Apple Watch Ultra Long Term Review // Unbeatable Battery!! 

I’m a Division I runner for the University of Colorado and I run 85+ miles a week in season without my phone and I absolutely love the Ultra.

You mentioned all the things I love about this watch, especially the battery life and the larger display. Mine doesn’t have a scratch although I wear it day and night and use it for hiking stand up paddling skiing and a lot of swimming in freshwater and saltwater. I use the activity button to precisely start a workout, and also to start walking workout (which I do every day). I love the green alpine Loop armband. Since owning the Apple Watch Ultra, I often leave the iPhone at home or packed away.

I just picked up this watch this weekend. Love it so far. I came from an SE and this is a huge leap. I can’t wait to get some hiking and outdoors time in.

3:24 I’ve just ordered a Anker Cube to charge my iPhone and Ultra. Does it fast charge the Ultra Watch? There is a huge time difference between regular charging and fast charging.

Great video very very clear, I also have the action button disabled as I wear it to bed and the action button kept going off so I just disabled it.

How does the trail loop hold up as far as the Velcro? I have work shirt that has Velcro pockets and 1 year later the Velcro is all torn up and doesn’t work anymore

9:23 I had a stainless steel link band and it affected the compass. Then switched to a titanium link band and it worked fine. I don’t think there will be any reason to upgrade from the first generation Ultra to the latest. It will be a few years before I need to think about that.

Launch day unit here and not a scratch or ding one. Looks brand new out of the box. I use a Spigen screen protector and Pitaka carbon fiber bumper with it. I use the action button for flashlight and has come in handy.

I’ve never had three days worth of battery life from mine. Realistically it’s 48hours. If anyone asks me, I tell them it lasts twice as long as a regular Apple Watch. I love my action button … it’s my torch for this late night toilet trips!

I work at a hospital and I set the action button as my stopwatch and I do find that I constantly hit it while working or even at home sometimes

Love the Watch Ultra. Had it since January. I wanted a stainless steel watch after scratching up my aluminum one. For the battery this was the better choice. Favorite band: trail loop

Love my Ultra but I also did flip the orientation to avoid accidental button mashing.

Action button=flashlight for me. Apple watch Ultra is by far my favorite Apple Watch. I have had the Series 7 and the original stainless.

I use the phone feature frequently and it works great. Callers only know I am on my watch if they called me on Facetime. The audio clarity seems better than my iPhone 14 pro max speaker phone feature. You can talk to your wrist while using both hands to do something like driving. It has it's own number but rings with the iPhone at the same time so you can answer on either. I love that I can answer on any device I am using. Most of the time my watch is on my wrist and other devices maybe in another room. Best of all we can transfer a call to another nearby device.

I find the action button so handy set for the torch. If anything I don’t use the side button and always use the crown so loosing that shortcut button wouldn’t make any difference to me

I just picked one up today used for 400 dollars and a bunch of Apple bands. I love it so far I’m coming from a series 4.

love the watch, got used to the orange buttons, but i hope they change the crown placement because it digs into the sling and also remove the orange color, and i’ll be satisfied

I’m a happy Series 7 owner but I’ve been thinking about the Ultra for it’s bigger, brighter screen, longer battery life and durability. (I don’t do marathons, diving, etc.) The weight and bulk put me off. Rumors suggest the Ultra 2 will have the same case size and weight, but the Ultra 3 may be a bit thinner and lighter. So I’m inclined to wait another year.

Have you noticed the battery only last 3 days? Im not sure its because of the latest update from apple but mines use to last at least 4 days of battery life. I don't use it to call or text or surf the net....Please advise

I'm currently using a Series 4 44mm stainless GPS & cellular watch which tells me that its battery needs a service. I also wear a Garmin fēnix 7S on my other wrist. The reason? The fēnix is my watch for recording workouts and also recording my sleep patterns as the Apple Watch doesn't have sufficient battery life anyway to last all day and all night. But it does do many things the Garmin doesn't, like Apple Pay - that I use all the time - to opening up my Macs, etc. It also alerted me to some heart problems I had post-COVID (and recorded my apparent death in a motorcycle crash...). But the Garmin just does fitness better, I'm afraid to say, especially as the Watch 4 doesn't have as many health features as the latest ones do. I am planning to get an Ultra possibly the new model if they announce it next month, but I am concerned about its weight (41g as opposed to 48g currently). And my Apple Watch 4? Still unmarked on the glass.

