What's going on guys and gals, Evolution Here! I have been riding a 50cc Geared sports bike for about a year ago now and have recently moved up to a 125. So here is my personal review on the Aprilia RS50.
@@lanmetrankil-keananlanmeab3790 he was at the time it was recorded, funny thing with time, if you comment fours years later , the person will be four years older, fancy that eh.? Thought you should know.
nice video mate you seem very sensible and respectful witch is a great quality to have and very rare at 16 years old ,,I'm gonna watch your vids with your 125 now :-)
Yes this video is from 5years ago, however I am turning 16 soon and looking for a 50cc sports bike and the aprilia rs50 had really caught my eye, I can 100% agree with you that the rs50 looks amazing, especially the new model, I've told my parents that the rs50 is the one that I would like, but I cant seem to find any for a reasonable price for a first bike
I have just recently been to see the RS4 50 finally haha :D They only had the 125's in stock but they're exactly the same pretty much. The bike looks so much larger in person compared to videos! Hopefully receiving it in a month or two ready for my CBT :)
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm looking at this bike and also a piaggio Typhoon 50 2s. There's just so much choice, hard to know what to go for. I want something to enjoy this summer. Safe riding.
The CBT includes a brief theory part, although it's not a 'test'. I'd recommend doing some of your own research for your own safety but technically - there is not a separate test required...
@@EvolutionMotovlogs Wait wait , so after I’ve applied for my provisional licence I can just do my cbt and then I can ride ? Because I thought that I needed to do a theory test too after completion of the cbt
Love the video mate. Looking into getting this exact bike, do you do the modifications yourself? If not is it expensive at a garage or motorbike workshop? Thanks a lot
Hey, I see you haven't had a reply yet so I'll help you out. A decent modern version will cost about £1000, and depending on insurance will cost between 400-600 depending on where you go (some bikes have alarms fitted, which reduces insurance price). As mentioned in the video running prices are cheap except oil changes. Hope this helps
+Harvey Connar What's going on Harvey, sorry for the late response. A 50cc geared motorbike whether it's supermoto or sportsbike will cost anywhere between £600 - £1200 dependent on age, condition and miles. For my first year insurance at the age of 16 it was £450 for the year (third party fire and theft). Other things to consider at MOT, Tax, Motorbike Gear/Protection and accessories.
Not sure, the RS50 has two different models depending on what year you purchase. The old shape was much like a 'bubble' and the dashboard was far less electronic.
Hey dude, subscribed:) I'm 16 and am 17 in October I start college in September it would take me about 20 miles to get there and 29 to get back, I have to get a 50cc as it lets me ride ASAP. Is this bike really worth it? It's the best thing I can find for a 50cc and it looks nice. Just any advice and do you do an ordinary cbt or because it's geared have to do more?
RDGRNYLW What's going on dude, welcome to the channel! If your going for a 50cc then the Aprilia RS50 would be a good choice for your travels - They can push 55mph. In order to ride you'd need to do a CBT either on a scooter or geared bike - up to you. Due to the amount of miles you'll be doing on such bike you'll need to keep on top of maintenance.
The rs50 and derbi have the same engine. Anything that isn't Chinese junk. TBH wait until your 17 and buy something worthwhile. Then keep that until you're 19 and do your test
hi all. I recently bought an Aprilia RS50 moped after sitting for 3 years. It drives great, started from the pushrod even without rebuilding the carburetor. but there is one problem, it won't start with the button. I found the location of the starter relay on the left side on the back side of the frame, apparently it is attached with a screw to the plastic battery niche. Has anyone found out how to remove it? without dismantling the entire moped?
If you are looking for a mode of transport using town roads and not big roads it'll be perfect. The RS4 is the newer model I believe, still a 50cc 2 stroke - just new fairings and what not. In regards to hills, if you are in the powerband it'll pull you up, no problem.
Is there any point in getting a 50cc bike when you can wait a year and get a 125cc? I'm 15 and thinking about getting a motorbike license instead of a car one.
