Always great to catch up on your latest developments Allan. Your ‘restored’ APT is looking, running and sounding great. It’s a stunning model which is always great to see running around Dragon Junction Mk2. Your Alpha meter demo was very informative. It’s made me think again about buying one for my wee layout as I can now better appreciate the benefits of having one. I’m not much of an ‘electrician’ so I’ll need to do some homework if I do get one 😂 Many thanks for your continued support of my channel. All the best Lord Al, keep laughing Sir.

Thank you so much Andy. The Alpha meter is simple 2 wires in 2 wires out. you just wire it from the power pack to the in on the meter and on the out side of the meter goes to the track. if that makes sense ..lol.. The track power goes through the meter .

Thank you for the demonstration of the amps while running trains. With the system you have got, you can tell straight away if you have a fault with a motor of an loco. Gary, from County Durham

Sorry for the late reply Al but your APT looks and sound stunning mate. If you can, try looking for the 5th coach that Rapido did, I purchased one for mine and it makes the APT look so much more purposeful. Some folk would say that it’s not true to life having the 5th coach but that’s not true, it did run on occasions with a 5th coach in tow, it was rarely used apparently but it was used occasionally. Great stuff mate and well done on the fix. 👏👏👏. Cheers. ……………Graham

Thank you for that Graham . Ill keep an eye open for one . You never know where and when .. And thank you so much for watching. I did watch your video on your heath issues and totally understand . i did not know what to say so all i can say is take as long as it takes Graham. The big thing is you have started your recovery all ready by talking to the Camera . As we both know it`s not easy talking to a camera at the best of times. any way very best of luck in what ever you think is best .and i hope to see you later in the year at GETS . Regards Lord Al.

Quite right, the ammeter built into the NCE powercab goes up and down like a wh**'s draws when I run anything, I liken it to sloshing water lol.

Thank you, Professor Lord Al, of the University of Hard Knocks for today's tutorial. APT E is a fine running loco. When you first saw the first film of yours about APT E. I thought it was about someone moving into an apartment unit "E". Bill and Janet from California

Ciao dear Allan, your trains is a jewel,thanks for the slow running and to having explained the various functions. What impressed me most about this model is the extreme attention to detail inside the passenger carriages with the turning on of the little red light.Atop model for our BOSS.Big like Allan,continue to have fun with your marvellous trains.Cheers,alberto 🚅🚅🚅🚅💎💎💎💎💎💎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

nice to get it running again, always foundnthe tiny front windows of these and The no cab side windows to make them and the HST to be a but funny looking, and the drivers mustn't see too much. Lol.

A very big thank you Al. Very well explained. I notice your Gaugemaster pushes out more than 17V. My Dynamis only pushes out high 14s, But all seems similar, 7 trains running at just under 1 amp. But i see how to check individual locos. 👍🏻👍🏻Thanks again Alan. Much appreciated. Stuart

No worries Stuart . Happy i could help. The volts are high because i use a DCC Concepts power pack 17 volts and 5 amps output . Peter Dixon uses the same set up on his small layout with no problems . It`s to smooth out out the power better to the layout. You can read up on it at DCC Concepts website Stuart. Regards Lord Al.

Excellent video showing and explaining the Alpha Meter perfectly Allan, even I learnt a bit about the back EMF showing up in the readings. Will look at mine now. I suspect in my case it will show when going round the tight curves as I don't have any slopes. Good Job Cheers Peter

Very informative and enjoyable, never know I might get an alpha meter at some point, not yet though. Had the message from Dan 'pl return your model', sent it off today. Hopefully, he will solve it this time, twice with the same issue. Could be as yours the slave unit motor needs replacing, who knows.

Hello Lord Alan,.. or should it be Professor Alan😅 or Engineer Alan after the successful work on your APT. Another great informative video, showing your proficient engineering skills on the repair of the APT. Must be the time reading in Lord Al’s Lav, giving you a great education. You made it easy to understand and details of current being used was brilliant. The APT is a brilliant model, and sounds fantastic, mine still in box … Not sure it will look right next to my TitField Thunderbolt 🤔 Do you find it needs extra track spacing on curves/walls/platforms with its overhang at the front of the Loco? Thanks again for taking the time for producing such a great video, to help us through any difficulties we have .. x The Bigfella x

Hiya Bigfella . hows you doing. and thank you for watching. Now the APT-E does need a little more space on curves and it wont like curved stations . it`s some think you need to plan for in the future build .And you will need a siding some where big enough to park it . they don`t like being taking apart once put together. it`s a superb train to play with on the layout once you have set it up. All sorts of sounds on it . Changing the motor was an easy fix to me much like a Backmann class 66 .and as you have seen it runs sweet . So thank you Bigfella for stopping by .. catch up with you soon . Regards Lord Al.

Think I should get one of those meters , it will be handy for identifying any rogue loco's . Do you connect the supply to the track through it ? ........Peter
@dragon-junction-MK2
@dragon-junction-MK2 3 месяца назад
Hi Peter .it connects in be tween the power pack and the track. ( 2 wires ) from the power pack in one side through the meter and out the other side to the track.. Hope you understand that ..lol.

Al, your alpha meter shows tenths and HUNDREDTHS of an Amp, not thousandths of an Amp. One milliamp is one thousandth of an Amp, which is off the display.
