Thank you for sharing. Was in a crawl space recently with very high humidity. A typical portable humidifier was being used. In addition to bring inefficient I have no doubt the dehumidifier was grossly undersized.

Thank you for this timely video. I just returned the S86WMUPR wifi remote because it is my understanding from AprilAire technical support, the E080CS dehum I bought from Crawlspace Ninja is not compatible as-is with the S86 remote. They said to use the S86 remote I would either have to exchange the E80CS for an E80 or have to change the control board. I decided instead to opt for the Model 76 remote that unfortunately doesn't have wifi capability. I'm just a DIY guy so have no idea of the veracity or technical reasons for any of this stuff. Thank you

I am so sorry to hear that. I have sent your comment to Aprilaire in hopes they will correct the incompatibility with the E80CS. My apologies for the trouble it caused you.

Can I install a whole home dehumidifier in my Attic if it’s not a conditioned attic? It gets about 120 degrees up there. But I think if I could dehumidify my house I would need to use my AC as much. I live in GA.

I'm interested in this but I want to put the dehumidifier air back into the ducting system of the hvac after the coil. And, can you put the filter at the return vent instead of at the dehumidifier? Mine will be in the attic and it's difficult to get up there to change the filter.

My landlord installed this a couple of years ago after finding mold in the basement. We got a new furnace, mold removed and he had this installed. I went into the basement today and it seems to be holding up well but I noticed the hose seemed to have drooped down and is pinched. Tried to unpinch it but just goes back so it must've been like that for a bit. Do you sell replacement hoses?

Depending on the dehumidifier the temperature can be raised 10 to 25° above the temperature of the air going into the dehumidifier. I hope that helps thanks for watching.

Thanks for all your videos. For use in our cabin attic (with no duct work), how far can the supply and return be? Is 20-30 feet acceptable? Our thinking is they should be further apart so the air is pulled across the space, but we obviously have a knowledge deficit.
@CrawlSpaceNinja

I believe the Aprilaire folks like it 10 feet or less each side but I'll see if I can get a definitive answer. Thanks for watching.

From Aprilaire: The length of ductwork acceptable is based on the static pressure within the duct. Anything over 0.4” w.c. is not recommended and will substantially limit airflow. AprilAire units will function properly with up to 100 feet of 10-inch hard duct attached to each end in a straight line, but because flex duct has much higher static pressure, we wouldn’t recommend a run that long. 20-30ft should work fine, but just remember that any bends in the flex duct will create more static pressure and different brands will vary in the amount of resistance. It’s also good to note that if a reducer is used to make the duct smaller, this will also increase the static pressure and limit your ductwork run length. Because every situation is different, you may want to experiment with a longer run at first to see if humidity is being controlled properly and if not, you can always reduce the length of the ductwork or make sure that bends are limited. If you have any questions, you can always contact AprilAire technical support with the specifics and they will work with you to find the best solution. 800-334-6011

If you have time. Going into this setup deeper would be great. I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything definitive. Like can you program to change the humidity? Or is the humidity is set for heating and/or cooling and you can only program the temperature. Also the "Disable the Dehumidification with Cooling" how does it work with the thermostat? I know if you have Y terminal installed on your HVAC and "DEH W/AC" disabled, the compressor won't come on if there is cooling. My question is if it makes any sense how does this work with the settings on the dehu. Do you need "DEH W/AC enabled" on the dehu and the thermostat just doesn't engage the dehu relay if its "cooling". I'm trying figure out if this can replace my Model 76 and give me the option to toggle DEH W/AC without having to do on the Dehu.
@aprilaireco
@aprilaireco 11 месяцев назад
Thank you for your comment! AprilAire Dehumidifier set points are based on RH percentage, or dew point levels if using a Model 76 control in REMOTE mode. If the DEH W/ AC setting is set to DISABLED, then the dehumidifier needs to receive a 24V signal on the Y terminal from the HVAC system to disengage the compressor. If you want to lock out the dehumidifier during cooling you have two options: either wire it to the HVAC system (including the Y terminal) and set DEH W/ AC to DISABLED, or you can use an IAQ thermostat such as our Model S86WMUPR and disable dehumidification during cooling from the thermostat settings. If you have any additional questions, we would be happy to assist.

I wasn't sure how to answer so I sent your question to Aprilaire and here is what they said. We would like to install a dehumidifier into our existing central air/heat pump system. The air handler is in the attic, but it’s an insulated on the roof side. Is that a concern? We had someone tell us that in the winter time the drip line could freeze, but we don’t know that that’s going to be a concern because we won’t be using the dehumidifier in the winter.
@CrawlSpaceNinja
@CrawlSpaceNinja Год назад
Usually the dehumidifier does not run in winter and the AC is not creating condensation so I am not sure freezing would be an issue but I would consult a local HVAC/Insulation contractor for your area. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.

@@CrawlSpaceNinja Thank you for that response! That’s what my husband and I were thinking. Can you also tell me if this makes sense? When we had the unit installed, the company told us that they could get the next size up for the same price and we thought that sounds like a great idea because it would work more efficiently! Our new company has since said that the unit is actually too big for our house which means it cools the house off very quickly and doesn’t run long enough to do the dehumidifying and that’s why we’re having the humidity problem. Does that make sense?
@qbanb8582
@qbanb8582 11 месяцев назад
@@ckossyk I'm no HVAC guy but this can definitely be the case if what you have is a Single speed and single stage system. Because it is either running at 100% or 0%. So often times it hits the temperature that its set and stops. Multistage and variable systems can run at lower stage and speed to help dehumidify.

Im having the same issue, i tried to save money going with a "Facebook market place AC person " intalled a 4 ton unit for my little 1480sqft home, house has sprayfoam insulation so its air tight, and the ac kicks on for like 12 minutes and then it gets really cold but doesn't allow to much time to dehumidifi but im not ready to drop 11k for a new system and scrap the old one.
