video where he actually lunged at the kids FIRST and threw the FIRST PUNCH. MIU IS GUILTY OF MURDER.

The saddest part about all of this is that if Nic Miu were to be found guilty, the group of people who berated him, called him lewd names, bullied him, and assaulted him will spend the rest of their lives believing that they were right in doing what they did and that they got away with their awful Behavior without any consequences. Everyone who surrounded Nic, laughed at him, called him names, berated him and assaulted him should feel responsible for the outcome of all of this. Their Behavior is what is responsible for leading to destroying one man’s life and the unnecessary death of one of their friends. They played with fire, got burnt, and now they trying to make excuses so they don’t face the consequences.

As a black parent, I can tell you that if any of these kids get charged, it will be the one black kid out of 13 and rightfully so. He came across as the biggest fool ever. I am ashamed. Lastly, if that was my son my husband and I would deal with him on a level that he would be running to the police for his life. However as parents I hope my now grown son would have exhibit learned and taught decent behavior in which he obviously has because he is a successful attorney in NY. Wrong is wrong - NOT GUILTY .

He stabbed an unarmed teenage girl in a bikini clearly unarmed and literally gutted two boys. The video shows his complete lack of fear, he was like a shark. Miu IS GUILTY OF MURDER.

I’m 20 and I’ve been very drunk before. (I live in Canada so I’m legal) I couldn’t even imagine putting my hands on a grown man without knowing the facts. It’s hard to know what I’d do in Miu’s position. If I communicated that I had a knife on me, would they hurt me even more? If I tried to walk away would they chase after me? I do think Miu could have communicated to the adults more effectively. Something like, “I said I was looking for my friends phone not a little girl, can I just go back to my group” Do I think he’s guilty of first degree intentional homicide? No. Do I believe he is guilty to some degree? Yes.

I listened to the instigator of this event when he testified. He called a stranger a pedo, ramped up the accusations, involved another group of strangers, and then retreated to stand back and revel in the chaos he had created. He then filmed himself pretending to be shocked instead of trying to offer assistance. That is who should be on trial. Classic sociopath yelling fire in a theater.

I will have my 14 yr old son sit down and watch this trial and video “for the culture “ so that he understands what I have always tryied to teach him …. You don’t ever bully or be a part of group that acts in this way. That video was so hard to watch over and over again. All I could think of is my 75 yr old father in this situation, he would have probably reacted in the same manner. This is so sad but a learning lesson for everyone with young children & teens.

No need to walk away, a stand your ground exist for a reason. Of these drunk thugs would have been taught properly by their parents this incident would have been avoided. Everyone was drinking heck even the river was drunk. That said the young drunk teens should have known better. Sure in hindsight he should have walked away but it’s too late now. It sounds like you haven't watched the whole video. In the video we see Nic (the older guy) rushing the teens and grabbing onto their tubes and perhaps legs... that's physical escalation #1. Then (not on video) multiple witnesses claim he struck a woman, and you can hear the teens reaction to it... that's physical escalation #2. He also steps in front of their tubes at one point to suggest blocking their movement. Also, at no time does he just try to, you know, BE AN ADULT and talk to the teens to settle them down. So from the video and multiple eyewitness accounts, it seems that Nic initiated a chaos sequence that led to him stabbing 5 people and killing 1. No adult should be justifying his behavior. This doesn't mean the kids were saints, but no good person is going to go on a stabbing spree over some mean words.

Excellent closing statements to prove Adequate Provacation as part of the Second Degree Reckless Homicide with AP. Mui's statements to the female detective right after the killing are damning and full of bold faced lies. Remember he fled the scene into the woods without rendering aid and never called 911 after killing a 17 year old boy.

He had the chance to do that several times, he could have used words and spoken to the teens. He chose not to talk and try to resolve the issue, he could have stayed silent and walked away. He chose not to do that and then chose to stab people. The teens and others were loud and drunk but that isn't an excuse to kill someone. No one laid hands on him until he chose to act.

Agreed. First, the video discredits most of the "eyewitness" testimony. Second, any REASONABLE person in his position would feel an absolute imminent threat of serious injury or death. It appeared to me that everyone was attacking him without any provocation. The second group joined in without any clue what was happening and immediately became aggressive toward him. It was so bizarre...or should I say they acted like a bunch of drunks. It is possible he might be found guilty of one or two assaults, perhaps the tattooed girl?! That was arguably unreasonable. However, the prosecutor did not do a great job during closing so even that is questionable.