How are the syncing problems? I have an old 4 and it still tends to desync or just literally clock out.

I used to have an Apple watch in the past, and currently have the Garmin Fenix 7X Pro (51mm). I intend to buy either the Garmin Epix 2 PRO (51mm) or the Ultra2. While I can go nearly a MONTH without charging the Garmin (while receiving Texts and all other notifications from my iPhone), we are looking at around 2 days or thereabouts with the Ultra2. I wish Apple spent a little more effort to provide at least a WEEK of battery life, and the decision would have been a LOT easier.

This year I went for the smaller Series 8 and I feel I definitely made the right choice. I've never had any durability issues with my previous aluminum Apple Watch and I prefer the smaller design for my tiny wrists. I also agree with the action button - don't feel I would really use that for anything.

Would love to see Apple unveil a titanium band designed specifically for this watch at their next keynote.

The action button, I get some people might use it, but I'm not one of those people. I just never use it and almost miss the switch. I was excited for it, just never use it. Hoping the Watch Ultra screen gets transferred to the Watch 9 as a new feature. Although likely will be reserved for the Ultra

Purchased this February…. I was prepared to not like it because of the size… I was wrong and I absolutely love it. I have my security cameras at home constantly sending notification, my preference. I get 2 days without charging. I dropped it a few times with no damage.

I’m new to Apple Watches after finally going for one after the rain literally washed away my Xiaomi band from my wrist. Went for the SE 2 out of caution (and budget) and from what I’ve seen the Ultra does everything but more Ultra-y 😂 and the things the SE 2 doesn’t do I don’t care about, like AOD or diving measurements, plus I have tiny wrists, so for now I’ll admire the Ultra from afar

So how do you get rid of scratches on an Apple Watch face ?

I bought mine with discount and worth it than the AWU2. It lasts me 2days with normal use and always-on enabled with no worries. 😊

The Apple Watch Ultra is using sapphire crystal face, much like many of my high-end watches that I have owned over the years. Much like the Ultra they where not low cost. Now using Apple Watch 6 with Smiling Case Compatible with Apple Watch Series 6/SE/Series 5/Series 4 44mm with Built in Tempered Glass Screen Protector which I have had for around two years last time I replace it. Knowing the Apple Watch 6 like my previous Apple Watch 4 did not have a sapphire crystal face which had deep scratches I purchased a screen protector. Now after this clip and looking at my existing screen protector with micro scratches all over it. I just placed an order of another Smiling Case screen protector at a whopping cost of $ 8.78 US after taxes. Low cost to once again have a super clear screen to look at. Once new health monitoring comes to the Apple Watch it might be a point at which I move to whatever version of the Ultra they have out at that time. Again young people talk about the price. Those of us who have owned fine watches over the years know that watches like the Ultra are going to hold up over the years.

It’s a step up on my AWU I got 3 to 4 days battery life with AOD no workouts 👍minimum use But when I go hard 2 hours work out calls and texts morning jog Apple Pay my purchases using LTE gps directions AOD on get a good 2 days max good in enough 😎

Battery is the top reason. But I like the flat glass design. The action button activates too easily - turned it off also.

I'm a regular dude who does an hour or two of weights at the gym every day but get annoyed at the battery life of my 8 and kinda meh display brightness. I'm waiting to see what the new one brings to the table before deciding.

That sapphire display definitely holds up way better than Apple's "ceramic display" on my iPhone 14 Pro.

I think Apple should put the notes app on the watch. I'm a Watch 3 series everyday user and would be perfect for me and people who go to supermarket with buying lists and stuff like this. Better then a action button 😁

My battery life is brilliant, I don’t wear it whilst in bed so it gets turned off, plus I never wear it for work (I’m off sick ATM so it gets worn a lot more) love the large display as I wear reading glasses

Order my Ultra 2 from a series 6, can’t wait. Better on my series 6 is awful.

The action button being pressed inadvertently is the biggest issue with the Watch Ultra. They need to redesign that.