We own ( my dad own's) a Ducati 899 Panigale, had a '99 ZX6R before that. I grew up with and on bikes, did some dirtbike racing. even rode a 250cc at closed track days at a circuit my uncle owns. I'm 15 and I'm a pretty capable rider, even if I say so meself. The point is that the government will make me pay €600 for an AM license and blablabla and will make me wait untill im 22 to ride my dreambike legally ( which is a 959 panigale ). So hounestley fuck the system
why 22? if you said AM license, I think youre in the EU, that means if you have the A2 license with 18 and you have that for two years, you can get the A with 20 and ride the 959. But I think this system is alright. Just because you are a good track rider, doesnt mean you do well in traffic.
Motorcycle Rider we just sold our ducati 899 because we needed the money, i got my driver license and can drive 50cc bikes, i was looking at some 50cc and wich one do you recommend
Arlüx Belgium and I dont know where you are from ( I guess Italy it's that way there) but here it is 16 for AM, 18 for A1, 20 A2 and then 22/24 for the A license.
Arlüx and Yea but I can handle a motorbike, stay sharp, and I know the traffic rules since I have studied them 3 times already to be sure I dont fail because of them
+NLMOVIE12 They are both similar motorbikes. Derbi use the same engine as aprilia I believe. I wouldn't be able to compare as I have never owned one though.
The Gilera DNA is a 'twist and go' whereas the RS50 has gears. Chose which motorbike will be more suitable for you. Personally I'd prefer to own a RS50 as it has gears. The choice is yours! :)
Awesome looking bike but i still love my tzr50. At least for a couple of months until i get the yzfr125. Realy looking forward to it. Do you have a stock exhaust or standard? I have a leovince x-fight.
+Joel Bingo Well, once you've got the bike it's pretty cheap from then onwards. My insurance was relatively cheap (£400), Tax is abour £20 and then if you don't own bike gear you'd need to add that on to the costs. It's still going to be hell of a lot cheaper than driving at 17 and you get out and about a whole year earlier!
I own the previous model of RS 50 (1999-2005) and I find it a great little bike. This model has a higher build quality which is noticeable in things such as the fairings. There are some considerations needed when thinking about buying a geared 50 though:By law a 50cc can only go 28mph so if you de restrict it to achieve speeds up to 60mph then you are breaking the law. Will you continue riding after a 50 if not then you might be better off with a twist and go, however if you are then definitely get a geared bike.
There are various restrictors and performance enhancements to consider. Air Intake restrictor, Upjet the Carburetor, Change the sprockets/gearing and replace exhaust system with a 'race' restricted pipe. Also, perhaps an ECU restrictor?
Two questions, I'm 6'3" (about 192cm?) and not exactly an acrobat, would I be able to fit on this thing (not necessarily comfortably), and on a car, it's best to jump start in 2nd gear, is this the case in motorbikes as well?
You're slightly taller than me, I would really recommend finding an Aprilia RS50 to sit on and see how you feel. Uh, I'm pretty sure 2nd is the way to go! But 1st worked fine for me.
Was this second hand or first hand as I’m nearly 16 and I’m wanting to get that bike in particular but I’m worried about price like insurance and how much brand new and second hand
hey mate, im 16 just about to pass my CBT and buy an RS50 from eBay, i don't think its restricted and was wondering if i need to get it modified to get it restricted. in this video is your bike restricted and to what speed?
+Tobias Burden Both my Aprilias had been de-restricted from purchase. Personally I think it's much safer to ride de-restricted and in fact I recorded a video in relation to restrictions at 16 yesterday. Video might not be out for a week or so though... If it's restricted it will only be capable of 30mph. If it's de-restricted it will be capable of 50-70mph. In terms of getting it restricted could be quite some hassle, not to sure. Depends on what modifications have been done? Carbs, Sprockets, Exhausts e.c.t
PLEASE HELP so i’m 5”8 and 200lbs, 16y old. I’m slightly overweight and i was worried since i saw ppl on this bike and the bike looked pretty small. Are there any other bigger types of bikes like these? Just to be sure, maybe it’s not thar bad after all, just wanna be sure.
I’m 16. Most of my family have bikes. Recently I’ve taken a fancy to bikes. But at 16 obviously you can only have a 50cc. I want something like this. More of a sports bike than a moped. How much on insurance in comparison is it to a standard moped. Thanks.
I'd certainly recommend a geared 50cc, you'll get to learn the riding style, cornering, ergonomics of the bike and such. My insurance was around £300 for my very first year but there are so many variables involved - it could be cheaper or more expensive for you. I'd recommend that you run a test quote.
