This is a very beautiful and serene composition, and the whole backdrop to this video is just stunning! I really liked this performance and this piece was played beautifully.
John Horde if you are still looking for good beginner pieces through moderate check out mark fords book. I can’t quite remember the name but it contains things like fry, Manhattan, Kain, and stone man.
@@spookiedukey its called technique through music by mark ford, contains some beginner pieces like fry and oakland,. i started out with those and they're great for beginners who want to start learning 4 mallets. ;)
I love how you played this! You looked comfortable playing it and looked like you were having fun with the music! I was wondering where you found the sheet music. I'd love to play this for my next semester in college. 🖤🖤🖤
Always thought this solo sounded better in the 4.3 octave range than its original 5 octave version. It makes it much more vibrant and dreamlike that way
this sounds gorgeous!! usually i find it pretty difficult to take simpler 4 mallet pieces and make them sound super musical and good, and this is probably the best job i've ever seen anyone do with a piece like this.
friendly recommendation: if you're going to use burton grip, I would wrap the mallet shafts in grip tape, or be sure your back three fingers are always applying the right amount of pressure, in order to get rid of those pesky "stick clicks". otherwise, nice recording!
I know u are sick of me but I need to mention the original version is longer. This version is played an octave higher and has bits cut out from it to make it shorter. I prefer this version much more than the original . Props to you.
Burton grip on the marimba! #becausemusic Great playing girl, keep it up and come to PASIC the next time it's in San Antonio so maybe we can see you perform??? [=
I just found this today, and I can't stop coming back to it because it's so expressive and beautiful!! Fantastic job :) If I may ask, do you know where I could find/buy sheet music for it? (without it being $30, but if that's the lowest, then so be it). I'm asking so I have an opinion on where the cheapest place could be. Thanks! :)

Hi! i thought you performed this piece beautifully, and from reading other comments you've changed the music to fit a 4.3 octave marimba. I was really wondering if i could get the sheets for your version :O
Hi! I love the performance! Quick question, are you playing that an octave higher than written? Because I watched other performances and it sounds an octave lower. I'm not criticizing you, I just wanted to know because i only have a 4.3 octave marimba available and I would love to play that piece an octave higher if it was possible!
Omg how many times did you have to play this piece to make this video?? There are like 500 different aesthetic video shots put over a studio-recorded clip
Actually she is using a grip called traditional grip, it was the first 4 mallet grip created and it differs from burton in the way that the mallets are split and the way they are stacked, if you want to look at specifics, here is a link, www.uh.edu/~tkoozin/projects/WanHwaLow/Overview.html
I think she is using traditional because her outer mallet is coming out of in-between her middle finger and pointer, where as Burton comes out of her ring and middle.
rhineheart of the abyss she is using a lot of forearm... to fix this i would practice using only your wrist and try to sound as best as possible. Forearm is used to move around the board but you should use your wrist rotation to actually hit the mallet. If you ever study Stevens grip this is even more important
The only thing that bothers me, and i dont know how professional she is so im not going to judge harshly, but as ive started to prefer stevens more than burtons, the rattan click of burtons bothers me. So i prefer to stick with stevens.
I say this as im looking for solos to perform and my Director hates the rattan click so if we use burtons we have to practice in order to not get the click. I mean nothing harsh by this comment ^.^
