I found your channel a couple of weeks ago through your 9 to 5 vlogs and loved them so much. I nearly watched all your videos up to this point. At the moment I suffer from severe depression as I lost my job recently and reading fantasy helped me a lot. I am so excited that you also now are in your reading era and I am really looking forward to your book related videos. ❤
I am so pleased you are enjoying the vlogs - and i couldn't agree more about fantasy books being a wonderful escape when we need it. Sending you lots of love ❤️
Came to the comments hoping I wasn’t the only one feeling this way. Missing the old skool Ellen vlogs! Good luck with your next steps, lovely! I have loved making these big, scary leaps during my career x
I love your bookish content🤩🤩🤩 glad to hear this is going to be a regular feature! All the best with navigating this new season in your life, wishing you well and I’m sure many doors will open for you ❤❤
I can see how much you love the books and talking about them and that‘s all that matters because that’s authentically you and that‘s why I love watching your videos
Ellen I really really love to read books so so so so much and I really really needed this vlog you are my inspiration and I wish you have a blessed weekend🥹😭♥️♥️
Loving all your content, two a week focusing on books and a blog sounds perfect. I’ve just started powerless and can’t put it down. Hope you enjoy it. Good luck starting your new chapter ❤xx
Hi Ellen, I enjoy all of your content and I follow a lot of book tube channels so I'm someone who appreciates book content. One of my favorite creators has two linked channels, one for her lifestyle content and one for her book content and that seems to work well for her.
Hi Ellen, I absolutely love your book reviews and chats about what you are going to be reading/have read. You are definitely inspiring me to try other genres and I'm hoping to jump into Fantasy for the first time this Month once I have cleared my current shelf of thrillers (nearly there) please keep going with these type of vlogs! You definitely have a good balance with your vlogs as I enjoy all of them! I only found you before Christmas and look forward to them each week. So excited to be seeing your Wednesday content too! Thanks!
Loved watching this! I've definitely added few to my TBR after watching 😂 I enjoyed Wild Love as a nice romance (vs my constant romantasy read) - I also really enjoyed Powerless! I had to push through the first part but then got really into it and the last third is brilliant ❤ xx
Loving the book stuff. I left my 9-5 job a couple of months ago.too. Unfortunately it was due to burn out. So I’ve been resting and reading, so it’s been great getting your recommendations. I’ve just finished Fourth Wing, which helped me get over my SJM hangover ❤. …and have got six of crows and crooked kingdom to start soon.
gosh i know the feeling of 9-5 burnout - and good for you resting and reading, we have to take care of ourselves! hoping i get to six of crows and fourth wing this month! 🥰❤️
Great vlog again😉 I so 💜 the reading vlog - as I mentioned in your other vlog I love all your vlog but especially enjoy the reading vlog & watching you get so excited about reading!! I’ve been a reader forever & get just as excited as you do about books it’s kinda funny most of the book you mentioned in your May tbr are either on my tbr as well or I’ve had my eye on them so can’t wait!! Enjoy them & I can’t wait for your new vlog whichever one you post but PS: if you move your books to a new channel please let us know I’ll definitely watch both!!
How about some of the classics? Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights are the ultimate romantic novels :) The tenant of Wildfell Hall is good too! :) The book content is great!
Jane Eyre is probably one of my most re-read books ever! I used to be really big into the classics when I was younger, I even had a strong Hemmingway phase and i can confirm reading faerie romances is definitely more fun than poor hemmingway 😂 - but i should definitely do a video talking about some of my fav classics! and thank you so much for the book content love 🥰❤️
Loving the bookish videos! Carrie Soto is back was really good (I read it during Wimbledon week which was perfect) and so was Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. On lighter thrillers, you may enjoy the Silent Patient. Happy reading and wishing you the best in this next chapter of your life ❤ x
i have a vlog where i talk all about them - i'll link it here! but i would definitely start with ACOTAR, read the whole series, then start Throne of Glass and read the whole series and finally finish with Crescent City series 🥰 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PjATvdl-fns.html
Love your book content!!!!❤I’m a huge reader. Love fantasy right now. Reading thrown of glass on 2nd book can’t put it down oh my gosh. Have crescent city books to read next. Just got Bride to detox from Sarah J lol. Ordering Fourth wing. Please keep the reading content. A channel for just reading would be amazing. Love your book choices
You are so talented that I am certain this next chapter of your story will be successful. I love the book and lifestyle content and am so excited you will be posting twice a week. I have the Emily Henry book Happy Place and have been waiting to read it so I would love to read it at the same time. I also have been wanting to read Carrie Soto is back. I think you’ve compiled a great reading list for May and I look forward to exploring new genres with you!
