I hope Apple will make a spacial video editor that doesn’t require as much training as a pro level video editor. I’d love to start shooting spacial videos with the ability to edit them into short films.
Spatial video is so obviously the next dimension of how telling stories with moving images will evolve. The first few years are going to be so funny since VFX will have to start from scratch again.. maybe we'll see a return to practically driven effects shots? Anyway thanks for being an early adopter and reminder to not get discouraged by lack of feedback on what you experiment with! The audience for consuming spatial video is going to be quite small for at least the next year or so.
I can see myself using it in coffee shop or park or bus. I can’t vision myself wearing this while walking on the street. I have thick skin, people might stare but eventually the novelty will wear off and it becomes the norm.
I think you underplayed the Audio Raytracing feature@joeyhelms. Emitting ultrasound sweeps to scan audio properties of the room in 3D, and making the audio sounds like it belongs is insane tech. Plus Apple are also going to 3D scan your ears to render the sound more accurately from tiny speakers.
I am readying my mind to be blow and positively surprised. True the tech to factor in your environment to modulate sound 'sounds' awesome. Curious to hear the depth of the built-in speakers...
I would love to get one, but due to financial limitations, I can only dream about it at the moment. However, with that being said, for movies, we can finally experience a movie in its intended aspect ratio and the best spatial video experience ever designed. IMAX has a dedicated app for the Vision Pro, so your home theater just received an upgrade. Due to its weight and the luxury brand associated with Apple, who would want to risk being out in public and potentially facing the risk of getting mugged or accidentally dropping a $3500 HMD? I'm already having a hard time imagining people with the Quest 3 or Pico in public, and I've yet to encounter such a wild species, lol.
IDEA: Attach the Battery Pack onto the back of the headstrap. Does this reduce the feeling of weight on the face and make it feel more comfortable? Or is the added overall weight not worth the tradeoff?
I don’t understand caring about how people think you look. I also am not keen on seeing people walk around with Quest headsets. Sure there’s a some online walking outside with the Q3 due to the improved passthrough but it’s for demonstration and not a common use. These are for indoors. We don’t need to see them in the wild when there’s social media although we will see them in travel spaces like airports. A lower price in the future is what will drive up use.
I ordered my Apple Vision Pro on day one. My imagination encourages me to buy it. Just imagine what this device is capable of and let your imagination runs wild while your bank account runs with tears for the breakup.
I ordered it damn it, I let my imagination run wild while my bank account cry but I ain’t sad, I will always make more while enjoying my Apple Vision Pro.
With the new... comes more new... after studying the rear headband on the AVP..? My LaZboy recliner may be my new Office Chair... feet up... layback and take the weight off in more than one way... for me it's all about the seeing... we have Always lived in a 3D world... but in the most part accepted 2D as good enough? I'm hoping for a 3D realism as the new ordinary... even if It has to be LaZboy style... I have been taking surreal photos and videos for years... just for I hope this day! We'll see what Friday brings...
Joanna Stern's review for the Wall Street Journal answers some of Helms's questions, and yes, she did use it outside: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8xI10SFgzQ8.html
I hope Netflix knows it will lose a lot of money for their stupidity. They are just bluffing for now. Netflix will be on the AVP before you know it. I ordered mine on day one.
Dorky or not... And I have very limited funds. BUT...I'm wearing this at 11am 2/2 outside in the wild city streets..(the hood) and whatever happens...happens!!!! 🤷🏾♂️
I've owned every major consumer vr headset and I know with certainty that vision pro will not be as comfortable as psvr, and even that is too uncomfortable. but there is hope for the future, Douglas Lanman recently gave a talk on what display tech is currently available and when that makes into a product we have a chance. @@Joey_Helms
Physics are physics. I've been down this road too many times. I can confidently call myself an expert in this space. I'll bet you everything I own and everything I will ever own that this thing will be not be comfortable enough to use for the entire battery life repeatedly over the lifetime of the product. at first your confirmation bias may tell you otherwise but a year later reality will have set in. @@paulrevere1479
Saying it won’t be successful is a bold claim. Do you know what they are trying to achieve with this? It’s a roadmap to mass adoption. Not currently intended for everyone. The “pro” in the name references developers and people working in an industry that would work on or use this.