Is it a good bike I also saw it on gumtree it is quite an expensive bike is it worth it and does it go fast another for a 16 as I'm 16 soon and looking for a good supermoto geard 50cc bike
I’m going to be 16 in 3 months is driving it hard? The first time you got on it was it hard and also what’s the chance of having a accident compared to a scooter
Slow speed handling is the most difficult and a little tricky. First and foremost, you've got to get use to balancing and turning/leaning a motorbike, that's pretty easy to pick up within minutes and hours. Once you're off, you'll need to learn clutch/gears. I managed to learn the basics all within a day, some people are faster learners and others take longer. I recommend to watch a few videos on how a motorcycle clutch/gears work before hand to get an understanding as to what's what and how it works. As for comparison, hard to say.
Im going 16 in 2 weeks and this is the bike i want to start on my auntie has a boyfriend that rides bike and he recommends that if u dont like mopeds and u want to start out on racing bike/sports bike this is the bike you want.... in my opinion the new design is very nice but i do like the older design better there is no difference in them just the design so thanks dude for doing the review cause now i know that this bike is the one i want to start with
acer 991 You've got it spot on there! Definitely a great bike to start on if your looking for a racey sports bike! I prefer the new shape but everyone has their own person preference..
Hi mate, first I want to say fantastic videos keep it up. Secondly that bike is a 50cc but you can go 50MPH. At 16 you're ment to have one that goes 30MPH so how did you get a faster one at 16?
+the lone wolf Thank you very much! In theory the law is that you can't exceed the speed of 30MPH. I personally feel that is ridiculous. If you de-restrict the 50cc it will be capable of speeds of 40-60mph. I would commute to work doing 40/50mph and never had any problems with it! :)
I'm looking at one of these for my son, when you said two strokes don't sound great🙄 I have no idea how old you are now I've just looked how old the video is, I can't remember if you stated your age or not, but as you're riding a 50 and a very cool one at that in this video, I would say you were 16-17 maybe you're not I don't know, you do not sound like your average 16-year old voice wise, but I hope by now you have ridden a real two-stroke the big boys toys version, if you have and you do not appreciate the sound get your hearing tested😆 thanks for the video though it's great to see that Aprilia are still making these little buzz bombs🤘
Hey Kevin! I was 16 at the time of recording, I moved up to a 125cc at 17. The RS50 was great fun, sportsbike feeling, an introduction to gears and the feeling of a power band. I later moved up to a Honda NSR125 (2 stroke). The sound of 2 strokes is a thing of beauty and I definitely feel it's something that grows on you. You learn to appreciate it as you better understand the world of biking. I was young and ignorant at the time! Good luck with the bike hunting, feel free to ask me any questions.
@@EvolutionMotovlogs that's great news two strokes rule👍💯 I may have a few questions at some point even though I have been riding on the road myself for 26 years I do not know all that much about Aprilia two strokes cheers bud, keep on smoking💨💨
@@EvolutionMotovlogs hey man Like I said earlier I do have some questions, it probably hasn't but does it have a power valve or anything like that? Is it just a smooth 2-stroke road bike? I only ask because I have been racing KTM 250 2-stroke Enduro bike's for over two decades now and they have a very snappy power delivery ( which is great fun🤣🤘) my son doesn't have any riding experience whatsoever so he will be learning everything on the Aprilia and obviously I do not want to waste any money and buy one for him if it's not great to learn on?
@@KevZX-10RC1H The RS50 has an obvious power band, but it's not overwhelming for a new rider. For me, the RS50 gave the me exposure and experience to being on the road, learning how to use a clutch and shifting through the gears. Lastly, it had that's sportsbike feeling and gave me that 'buzz'. Be mindful that they're only capable of 35 Mph restricted and 50 Mph or so derestricted. At 17 years old, the 125cc was more reliable and had a lot more oomph! Some prefer to wait until 17 years of age, others want to ride as soon as possible.
