Apple Studio Display: 5 Things I'm Obsessed With 

I am a software engineer, and I have also researched a lot to compare with wide screen monitor like LG 38" before purchasing this monitor. I have zero regret. I am so happy with the Studio Display thanks to the high resolution. The font is so clear even in a small size. Another huge plus is working with high end beautiful monitor motivates me to work more resulting in more productive for my work. Desk is so clean with a simple cable management. Only the drawback is the price.

This monitor is totally worth he money even without Pro motion or mini led. The design is simply beautiful. The best part is how the glass sits on top of the aluminium ie from the front you only see glass. And the 5k scaled retina resolution is razor sharp. I wish apple would build a 65" version of it ( tv Display?) so that I don't have to connect my  tv to crap from other manufacturers. It would be a piece of art on a living room wall.

Is that a 13" MacBook Pro? I have one and was curious if the display of that would scale to the studio display so that I wouldn't get any black bars?

Congrats on the monitor. I just got the m2 pro Mac mini and about to pull the trigger on this monitor. I haven't yet because I'm still thinking if I should spend the extra for the tilt and slide one as suppose to the base tilt one . I just don't know if I should spend the extra $500 just for it to slide up and down . Anyway it's definitely a beautiful monitor so enjoy! .

The display appears to be excellent. I want to buy a Mac possibly by years end. I will need a display.

regarding the price, for once it is pretty good for what you get when it comes to Apple.

As someone who's considered buying an ipad with a pencil for a while, why did you sell your ipad pros?

We have two home offices with an LG 27” 4k in one for our M1/M2 MacBook Pros and my dear old 2014 27” 5k iMac in the other. Mostly we write. The iMac is feeling its age and will have to be replaced before long. I could get another 4k LG but when I move from the iMac to the LG, the difference in text quality is just *so* dramatic - it is *so* much sharper and easier on the eyes on the iMac. My frugal side keeps telling me that 4k is *fine*, but I just don’t think I can live with it. I could get an LG 5k, but then we’re already in $1000 territory and the other fantastic advantages of the Studio Display justify the extra cost. Anyway, thanks for the video, it has helped cement my resolve!

12:57 Agreed. Almost every non-Apple Studio Display monitor fails in regard to clean, minimalist, uniform aesthetics.

Samsung recently announced their Viewfinity S9 - a 5K monitor designed to compete with the studio display. The cost? $1600. Sure it does a couple things the Studio Display doesn’t, like a height adjustable stand by default, and more ports. But the build quality looks so much better on the Studio Display - and you just know the experience for Mac users will be so much better on Apple’s monitor. The Studio Display almost looks like a bargain next to Samsung’s 5K offering. For all the people saying the studio display is overpriced, why is there nothing comparable on the market at a lower price?

Yes, I have used the Apple Studio Display love it. The movement is so good to adjust. I love the fully adjustable version that tilts in and out up and down. We have 2 of them at home when I use them, so nice love it myself. Great points, David, as always David.I'm buying one for my work setup for me as well sometime this year as well highly recommended

Why can't you get it without the webcam? Having a webcam there means you have to have a big patch of duct tape on the top of your monitor.

Does my 2020 MacBook Pro with Intel work with the Apple Studio Display? Mine has 4 thunderbolt ports. I was thinking about getting one someday but it a very expensive display.

The webcam looks worse in other people's videos but it doesnt look that bad in yours.....question: is this camera ok for zoom calls with clients for real though? Does it look bad? I don't want a camera that's " there when you absolutely need it" - I can't have myself looking bad and cheap in front of my clients. Not if I'm paying this much for the display. Is the camera genuinely ok for calls with clients?

For the price you pay for this monitor it is unacceptable any issues. MUST be perfect so, I don’t think mention this things makes any difference…

In this case you cannot get "better for less". In this case you get what you pay for. The smaller the volume of merchandise, the more it costs. And a few years ago, Apple's best display cost $1,000 and there was no controversy over the price. Today's $1,600 Apple display reflects inflation and is about the same price as the old display considering today's economy. --- Don't use the term "game-changer. it is hackneyed. And don't wear a backwards hat -- especially indoors. You'll be taken more seriously if you don't "make a statement" in a review, especially in a few years when that style will be subject of ridicule.