I discovered your channel through this video. I am considering starting the "Divine Rituals" series soon - that cover artwork is great. Hope you have a great month. Happy Reading! 😎📚👍
Loved this video of yours, this is my first time watching you, and your May TBR is so similar to mine, yay!!! can't wait to read the books together. Please continue with your bookish videos :) P.S. You should read Fourth Wing (I'm sure you're gonna love it)
Enjoy your freedom! 🤗✨ I will miss your 9-5 videos, but I’m also looking forward to more content! I’m reading the Caraval series now as I noticed they were set before Once upon a broken heart they do not disappoint! It’s a bit less romance, but still a cozy read. I’m gonna finish her books first, then the sequel of Fourth Wing and then dive right back into SJM’s world as I’ve still two series to go! So much books haha📚🫶🏻 Looking forward to your next month book video and your opinion on Fourth Wing in case you’re going to read it!
Hey Ellen it’s Emily from your old 9-5!!! Loved this vlog! I’m into books too and I’ve committed to reading a book a month. On month 10 now! Not quite as many books as you. I think I need to up the ante now LOL. I’ve just bought A Court of Thorn & Roses for my May read after you recommended it so will let you know how I get on with it! Lots of love ❤
Hello Ellen! I'm an avid bookreader as well. I've read Fourth Wing and have a few hang ups with that book, including the writing style and had way too similar instances to other really big popular books (like Shadow & Bone, GoT, and ACOTAR). I never really read thrillers/suspense before but one of my friends got me into it and I loved it - I absolutely could not put it down and read them til 3 in the morning! The books I recommend for thriller/suspense genre are The One by John Marrs and The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.
Love the book content 🥰 You should use goodreads. It’s great to track your reading and follow books reviews. Maybe I’m wrong but I think you should read Malibu rising before Carrie Soto. Have not read Carrie Soto yet but I have read Malibu rising and she is mentioned in that book. Love your content❤️
oo okay thats an interesting take! maybe i'll do that and read malibu rising first - i love it when i can connect characters across books - and thank you for the love for the book content ❤️
Hey Ellen, loving your vlogs lately, they are so relaxing and chill and interesting and inspire me to enjoy things like the books I used to read prior to having my kids and feel like it brings a bit of me back. That makes no sense I’m sure!! Anyway, feel embarrassed to ask but what does D&F mean? 🙈 xx
Hi Ellen! Ok so, I never ever commented on a RU-vid video before, but today I really felt like I had to. I absolutely love your content, all of it, and being a big reader myself, I am a big fan and this new book focused content! My life is very similar to yours (at least until your contract ended), and I actually think we would be friends in real life! I wanted to say thank you, thank you so much for all your videos that really radiate positivity and put me in such a good mood, even on days when I am not at my best! I wish you plenty of amazing things, sending you tones of good vibes, and I can’t wait for your next videos!!
I am a book lover /book worm like yourself❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤And because of watching your joy in reading , you have truly helped me come out of a reading slump ! Just purchased Happy Place - Emily Henry too😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊Happy Reading from a fave sub here in Tanzania- East Africa 🇹🇿
Wow Ellen😊 what a coincidence that your family lived in Dar es Salaam for 20 years! So glad I mentioned my home country. I live in the town of Arusha where I was raised by my parents but I was born in Nairobi. Then studied university at UCT and gave birth to my 3 sons in Cape Town . It was such a pleasure coming across your wonderful channel.