My son was born in 2002 so he's the same age as these guys, but from a young age I taught him about being responsible for his choices and take responsibility, after highschool he joined the Navy, and is now on an aircraft carrier doing his ATC so when he gets out of the military he can have a career at an international airport. After seeing this I am so glad I valued being a parent rather then being a cool friend to my son, a string of horrible discussions can turn someone's life upside down or end it.

Taking the moral high ground doesn’t make anyone right. It was a very screwed up situation, he should have tried to walk away, then if attacked he would have “looked” better. However, by law! You have no duty to try to walk away when being threatened by someone blocking your path forward. They had the duty to move out of his way so he could get past but instead they are all standing in his way intimidating him.

I can put myself in the this man's shoes. I'm 63 yrs old. I too have a disability. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever tried to defend myself with a knife. Trust me I've been in a lot of fights in my past. I've disarmed at least two people I fought with from stabbing me. Did I grab their knives and try to stab them back. Hell no. That's what at question here. You start shit. Sometimes you walk away a winner and sometimes you're the loser. But you don't stab people.

Meanwhile Nic claims he was scared for his life yet approached the teenagers by himself like a madman and never walked away until after stabbing 5 and killing 1 As a teenage boy what would you do if you saw a grown man hit a girl or woman? Defend her correct? That was the only self defense that happened. Those boys defending a girl from a 52 year old 240 pound man. Who approach who and wouldn’t leave after being told to do so over 20-30 times ? Who 🤷🏻‍♂️ The defense attorney is an absolute joke of a human being

couldnt agree more. the way the media reported this was the same as kyle rittenhouse(oddly same lawyer). when i saw the news in both cases it was reported as some maniac on a rampage. the opposite were true in both cases, both are cases of self defense where the man defending himself could have done a better job at getting away but in the moment they had to make split second decisions. thank god for the cameras in these cases

ehhhm no, if noone ever recorded that we would argue if Miu's first version of the event happened or theirs. The video showed that he lied multiple times. The vent didn't start with the teens taking his goggles away and throwing it in the river, he slipped and it fell. He wasn't threatened by two boys with knifes, he didn't wrangle one away from them to defend himself. It was his knife and after all was set and done he got rid of it and pretended it wasn't his. Why? Because he knew exactly how fucking guilty the truth makes him look.

The state only cares about income through incarceration. So many innocent or unnecessary charges get levied on people and people get coerced into taking plea deals which completely bypasses due process. They intentionally make bail higher than fuck so people have to take loans from their friends to get out or sit in jail for excessive amounts of time before a jury can be assembled just for the 5th amendment to be applied. The state can not charge anyone with a felony, only a person can. The state is an entity and unless you agree to terms with them they have no right to charge anyone with anything. Only another person can levy felony charges against another person. It's called corruption and this country is RIPE with it.

Sooooo at first I felt like this man was totally a weirdo and those kids and anyone harmed didn't deserve it. After watching the whole trial, I've never in my life had the poorest judgement on a situation off jump and I've never been wrong usually from my first initial thought. I truly don't think this nicolaoe mui was in the wrong. I did a complete 360 after watching this entire trial and the only thing I feel really sad about this is that well one someone should never have been harmed to begin with but this man also has had so many things happen after the false claims the teens made. Including a divorce. This is not something that should of happened but I hope the jury finds this man not guilty. Smh so crazy.

Your a good person. My husband and I went grocery shopping, when he returned the cart, out of no where thugs approached him. I was already in the car. My husband carries a pocket knife. As the thugs were taunting him, I was screaming out the window "it's not.worth it!! It's not worth it!!" He could barely say 3 words the whole way home. I thought the kids were just being wordy, but no. He went in the bathroom and called me in, here his back had what looked like a million tiny bruises. He thinks they had a hand held by gun or something. I could not tell all that was going on. He was terrified, I can only imagine what Mr. Miu went through. Horrific. Not guilty, self defense p.s. we live an hour from where this happened, and it did not surprise me when it did.
