The new Apple Vision Pro is one of the most impressive pieces of tech I have ever used. The virtual windows look so real. I really enjoy being able to use the Vision Pro as a monitor for my laptop. Combine that with the VisionOS apps and you can have windows where ever you want them. This is more than just an AR or VR headset. This is a computer on your face. Or as Apple says, a Spatial Computer.

It’s a glimpse of the future. Nothing on this is a killer app taken to its full potential. Would love to see a million dollar movie recorded using this headset. Can they make special effects in that video? Can I experience someone else doing something cool like doing stunts and such but I get to be in the drivers seat. Can I play a shooting game where I shoot through a window in my living room? Virtual pets, virtual toys. So much potential. But we won’t see most of that for a year.

I want to use it as a mobile computer. I am a writer and like to be able to sit in a coffee shop/library/outside and work. Since the majority of my tools/applications are web based, I can see opening up the browser and going for it. The idea of being able to look straight ahead and not down is also very attractive.

I literally laughed out loud when I saw Craig wearing a AVP in a video this morning. I understood his reasoning for not not getting one, which did seem a bit like his Superego was trampling forward. And over the weekend, his id broke through and has been having a blast playing 😀. When I get one, several generations down the line, it will be for travel. I often travel a few hundred thousand miles per year meaning there is a ton of airplane time where this will be great. I also love the idea of windows staying in a place anywhere in the physical world. I can see having a screen with various updated info when I pull into my driveway including who is home and some buttons for the SmartHome. Having travel details at my normal ticket counter and in the lounge. It does seems fun!

@Dr_Cole I really appreciate that explanation. Makes total sense that way. I didn’t think I was being egotistical and trampling the product. In a negative way. The devil on the shoulder won this battle. The angel was trying to look out for my wallet. Again, thanks for the follow up.

I’m so glad you bought this, I trust your review on it. Question: Do you think they’re getting into AR/VR because what else could they do to a phone to get ppl to buy a new one so this is their way of transitioning to a new product with lots of potential? I hope you’ll make more videos on it.

Thank you very much. I think Apple is making a computer and open experience. I don’t think they are trying to get people to buy another product. But I do think there isn’t much else big that can be done to phones, computers and tablets. Eventually I can see someone buying this instead of an iPad. But I think computers and phones will be needed. I am planning on making more videos. I think there is a lot of questions out there to see if this is worth it.

The first time I tried the dual loop band, I could not get it to be comfortable. I took another crack at it and found out one thing. If you feel extra pressure on the forehead, loosen the top of the band. If you feel more pressure on your cheeks, you loosen the back of the band. Once you get the pressure rather equal, that’s when you minutely tighten both.

I was thinking that some kind of wearable harness might make it possible now. It's certainly not ideal, but I think keeping as much of the brains out of the unit on your face, and trying to move them somewhere with the battery. I almost think it could hang from the back of your neck inside the shirt? Maybe some kind of shoulder harness? I think it might be worth carrying around a couple of extra pounds on your back so that the device could be powered all day, and have a smaller footprint on the face.

I had an AVP demo last week. I laughed out loud the whole time, it was so amazing. They aren't there yet but can you imagine GoPro action videos shot with one of these things? Insane! Everyone will experience wing suit flying, deep sea diving, moon walks, safari in the outback or the planet Pandora for Pete's sake. Someday well be climbing HomeTree and flying on the backs of Iran Dragons and saying things like "Tam tam Seze". @paulrevere1479 it looks incredible and is a great immersive experience. From a technical standpoint, I want to test them more. 13:45 It depends, if you're talking about a normal TV, sure it's cheaper, a good 65 inch OLED is less than half what Vision Pro costs, and even cheaper if you go for a smaller size TV, and even cheaper when you opt for LCD based TV. If you're talking about an immersive premium level movie theater like experience, no, you can't. This is a steal by comparison. A 97 inch OLED TV is $30,000 at Best Buy. Anything larger is just too cost prohibitive. A good projector with a screen easily costs double what Vision Pro costs and that's before you factor in the room build and audio system.
@MacTX

I could see in 20 yrs the TV/home theater market not existing as it does today. There might be remnants still left for custom stuff. If AVP is this good right now for movies/TV Shows, I can't imagine what version 10 will be like. Most people won't need a TV or home theater audio.