Im not into reading enough to watch book focused content, but just love your videos so here i am!😊 Though i am intrigued, do you keep all the books you buy? Do you donate some? Must have a good collection if keep them!❤😂
Thanks Ellen for another lovely video. I love your book content and vlogs too. As well as the overall book rating, it would be good if you could also give a spice rating too x
Happy Place is definitely a fun summer read, along with Beach Read by Emmy Henry as well! Also I’ve been trying to figure out Notion as well, so I would love to see how you set up your book list/TBR just to get some ideas, so if you decide to to do a video on it before you feel totally confident, it would feel like we are figure it out together.
i've officially filmed a notion tour of where i'm at with it - will be up on sunday. But you'll have to be patient with me, i definitely don't have it all figured it out yet 😂❤️
I highly recommend you read The Mortal Instruments series. It’s long. It’s great. The show made about it sucks - don’t ever watch that. But the books! And there’s ALSO The name of The Wind. The best well written book ever. It’s so nice. Again a mix of real world and fantasy. Magical realism.
Hi Ellen, Love your passion and enthusiasm for books!! And may i suggest "the man in the high castle" by Philip k Dick that's a thriller for you! also how are you really!! finding not having your 9-5 job alongside RU-vid? Anyway have a good week👍
Love the mix with one book vlog and one from daily life 🤩 Good luck with your new life without employment. Have you considered to start your own business? I am a business owner and love the freedom that comes with that. Its hard work but so rewarding to design your own life that way ✨
Thank you! And yes I actually started a small business a few years ago and boy was it HARD, i have so much respect for you! I couldnt agree more that it was so rewarding though, I will definitely circle back to growing my own business one day, but boy was I naive going into it the first time🙈❤️
12:47 to me it's the same. I loved the first book, but the second one didn't get me. l went till the end, but hated it, unfortunately. If you liked the first book, maybe you should try The Bridge Kingdom. Tells the story of a warrior that marries a king to then kill him. It's really really good!!
i know such a shame! i hate it when the sequels don't measure up 😭 oo i haven't got the bridge kingdom on my list yet - i'll add it, thank you for the recommendation!
I love your book content! I am a thriller book lover. I think you would love In a Dark Dark Wood by Ruth Ware, Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister, Something In The Water by Catherine Steadman, or another good YA thriller is A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. None of those are scary just keep you on the edge of your seat 😊
oo amazing - thats exactly what i want, edge of seat, not terrified and sleeping with the light on 😂😂 thank you for the recommendations, adding them to my list!
Hi Ellen, you know I am your biggest fan. Okay not true. Cam is your biggest fan en then.your family. But here on you tube I think I may say I am. I like all your content. Also the books. But I admit it is a lot at the moment and cause it is a lot you keep repeating the same thing over and over about the books you've read. Now for me it is ok, I watch anyway. But I just saying it cause I don't want to see you lose viewers about that. I like to watch your channel grow. But I wanna ask if it is possible to do your usually vlogs on sunday and the bookvideo's on wednesday? I like to start my week with a normal vlog from you if you get what I mean 🙈🤷♀️ cause you inspire me. And it feels good to start the week inspired by you. Wish you a lovely week ❤❤❤
A mix of 'normal' stuff and books are on their way! ❤️ the posting times between wednesday and sunday will probably be a bit inconsistent and sometimes there might be 2 book ones in a row etc - the nature of a lifestyle channel is it will go and flow with my life 🥰 but thank you for letting me know your thoughts xxx
Felt compelled to comment. I prefer the book content because your passion and enthusiasm shines through, its fantastic go with it! Vlogs are good but these are brilliant 😍 Millions of book lovers out there yet to stumble over here 😃🥰🥳
Too much on the book stuff, easy content I guess. Your recent regular videos had gotten very short and essentially of no real content, in comparison to videos earlier for sure. Unfortunately this new direction wont keep me on your channel.