@@EvolutionMotovlogs sorry bud I didn't make myself clear I was talking about an adjustable power valve not the power band but it doesn't have one. He has decided he is going to have one of those bikes, he will not be waiting until he's 17 because he needs to get to work and have his own freedom of course
Moving up from the RS50 to the YZF-R125 was a worthy upgrade. Overall I much prefer the 4 strokes. Smooth power delivery and slightly higher top end than the 50cc. (70-80 Mph)
Fortunately my brother has a license and was able to ride it for me; motorcycle couriers are usually relatively cheap or hold fire until you've passed your CBT! :)
Is there a way you could get more of a lower pitched but loud rumble sound. Don't really know how to explain it. I personally do not like the lawn mower noise that comes out of it yet this is the kind of bike i'd love to own. Is there like an exhaust that could change it sound? Thanks in advance!
+Rodney Smith I asked the same question, I wasn't a huge fan of the rattly 2 stroke 50cc sound either. Some people love it, others don't. Long story shot, it's just how they sound. If you want deep, get a 4 stroke with an exhaust system.
EvolutionMotovlogs All right thank you for responding so quickly. As my response above i found a Derbi GPR 50cc for a reasonable price (around €1000). And i guess i'll just have to get used to the sound as i love how the bike looks. I first wanted to go with an Urban M5 50cc as i also like how it looks. But costs a lot more than the Derbi (New costs me: €1950).
Hi, I know that it is a Long time after this video. In Europe it is ligal to ride at 15 with a licence. Im turning 15 and I want a Yamaha tzr 50.How mutch did your gear Cost?Mi gear budget is 300 dollars.TNX:D
Look at 'textiles' for your first set of gear. It will be a cheap alternative to leathers. Spend as much as you can afford as the expensive gear offers better protection.
Hey man, I'm thinking of getting a moped/scooter as I am 16 now, This bike is very appealing to me and I've heard many good things about it on reviews etc. Only thing I'm unsure on is where to get things like the clothing and helmets from, any ideas?
+Jonathan Smith Getting Motorbike Gear/Clothing is the easy part! My top tip is to not purchase it online. Make sure you go in to a shop and try it before purchasing it. There should be plenty of bike gear shops dotted around you - I have about three local to me! :)
Hey bro i know im writig 5 years after u uploaded but would you reccomend this bike for me? i never rode this bike before but i've always liked speed. Does this bike need a lot of maintenance and how much does it consume?
anyone know where to get a hold of the rs 50 or rs 4 50? ive been on ebay, amazon, auto trader and also gmtree but i cant seem to find any working ones...help!
I much prefer the supermoto style bike like my Derbi Senda DRD 50, however I agree with your review from a 50 cc standpoint, perfect for town and also for minor bendy roads in the country as they are usually 40 mph limit anyway, and my bike handles amazingly around them, and because of the very low range in speed between each gear it gets you used to making quick decisions, and using the clutch/gears, and incredibly cheap to run/fuel/repair. Nice review and you do not sound 16 haha
My bike with a performance exhaust has around 10 bhp, with stock exhaust it is around 3 bhp, but both bikes can be as fast as each other as they use basically the same engine
Yep, I've owned three Aprilia RS50's. My cheapest purchase was around £600 and the most expensive was £1000. They're quite rare and hard to come by too.
+Mattia Di Biasi it actually come fitted with the motorbike, you can purchase them online though. Just search on google for 'Giannelli Exhaust System - Aprilia RS50'.
EvolutionMotovlogs It's a shame the microphone doesn't pick us the sound as well. I've got myself a 125 with a Yoshimura exhaust, it sounds so much deeper than my rs50 (picking it up this week)!
Most people ( The Young Guys ) give people that ride smaller capacity bikes a hard time ,, They really don't know what they are missing , some in Australia gain their licence on up to a 650cc and never had the thought of riding a smaller bike , I wish I had a stable of 50cc ,, 125cc, 150,, to 250cc and a mix of Honda , Yamaha and Aprillia , They are an absolute blast and the most fun you can ever have , a Yamaha YZ150 cc is so light and nimble and quick off the mark , You will never get bored buzzing around the suburbs on these bikes and they are cheap to run and insure , People shouldn't knock something they have never ridden or tried . : )
I definitely agree. Of course, the bigger bikes are always going to be better but I absolutely enjoyed the year blasting on my 50cc. Plus they are so light, agile, and fun to ride - not to mention cheaper running costs and maintenance etc!
Yep, the Aprilia RS50 is learner legal at the age of 16 on a CBT. The Compulsory Basic Training is a one day course and generally costs around £100. Restricted max speed approx 30ish Mph. De-restricted max speed approx 55 Mph.
