Note: Restart ATV after you’ve plugged in the ethernet cable, if it doesn't work, change the ip configuration to manual and then back to automatic and restart.
This worked great on my apple TV2. I think it was exposed to a power surge a couple months ago which caused ethernet problems and I have been trying to get it going on wifi. This is the solution that worked! THANKS!
This works! I am stunned. Make sure that all the insulation is removed from the the cables and then wind the tiny wires together. Now I can use the apple TV again!
Your solution worked ! I made my own ethernet cable and it worked - I guess the shielding of a manufactured cable interferes with the ethernet port ... random ! Thanks heaps buddy ! :)
OMG!! I've been fighting this issue for days with not wifi option not even appearing! Sorta hated to cut one of my good Ethernet patch cables, but it was worth it! Honestly, I was skeptical that this would solve the issue .... BUT IT DID. Thanks a bunch man!!!!!!
Thank you so much it really works I managed to fix a few Apple 2nd and 3rd gens this way, you have to take an Ethernet cable plug it in and then cut it in half and pull the wires until you get to the copper then wrap them together to cause a short on the Ethernet port which restores the Wifi connection, if you good with soldering you can also open the apple tv and inside where the ports pins connect to the board you can solder them together and so far with all of them this has been a permanent fix to restore wifi
Bewar Maronsi I wish you could find a solution for another common problem with the opposite you also get a problem where you connect to Wifi but it won't get any internet, maybe it's just the Wifi module on the Apple TV that is faulty, really thank you so much I've fixed about 8 of them now with what you suggested, Biji Kurdistan Bro
Hello! I create Ethernet cable with your instructions, but nothing happened after restart. ATV cant find any wifi ssid! What I do wrong? I have ATV3 restored with last updates. And I cant understand that: "if it doesn't work, change the ip configuration to manual and then back to automatic and restart" because no connections and is nothing to change
genius!!!!! it worked on my apple tv 2nd generation thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu ;) put an aluminium foil inside the apple tv Ethernet and plug in the cable and no need to cut it !!!
Hey brother, I want to thank you for this video. I was a little skeptical and tried to find other videos related to the issue i was having with my Apple TV Gen 3. Not sure what made you try this but it straight up worked. Good looking out man.
Bewar Maronsi Please can you help me, when you connect the Ethernet cable and you cut it open do you cut the 10 or 20 odd wires inside open and let them touch each other or do the cables within the Ethernet cable stay sealed?