Hello, I love my Apple Watch Ultra too. I’m a female and a lot of people say it’s too big for female wrist but once I put it on at the Apple Store I was sold on it. I love it. I came from a series 6 40 mm The most I’ve gotten out of it is about 40 hours before I had to recharge it. I could’ve gotten more because I still had 18% left from the 100% charge so I probably could’ve squeezed maybe another 4 to 5 hours out of that so keep that in mind that you probably could get a couple of days out of it, but I don’t know about three.

In my opinion I think people should only purchase this if they’re gonna use the “ultra” features such as diving or endurance races. If you’re not doing these just go with the normal Apple watch. You’ll save money and you won’t look ridiculous with this brick on your wrist. I’ve done 2 triathlons and 2 separate marathons with the ultra and I’m glad apple made a watch that could could actually handle the races and doesn’t run out of battery a quarter through the race but I still think 49mm is way too big. Especially for the shape of the Apple Watch. I have a 7 1/4 inch wrist and my wrist looks like a twig. If apple some how made a smaller ultra it would be perfect.

The main problem I have with this watch is it’s pretty much stuck at 800 bucks. I haven’t seen ANY sale or price drop and it’s really sad because I love everything about the ultra

I love the Apple Watch Ultra - I agree with your durability and battery life comments. I also love the Action button - I’ve got it set to the general ‘Workout’ option and then select the activity that I’m performing (walking, running, golf, and so on). It’s great.

Still think its too soon for a ultra 2

I returned it. To big on the wist and to chunky. Switched to the 8 series and feels much more comfortable for me. And in the end, the 8 and the ultra do the same things. Batterywise the 8 gives me 2 days and I don't find it worth the extra $ 400,- to upgrade to the Ultra.

The glass is made from real sapphire, which is why it doesn’t scratch easily, but it’s still not the highest quality sapphire.

Ultra long-term would be 5 years, which is how long I usually keep an Apple Watch. I want to know how the battery holds up. WHERE IS THE FIVE YEAR REVIEW????? Travel through time already.

Why is the echo so bad?

Note to everyone, the battery will barely last 48 total hours on a full charge with minimal notifications. It doesn’t last for days and days.

The watch is not big at all on a normal to large wrist and not heavy. Its worth it for display, speakers, titanium and battery alone. Had most every model Apple watch prior and several Garmins. No buyer remorse here.

I mean, it is sapphire and if the iPhone it’s gonna be made of titanium might as well put sapphire on it specially with that jump in price I’ve seen rumored. That’ll be awesome

The reason the apple watch has less scratches than your iphone is the apple watch has sapphire where as your iphone as gorilla glass.

Title is misleading about battery life, there are watches in this price range that offer more and battery lasts 10x more.

Same grade of sapphire glass will make the prices go up by atleast 99$ as per Apple taxe standards. Garmin watches have a higher grade sapphire glass. But the one on the Ultra is good enough.

I've seen many petite women wearing it and it just looks silly on them. Just as it looked completely silly on me as well, as a 5'5 125 dude. I cannot imagine that Apple won't be releasing a 47mm version next month.

Goodbye good battery life on watch ultra one. WatchOS 10 has completely ruined battery life on this specific model. It’s horrendous. I agree about the scratch free glass. Not a single scratch on mine. Shaphire glass did the job. Same glass is used on iphone lenses.

But why must it look like a 20 dollar piece toy? I mean there are literally dozens of smart watches that have the exact same form and look. Is this for little kids? I mean in a high class party it could not even begin to compare to the other craftsmanship of even a 200 dollar fine watch. Honestly For 800 dollars it should look like a damn mavado!

I still struggle to see the utility in having one of these. My phone screen tells me the time when I need it and the last thing I need is to try and operate apps using a tiny touch screen that slides around on my wrist. In fact, I’ll probably get Apple’s biggest sized iPhone because I’m all about bigger screens, not smaller ones. Better to save the $800 and invest that into getting a higher capacity smartphone.

You lose all credibility by recommending the Ultra because of its "incredible battery life". I guess you only consider Apple products, which are seriously lacking in battery life when compared to almost any other watch on the market.
