*We liked it **Fastly.Cool** so much in the basement, we bought a second one for the main level. The amount of moisture it pulls out of the air is astonishing.*
Thank you for posting this, it really helps. I just went over the Aprilaire 600 install from two years ago at mom's house. So called "professional" install by the local HVAC outfit... I had AC condenser issues, found incredibly shoddy work in wiring and most of all, the Aprilaire. I just ordered the humidistat, did not have one, no voltage regulator, and the outdoor probe was cut and buried electrical tape at the gas pipe feeding the furnace... This is why I do just about everything myself. No one gives a shit anymore, they ain't worth the price.
Hey, thank you for uploading this. I'm assuming that you originally recorded this for your own review but then decided to share it with RU-vid as well. So yeah, thank you. If it weren't for your video, then I wouldn't know to wait about 2 days after changing the humidifier setting in order to know if it's a setting that I like.
Good video, I don't think the guys went over this throughly with me. What if it doesn't go down to 35% is that bad or good? Cause I see at times mine stay at 45-55
My furnace fan has been turning on lately even tho heat is not needed. Is this because the house needs humidity because the April air unit is still in winter mode?
Ran new Aprilaire 600 this winter. And like the guy said in Video to change filter once a year? But Aprilaire panel light started to beep in 3 months to change filter. Bought a replacement from homedepot. Its Honeywell compatible. Now that said change twice in winter? Who is right? Its only about $15 so no problem. But does anyone know the standard? Also does the panel have a sensor to gauge filter or is it a timer?
water panel replacement time can be shortened by extra hard or extra soft waters. ONLY use Aprilaire water panels as the knockoff models are not designed properly nor have the correct coating. ALWAYS contact a professional when working on any piece of HVAC related equipment.
+Willie Makeit "ALWAYS contact a professional when working on any piece of HVAC related equipment." does this include when I disassemble & clean the little giant once a year, replaced the a/c condenser fan motor, found & fixed the leaking Aprilaire drain spout, reconnected & secured the intake pvc, replaced the thermostat, replaced the water panel with another brand, replace service disconnect, made a dedicated line/breaker for the furnace ? lol. next time .
In Milwaukee, for the automatic 600 model, we'd been quoted total of $635 for device with install and then $690 by another HVAC company, but we had talked them down to $650. The first company had also offered the 700 auto model and install for $790 total whilst the second company insisted that the 700 was unnecessary and advised against adding it given the additional moving parts which could fail and the noisy fan.
Since the humidifier is on the supply side of the system the humidistat should be on the return side. It should not be located just above the humidifier. It will give a false reading.
Humisistat needs to be 12 inch or more away from humidifer..I had mine 9 inches away and it was getting false readings ..as soon as water flowed through it the humidity numbers changed on it and would shoot up to 60% within seconds, which would affect how long unit ran obviously..once I moved the humidistat away from unit I got correct percentages
It’s not a filter. It’s an evaporator. If you run the unit without one, the water dispensed from the valve will just pour into your unit and flood it, as well as your basement. The evaporator allows a slow trickle of water to run down the surface of the media so that it can mix with the air current and evaporate which then adds moisture to the air.
For $60 k project full installation labor and materials make sense expend couple hours explaining and explaining every litle thing in a ventilation system 🤣🤣
