It doesn't support controllers on Apple devices, I don't see that changing unless it appears on Arcade. I don't think it's good enough to get on there, they need to rewrite it for less in-app purchases - if Apple adds their 30% it will cost too much...
@@rvnhty They added support but it still sucks, the actual game isn't very interesting it's basically a fruit machine RPG lol. There are like a million better games to play that this wishes it was. But yeah they added controller support so it's at least playable now.
Sadly, Apple just doesn't get the gaming market and they likewise are missing a great opportunity with the Apple TV. I'm happy that the AppleTV hardware is finally improving somewhat and will upgrade to the A15 version. Still, I just can't help but feel disappointed by Apple continues to miss this opportunity. In my opinion, Apple should have 2 Apple TV versions. A basic streamer that is even lower cost and plugs into the back of the TV and they should have a beefier version with an M1/8GB RAM for gaming. They could easily commission a few AAA level games and even a few key ports of games and they'd have a nice gaming box.
I still remember their Pippin console, daft thing probably put them off since it was terribly designed and at that time Apple was under Amelio Gill who was on mushrooms. They will support Steam and Xbox Gamepass in a year or two though I think!
@@DailyCorvid Yeah, Pippin was another example of Apple attempting to address the gaming market but demonstrating they know nothing about the market. As for 3rd party game streaming services, that’s not really what the Apple platform wants or needs. They want native platform development.
I bought the new Apple TV 4K 128GB model on the strength of my iPad Mini 6th gen which has an A15 chip and is great for playing games, plus I had run out of storage (64 GB) on the previous gen Apple TV 4K due size of Apple Arcade games. The iPad Mini 6th gen benefits from having a 5 core GPU. It's unclear from Apple's website if the A15 SoC in the new Apple TV 4K is the 4 core or 5 core GPU version?
Bought it, loving it! Sadly Beach Buggy Racing 2 Island Adventure didn't save on iCloud or Game Center... I lost all progress. Shame on Vector Unit (devs).
I think it’s impressive what this streaming device can do gaming wise. Not only will it probably outlast 2 to 3 generations of roku and fire sticks but it can play some fun games too. It’s exciting to see what plans apple has for it for the future.
This is such a great rundown and "current state" of the new Apple TV performance. Great writing and comments. Also how did you capture frame time and FPS detail?
Hello … important … I just bought apple tv4k 2022 to play horizon chase 2 and … the game causes Apple TV to over heat and cause lagging, screen go black for a few sec, controller input delay sort of issues … device is very hot to the touch … I want to know did just I get a defective unit or every new Apple TV run hot with horizon chase 2? … I ran horizon chase 2 on my Apple TV HD 2015 as well to compare the performance… graphics is not so good but Apple TV HD not even warm up
I’ve been playing with Xbox Gamepass cloud beta on my IPAD and can run most AAA games. They really need to allow Apple to use this app on AppleTV, but I’m sure they won’t at that point no need for PS5 or Xbox. Hopefully soon
Hay muchos juegos que tienen soporte nativo para gamepads, como modern combat versus, battle prime, call of duty mobile, apex legend mobile y muchos más, que serían interesantes se puedan jugar en apple tv.
Subbed, thanks for the awesome video! I was really disappointed by all the tech tubers phoning in the review for the Apple TV, especially when it came to gaming.
No bro she have No Games, all Games in this Video 2-3 years Release Date To Apple TV old No new Games, No First Person Shooter an No iOS Games this TV Box ist tvios only
Thank you for the video! It's pretty disappointing that there's not a single game that use Metal 3 so far - it might greatly improve the performance and open new horizons for the iOS and Mac gaming. But we may be on the beginning of the new era since the first Metal 3 game is out on Mac - REV.
Even if the apple tv comes with the A17 chipset you are still gonna be locked inside the walled garden, unless apple makes its operating system open source, which is not gonna happen 😅
Inside is literally a little nightmares clone lol and everyone knows oceanhorn is a clone of botw regardless they both look amazing can’t wait to play it when I set my Apple TV up tomorrow
Wreckfest is now on apple TV. I've run it at max everything on the A15 128gb Apple TV 4K. Other than a few frame rate drops, playing it with my PS5 pad I forget I'm on a TV STREAM device! ❤
Never knew SpongeBob BFBB was on the App Store. The Apple TV version runs even better than the Switch version. Not surprising since the Switch is older but still nice to see.
Jetpack Joyride 2 is a juddery mess even on the gen 3, how do they manage that when it can do all of these far more challenging games with ease. Sort it out Halfbrick
I bought two Apple TV 4K but I haven't been able to download any application for two months because both devices keep saying that I can't connect to the App Store (Apple can't help with that). I recommend other products like the NVIDIA Shield.
Trust me, Horizon Chase 2 isn’t that great on the Apple TV, on certain race tracks the frame rate drops so low where it’s still playable but makes it impossible to finish the tracks and get in 1st place.
I’m telling you. When m2 max and ultra come out. They could make a 3 tier gaming system. Apple TV (m2 chip) Apple TV pro (m2 max) and Apple TV ultra (m2 ultra)
@@bigsur370 Apple Silicon is the best power to performance ratio out there. Literally gaming with passive cooling is a wild thing. ipads literally have the capability to play AAA games now.
@@bigsur370 if they start adding the ability to get games like resident evil 8 and no man’s sky on an Apple TV, people would. Resident evil 8 is already on macs natively and I believe it will be on the iPads next
@@TylerKhan Yeah but at the end of the day its still gonna be upto the developers if they want their games to be optimized for the macs with apple silicon. However that would still take ages for them to import/optimized their games with apple silicon as the Market share for gaming is still low in comparison to windows / pc. Tho most games i play are also available on Mac so i guess thatd be great. HOWER the price of apple tv will for sure bump up by like 100/200 more?? Idk.
My family and I finally pulled the trigger on beach buggy racing, it took so long because of the reasonable high price tag but it is worth it! Thank you for that hidden gem, it so cool to have a high quality local coop game for the family!
I want to add that I used to play Baldo on my Apple TV 4K (A12X) and it could not play at high settings without poor framerate, so usually set to auto / mid. Now with the new A15 I can finally play it at High and it’s just as smooth as the old one at mid. It does always default back to automatic when you close the game. Baldo should’ve been included in this vid!
Interesting that you also noticed the Horizon Chase 2 has FPS dips at times when the track turns. I contacted the developer and it seems they are working on an update. Huntdown is an amazing platformer! Love the dark sci-fi backdrops and gameplay. Really fun in two player co-op. By the way, it seems to run at 60 FPS also on my old iPad Air 2 (A8X) from 2014. :) I think the new Apple TV 4K is pretty impressive performance wise. Especially (like you pointed out) that it's fanless and (if I understand correctly) only uses up to 6W when gaming! 😮 But sure, an M1 or M2 based Apple TV with 8 GB RAM for about $100 more or so would be something else. :)
