I finally could check out the Apple Vision Pro on an RTX4090 Beast Machine! And I was pretty shocked...! Streaming with ALVR is sooo good already! But how does it compare to the likes of Bigscreen Beyond? And what are the best ALVR settings? I will tell you all in this video!

Dear VR Santa, this year please may I have (in no order): 1. OLED 2. 4k per eye 3. HDMI 4. Pancake Lenses 5. Inside out head tracking (optional upgrade to Lighthouse tracking?) 6. Eye Tracking 7. Hand/finger Tracking 8. No controller option (but compatible with any other Steam VR compatible controllers) 9. 105 degrees 11. Off-ear Audio All for 750 pounds or the rebeldollar equivalent. How does Wifi 6 wireless bandwidth enough for vision's 4k per eye? It's insame. I hope Wifi 7 can give a big benefit on wireless compression and latency issue.

I'd like to see a Bigscreen 2.0 with good lenses, eye tracking, controller option, and improved FOV. Less than $1k ideally, but $1500 might still be attractive.

i just got my crystal light, not as big a difference that youtubers are saying... i have a 4070 super and I have to turn down the rez to much that it does not look much better than my quest 3

Wait for the RTX 5000 series? just a few months out. However, I speculate that although nVidia will make the 5080 just a bit slower than the 4090 the price will also increase relative to the 4080 super, 1200$. So 30-35% faster than 4080 but also 20-25% more expensive. The 5090 will be a lot faster but will also start at I guess 1800$? Most likely higher than the msrp of the 4090... The previous generation is more being used as the "low-end" instead of being replaced by the new generation. There will be a large performance gap between -80 and -90 card, again. So save up for the 5080 or sell a kidney for the 5090 :) so you can get your Crystal to 35PPD instead of the Quest3 25PPD.

really? what cpu and ram are you running? I was thinking about getting the crystal light...I'm running the 4070ti i914900k 128ddr5 ....you think I will have the same results as you? I have quest 3 too i think it looks good but all these youtubers saying crystal light is so great I wanted to try it

I would have to agree, when I first got the headset I had the resolution set too low to take advantage of the pixels and it didn't look like anything special. Once I set the resolution to about 3500 vertical then I was blown away. Kind of makes me think the Crystal Super is pointless. BTW I have a 4090.

@@Torcsen4090 pairs perfectly with the crystal. Setting the resolution high is much much better than quest 3.

the developer strap… interesting enough… - while for now just doing USB.. it has the pinouts and confirmed that it has displayport and thunderbolt abilities .. but its not activated. so tethering might be possible in the future is suspected… which would be awesome..

I think the Apple Vision Pro is absolutely amazing. I ❤ my ipad pro so I already know I would ❤ this headset. But, $3,500 is just way too expensive for me. Maybe, if it were $1,500 I would consider it. But, I just spent $904.00 on the Pimax Crystal Light. I believe, I will be very happy. I been playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR via Luke Ross mod and Wow, absolutely amazing. 😉👌

I have one and been doing the beta for ALVR for months now.. it rocks! can you provide your setting file? - that way folks won’t need to manually put in the values. should be in the directory where alvr is launched from.

If I had the money for AVP, my usecase would be as follow; I will usually replace medias consumption from holding a freaking rectangular with horrible touchscreen control in watching youtube, Netflix, check emial, facebook, and what not while waiting for more killer apps

Lol you and me both. I thought by the time it comes out my Q3 will be dated which I bought as tired of waiting for it and relatively cheap. Even though I feel dirty for giving Meta money it was a great upgrade from my Pimax 5k plus and so much faster to get into games consistently.

I have an OG Pimax Crystal and Q3. I prefer the crystal for everything Pc-related. The DP makes a big difference for me. I would probably pay that kind of money for a pc specific headset, I though the XR4 was the answer but that doesn’t seem to be going the way we hoped it would.

Can you give some data on the fps you got in MSFS? Currently I don't think there is any hardware capable of running FS2020 smoothly with a VR headset at such a resolution. Thanks Sebastian

The XR-4 already has most of that covered. Not micro OLED but the black levels are about 95% as good as OLED which is wild and it has DisplayPort.

The black levels are good but nowhere near OLED. The XR4's downfall is the terrible binocular overlap. It's a showstopper.

The pimax crystal Super will be better technologically speaking/ppd and certainly better value cost wise but a rtx 5090 will be needed to get the most out of it

Don't do something stupid like that. LOL. Are you serious? Keep your Mac buddy, it's still relevant and necessary. Quest 3 is actually way better than AVP as a standalone. Not sure about Varjo, and which one you have. Trust me, AVP is not worth it at all. Unless you're an apple fanboy, and succumb to the ecosystem, then maybe that's your headset. In the end it's up to you.

It's fantastic as a Standalone device. It has the power of a macbook built in. It's no comparison to Quest. But it's not so much for gaming like the Quest is.

The problem with High End VR today is one thing only: Quest 3 exist I have every one you mentioned apart of Simmnium or whatever it's name is and XR-4, Quest 3 is more than enough for majority of use cases in PCVR

Sorry but Quest 3 is not the go-to solution for PC VR imho. Why on earth did they not include a display port cable natively for the Quest 3 ? In that case, it would have been a slam dunk. But they insisted on making it first and foremost a standalone device.

@@YoshimiPinkRobot You can set Quest 3 to be close to Beyond and even better than Reverb G2, which is a level good enough in VR.... If you know how to setup AV1 properly then it's great. Will rather use AV1 than have cables restrictining movements

Let’s be honest. The G2 is not good enough. Screen door, gets hot, fov. The G2 was the first decent set. Meta has thrown Billions at VR to just get close to the G2?! The G2 is from the 20 teens! 2030’s are around the corner. It all went to hell when Palmer and Carmack left VR.

If Guy Godin's Virtual Desktop for Apple Vision Pro is released, I think I will consider purchasing the Vision Pro then. But as far as I know, Godin has no plans to develop apps for Apple Vision Pro yet.

Display port and avoiding Apple premium cost and infrastructure would be valuable. Without Apple tax, cost could be less (not subsidizing Vision OS R&D).

on this there isn’t too much “apple tax” hell the displays are like $700 or so by themselves! and sony could only give them like 500.,000 this year…Apple is in this for the long haul…. they decided to concentrate on the ‘consumer’ version Apple Vision Or Vision air.. whatever they end up calling it…which i think was smart. This while expensive really is a devkit.. honestly

will be interesting to see what Palmer Luckey comes out with, will his headset be this with display port, or will he seek wider fov. A lot of cost can be cut if they remove the front screen. I can see AVP being way lighter and cheaper in the future, removing front screen and running battery and chip from iphone instead of puck

It is really unfortunate that Apple did all it could to distance itself from VR, not even mentioning this acronym once in the Vision Pro presentation, and instead insisted on "spatial computing" Now that the Vision Pro is starting to look as a failure for "spatial computing"... VR applications are being considered ? Mmmmm... The PC VR crowd is forgiving, but price has to come way down.

@@royevans1882 There are many negative "long term" reviews of the Vision Pro. I struggle to find long term positive reviews here on RU-vid. Granted, "long term" here means 3 to 4 months of usage, which is indeed not a very long time. But the outlook is bleak. Another way to measure the Vision Pro success or failure : are developers flocking to it ? Who in his right mind would start to develop for such a tiny demographic ?

If you live near an Apple Store, you should sign up for a demo of AVP. Take your glasses if you wear them. Experiencing it won't lower the price, but it will show that Apple nailed the experience in just about every way.
