Lol, I think your over thinking it! I upgraded from a series 5 to the ultra. I love it. I transferred my cellular over to it. I like I can use both watches, you just put it on and lift your arm and it sinks with the phone. So I can wear my five while charging the ultra. I tend to miss calls and messages it I don’t have my watch on. The cellular stays with the ultra. I leave my phone home as long as I have my watch on. Less to carry around. I’m not worried about cracking the crystal either. Apples target audience is anyone with money.
Informational, thanks, but you still don't have a conclusion and same for me. I'm wearing a mid-priced Garmin and I find it hard to choose an upgrade. Thanks anyway.
Hi Chan, thanks for watching and your commend. You’re right: I don’t have a conclusion yet. It’s hard, when throwing Garmin into the equation! As I type this, I have an Epix on one arm and an AWU on the other. My next video (or the one after that, depending on which one I finish editing first) is exactly about this. As of RIGHT NOW-pre-filming-my temptation is just to keep the Garmin for the metrics and add the Apple Watch 7 ($309 at Target right now) for all the smartwatch features. That would be more expensive than just the AWU, though, but if you have the income (and don’t mind wearing 2 watches), definitely an option. If you decide on the Apple Watch, I’m exploring the following apps which make the Watch SORT act like a Garmin: Athlytic ($35/yr), Stress Monitor ($30/yr), Gymaholic ($40/yr), and WorkOutDoors ($6, one time). You’re still missing the fantastic organization and integration, but that’s done a lot for me from the fitness side. (Don’t know about other features, like the trucking and piloting tools.) Best of luck, and let me know what you decide.
@@NorbReviews Thank you for making more videos on this subject. You're getting my subscription now. I don't want to mess with two watches, because you'll end up with two platforms and many more additional apps to deal with such as music, data integration, sleep analytics, maps,... you get my point. While you're at the apps, would you mind include Run Gap which imports activities data such as Garmin, to Apple platform (but not the other way round). Since Apple watches weren't sports watch until now, I think there're tons of people who have their data on other apps/platforms who may need this option. Thx.
In my tests with regular usage I got a solid 2 days from the Ultra with the default configuration and standard use (including a couple of GPS-tracked workouts and some listening to audiobooks). It was at 5% at 48 hours, never set to low power mode. A friend of mine did an experiment to see how much time he could get and he was able to stretch it to 8 days on the lowest power modes, no workout tracking of any sort, no wifi, no always-on screen, and limited Bluetooth. (I would not recommend this mode unless you just wanted to turn it into a fairly standard watch.) I was at 13% at 24 hours with the Series 7, including one GPS-tracked workout.
@@NorbReviews what happens when you activate low power mode? can you still use it as normal or will it turn off some functions when the low mode is on?
@@vincecool72 It turns off background heart rate measurements, heart rate notifications, irregular rhythm notifications, blood oxygen measurements, as well as the always-on screen, and it limits Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, limiting the frequency of notifications. You can still use it pretty much as normal, but a lot of what’s happening in the background is curtailed.
Bought the AWU a few weeks ago and love it. better battery and durability than my S7. I felt like I had to baby the S7 and have over 50% battery before I left the house
That’s awesome! Honestly, battery life was probably my single biggest reason for choosing the AWU over the cheaper S7. (Also, my wife took the S7 and so, clearly, I had no other choice!)
Qual buscas? El Ultra o el 7? Perdóname, pero nunca he usado AliExpress. Normalmente uso Amazon o Apple directamente. Por ejemplo: * Apple Watch Ultra - amzn.to/3XCszWc * Apple Watch Series 8 - amzn.to/3OD7arQ * Apple Watch Series 7 - amzn.to/3F0MVRL
It’s on my list :-) I have a few videos I need to complete before it, but that one will happen, as well as a fine tuning guide. Because it’ll take me a while, any questions I can answer?
@@NorbReviews I was also wondering about how loud the Sony ch710n’s volume gets. I was considering picking these up if drop under $100 but I’ve heard they are really quiet even at max volume
@@JuztBillz - Wait, the xb910n or the CH710n? Re: 710 - Quiet is relative. They’re not the loudest, true, but I found them to be just fine for most cases, and wouldn’t describe them as “really quiet.” Note that I tend to listen to my music at 50-60dB, which isn’t loud. They let a lot of noise in compared to the 910n or XM5, for example, and the noise canceling is… meh. It’s fine for the price, but I think SoundCore’s Life Q35 is about the same price and has better sound and ANC. (Actually, this goes into something called the Equal Loudness Curve or the Fletcher-Munson Curve. Crinacle gives a really simple rundown here, at about the 8min mark. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9kTOvdo_6RU.html Short of it: At lower volumes you get less bass and treble. So if you increase these in EQ, you can get a “louder” sound with a lower volume. Unfortunately, the 710n doesn’t have the Sony Headphones App EQ, so you’d need a 3rd party EQ to get this. The XB910N DOES have EQ, but it also has redonkulous bass, meaning you just need to tune the upper treble. But back to my point: the 710n isn’t the loudest, but it’s not quiet, and some of this might just have to do with its not-so-great default tuning. Side note: I tend to hate the Sony default tuning for their headphones.) If you’re OK with refurb, you can find the 710n for $50 in the regular in the Secondipity eBay shop, although they don’t have any available now. (I’ve bought a lot of stuff from them and 100% recommend them. And in fact, the XB910N are $100 there now, though I’ve seen them dip to $80.)