For me, so far at least, that amazing app is Foreflight Voyager. It lets you chose an airport which you will then see in 3D space, sort of like Google Earth, and the current air traffic at that airport will be visible, also in 3D space. You can select a flying aircraft and get some details about it. Right now the aircraft are depicted as sort of glowing, single color planes, but it would be great if they could "paint" the aircraft in the airline's colors in the future. Foreflight, the company, is best known for their iPad app, also called Foreflight, that turned the iPad into the most popular piece of avionics hardware ever made. If I had to guess, probably more than 90% of pilots in the world use Foreflight, both for commercial flights and for private flights done in small Cessna and Piper aircraft.

@@CraigsTechTalk Absolutely. Any device HAS to justify its price point in terms of daily use. Im happy to spend on the iPhone as it never leaves my side - THAT is value for money. The Quest Pro is something that I feel might quickly become a novelty. Apple's generous return window is about to be hammered! Many will have only bought it for social media exposure with no intention of keeping it. Out of interest - I have a Quest 3... and frankly it does MANY of the things that the Vision Pro does (not all, by any means) but for the price point THAT is a novelty thats worth keeping - It has a passthrough, hand tracking, web browsers, Virtual Desktop (works with Mac), games, youtube/prime/netflix apps for theatre mode.... honestly its not missing much and an absolute bargain when compared to the Vision Pro. They are also about to provide an update where you can view 3D photos and videos taken on the iPhone - a huge win for them. I feel there are many things the Vision Pro will have to drop to make it more attractive price-wise and the first thing to go is that rather useless eyesight screen on the outside - for the user of the device it adds nothing to the experience so why keep it in.

I truly get triggered by the whole “it’s expensive” schtick🤷🏽‍♂️. I get it when it’s young people saying this that weren’t around when a mobile phone couldn’t even fit in a cargo pocket, didn’t even have enough memory to save phone numbers and yet cost $3,995.00 back in 1983 which in todays money is well over $10,000 🤣🤣🤣. I don’t know man a face computer that is also an extension of my phone and laptop while also being a 3D capable iMax theatre that I can bring with me on my next flight to Brazil and is $6,000 less than the Samsung 98” Class Neo QLED 4K UHD Smart Tizen TV which is JUST a TV and can’t be taken with me on long flights. As I said this is a triggering topic because I just see people complaining about the price which if you go through any premium department store you will see dresses, pocketbooks etc that are similarly priced or even more expensive than this device. In doing my research for this comment I came across a Samsung TV on Best Buy that is $149,999.99 like talk about overpriced that is what I consider overpriced🤣

I feel you on this Chris. That is where I try to give a little perspective with the comparison to a good TV and a good monitor. I remember how expensive tech was in the 90s. 32” flatscreens for $3000. When people see the value in the Vision Pro, the cost isn’t as much of an issue. If they don’t see value, save that $3500 for a lot of other Apple devices. Thanks for watching.

The problem is Apple will start making it obsolete every year. and how many people will have friends who own one to play games and do stuff with together.

I fear the opposite. Since the price is so high, I can see being like the AirPods Max or HomePods. They are too expensive, it becomes a niche product and then barely receives updates. I am surprised Apple hasn’t cashed in on putting USB C on AirPods Max.

This is a scam so that we can teach a.i. how to do our jobs in first person. Imagine the data from all those cameras. It sure seems like a corporation might encourage their employees to use them, not just if a.i. does take over, but just to watch how efficient or inefficient an employee is, it could be really valuable to see how the most efficient employee moves vs the least? Still though, super cool, and I'd love to try it out. Every review seems genuinely surprised as to what they do, and considering how numb we all are to tech, that says a lot to me. Imagine pushing a button and you have night vision, or infrared, or lidar? etc. Imagine pinch to zoom in real time. Instantly read bar codes, and qr codes. It seems like it could free up tens of thousands of hours of labor per day. How much labor is lost per day when someone has to remove their phone from their pocket, unlock the phone, then all of their attention is forced to be down on the tiny screen. If billions of people are doing that same motion of using their phone every day, it sure adds up quick. I could go on and on and on........

I can see so much value in the data these can gather. Being an Apple device makes me feel a little better. I am sure they are up to stuff. But Apples business model is too sell really expensive devices and take a nice chunk of the App Store sales. If this were Google I would be real nervous. Their primary business is still ads and data is king. This is definitely a device that surprises you. It has been a while since there has been a device that stirs up the wonder and curiosity. I am curious to see how companies adapt it into their business. iPads have helped so many fields with efficiency. This is another layer.
