I'm glad Apple is bold enough to try to create an entirely new genre of headphone. The innovation to add a wire is astonishing: gives a place to put a microphone, a full set of controls, and secures them in case they fall out of your ears. What a time to be alive!

As much as I like my AirPods Pro and use it with my iPhone and Mac, I still keep an old pair of wired EarPods with me. Despite their age, they still sound pretty good and I use them whenever I do video editing due to the lack of latency. Also, I still use them for voice calls because their mics are also excellent for the price. As much as Apple cares about lot more about their AirPods which makes sense given how much money they make from them, I’m glad they still sell and updated their wired EarPods.

@@rikdas5111 with the latest gen AirPods Pro, I would say they do sound better overall. The sound just has more balance when listening to music compared to the EarPods. Although, EarPods do sound more bassy. So if that’s your preference, you may actually prefer the older design.

As someone that’s gone through 6-7 pairs of EarPods over the last couple years, (usually 1 a year). Here’s what I think I appreciate that they do not have foam tips which means they stay clean and are easy to clean when they do actually get dirty. The in-line controls are appreciated but I don’t use them too often. The mic is the #1 reason I get them since they’re awesome for talking on my phone since people came actually hear and understand me without any of the compression or latency that comes with AirPods and since the mic is actually in front of your mouth people can hear you better. The number one failure point for me is there the two cables meet in the little Y shaped part. Other then that they’re awesome

My guess is the wired analog signal gives you a much wider array of sound. Whereas the wireless Bluetooth buds compress the audio signal much more. I would imagine that's why they can be louder, because the wired is able to deliver higher power?

It's not necessarily just the microphone that makes the recording from the wired ones sound better - it's a limitation of bluetooth itself. Aside from headphones that use proprietary protocols (which in turn means limited software support) bluetooth as a protocol simply doesn't have a standardized means of delivering high quality audio from a microphone - the mic support was invented for phone calls after all.

I was on a FaceTime call with my boy with the ap pros mag safe ( not 2nd gen) earlier and saw these at my local carrier shop. I plugged them in and as soon as I switched my friends who had no ear for audio, was immediately able to hear the difference. Even more so when I switched to voice ISO. I just hate the sound leakage but the fact you can check decibel levels in the control center is mind blowing in a pair of wired cheap plug ins.

I've used each variation of this style of apple earbud (headphone jack -- tons of pairs -- and lightning version for many many years) because they're so convenient and far more comfortable than any airpods variations while laying down or doing things in the house. Easily my most used earbuds. I expected Apple to just update them to a usbc version to go along with the new phones, but the fact they updated the audio is a huge bonus and I'm looking forward to getting a couple pairs to use for the next few years.

Good thing u made this video, else I would never know about this, even in apples website I had to dig deep to find this. I wanted an headphone for a very long time for my iPad pro (no headphone jack) but did not want to pay ₹20000 for airpods. Here in India earpods costs ₹2000, nearly 1/10th of the price of airpods, I ordered it immediately.

I wonder if they’re better than the 3mm. So I can connect to the computer through usb c with better sound.

On my S23 everything "works" but the gain of the microphone is way to high (with a lot of background noise) and there is no way to adjust that :/

Just wondering if can get lossless audio as well when connecting to older iPhones with usbc to lightning adapter?

You should be able to. The reason lightning earpods didn't support lossless is because the DAC inside of them doesn't support a high enough bitrate or sample rate.

Standard lossless (44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, 16 and 24 bit) works, whether you're using USB-C, Lightning, or USB-C with a Lightning adapter (I've tried it, it works). It only uses a USB 1.1 connection regardless. Hi-res lossless above 48 kHz is not supported unless you have a 3rd-party adapter that supports high sample rates.
