A really special handmade gift for a good friend in Florida. It up to you guys to make this a viral hit. Share, like and comment your brains out or you might get an ice chest in the mail.......
It's amazing how it worked _exactly_ as you planned it, twice! On the technical side you really should show more builds like that. This is where your experience and engineering genius shines. I think the amount of technical know-how per minute in this episode beats any other video of yours.
April Fools perfection Tom. The best thing is Adam has a well equipped shop and I could see the wheels already turning when I watched his video. Loved it guys!
Rube Goldberg eat your heart out! I was giggling the whole time as the video played, and I haven't watched Adam's episode yet. So, without further ado I'm headed to virtual Florida to see the results of such malicious tricksery! Very good stuff Tom, thanks for the great laugh...after yesterday's horror show I really needed that! Faith in humanity has been restored...Aloha, Chuck.
Tom, Another awesome video capturing some great machine work and ingenuity, in the name of fun. Watching the slow-mo from the gopro POV really cracked me up. I'm off to watch Adam's video to see how it all worked out.
One thing that stands out to me, is the friendship between you and Adam. It's only the closest of friends that would put the thought, time and energy into such an awesome April Fools gift. Great video!
Somewhere in the dark halls of CALOSHA an incident investigator just suffered a rectal contraction so severe, his eyeballs popped! Nice work you evil genius!
Tom,fun stuff.Seeing the red ice chest.Had to remember when I worked for UPS would get stool samples in them to be shipped to Portland and the lab.Glad I never got at my house.LOL
Tom I saw Abombs video and you must have him pegged really good. That was very well done......you got him very good. Can't wait for the retaliation!!!!! What a talented prank, crafty as hell. GV
Hey Tom, I was getting a little worried when you were talking about "rat traps". A great joke. You even included a GoPro to catch the action! I saw Adam's video. Funny stuff! Oxen Dave
Hi Tom, Very well played my friend, Great April Fools Prank to say the least! Joke aside, your design and build was excellent, you just might have built the million dollar gag gift!
Man when I watched Aboms channel I had to come and see how you put this contraption together. That shit was way to funny good job and keep up the awesome vids Ox...
No one can say machinists is boring, the same with being vindictive...LOL. Awesome, just awesome...no such thing as overkill, just a guarantee that it's going to work, thanks for sharing
Big hats off 2 ya mate ,, that was hilarious,, it is sooo kewl 2 watch someone who gets it,, why have all that talent if u can't have fun with it,,I mean that build was masterful,,, which IS a dying art,,, to actually think and make something instead of just buying on A or e,,, you are fulfilling my dreams vicariously mate,, I have dreamed about doing this kinda stuff since I was oh I duno,,, 3 hehe,, Thanks for keeping the dreams and the arts alive You Are indeed a Master Craftsman !!!!!
Adam was SO looking forward to those pastries. He went from "That Tom, what a nice guy" to "why you rat basxxxx!" in about 1/2 millisecond. It was pretty funny. He took it so well. 😂😂😂😂 John
That was a hell of an elaborate prank, sir! The only way I can think to make it better would be to offset the can on a pivot so it would rocket around in a circle and hose the whole room :)
Hi mate. I spent some time in the Dutch bomb squat, and I can tell you this, Please don't start building bombs, we might have some problems dismantling the thing. That is a very elaborate gag, but than you are known, not to spare costs and time on a good prank. Well done mate, well done.
Super great April Fools Tom .. I watched the big pastry reveal ! NOT.. LOL.. You put a lot of time and know how into this one man ! Look out it's coming back 4 fold ..LOL..
After my analysis I have a conclusion that I ill share. This was expertly designed , the machining was done to a very high degree .Superbly done all around. Now for my conclusion, You guys have waaaaay to much time on your hands . I thought last yer with the box welded shut was wild but this one is raised to new heights of screwballness . Last year I predicted a submarine welded shut was going to be delivered to somebody. I will stick to that prediction along with thi is how WW1 started. yours in appreciation and weirdness Al
Genius Tom love it.. I see you have been testing the sharpness of your knife on your arm.? .... As a knife maker my arm always looks like that lol take care lee
Liked the ideas for the little actuators plus built in safety devices while testing. An idea for you in exchange: get one of those greeting cards you can record your voice into and rig it up so that when your practical joke is opened you can laugh at them too.
For creativity I award 10/10. I wonder though what would have happened if the postal system had ran it through an X-ray scanner - best not to think about it. Phil
Hi Tom, That was friggin hilarious! The expression on your face was priceless! I can see that you take your practical jokes seriously. Now I have to watch Adam's video where he opens up your "surprise"! Thanks for sharing this. -mike
See I was thinking a super rat trap that would just rip the can in two and explode silly string everywhere, but then again I am kind of a go big guy. LOL
Tom, I didn't have time to read through all the messages but, what activates the camera? This was a great lighted hearted humor build that works flawlessly. Thanks for the laugh! Ken
I saw Adam open the ice box cooler and it was funny when he open it man. I enjoy this video just as much as Adams even though I knew what was going to happen.
oxtoolco Well that explains why it was cutting so easily lol. Thanks for the reply. I was wondering why you would go through the trouble to machine a big metal part for the spray can, when you could have used something easier.
Tom, you amaze me with your mechanical genius and creativity. I have been a subscriber for over 2 years. Is Ox Tools a "hobby shop", and if so what is your actual profession? You mentioned in a recent video that you were really busy at work and that got me wondering.
EXCELLENT! I APPLAUD YOUR EFFORTS! Saw you use a "Gatlin Gun" punch and die set for you aluminum angle. Since I am ignorant, that is a new tool for me.
tom just getting "watched" on all the older stuff ive missed .. i like the idea , and the planning the trigger mechanism though i believe to be over engineered the torsion on the trap spring should exceed the pressure to activate the spray by a substantial margin ..using a second spring loaded trigger release as you have seems far too complicated when an arm and wedge on a pivot could use the main spring to to trigger the spray... either way itll work but i have always been a proponent of "kiss" principal as always thanks for the laughs and the vids
Haha! Good job Tom. On the indexing marks you did in the lathe. How come you didn't just lay the level on the side of one of the 6 available hardened ground flats, guess you just like livin on the edge-balancing the level on top of the Chuck. :)
Morgan Oliff Hey Morgan, It wasn't as precarious as it may have looked on video. There is a notch it sat in and rested securely. I think it would have also sat on the jaws nicely but didn't look as good on video. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Tom
Tom, way too much time on your hands. If you find yourself getting bored I have 11 acres that need annual springtime weed abatement. Loved it, Randy DeGregori
dont wanna be a pooper, but if the post office xray it, decide its something to open, might find something at your door that isnt an aprils fool, however id mount it so the trap swings over and smashes the nozzle off the can, making it unstoppable, and exchange it for some of that joke air freshener that turns into a skunk smell sometime later
Engineers and their pranks. Nice one. That'll look good on that Abom79 shirt. Give you a mill and a lathe out in the wilderness and you could probably make a hell of a deadfall trap in a survival situation.
