As a manufacturing engineer, I'm so happy with the attention they've given to designing the Aptera for manufacturing and building out the assembly process as efficiently as possible. Love that they're allowing access to the BMS details as well - setting new standards for transparency and right to repair!

@@AstroStrongBox I don't know if they've released BMS specifications to the public yet. I was referring to the video, starting at 8:43 where he discusses the BMS and how owners will have access to all of the details for the cells and overall pack health.

Amazing progress for Aptera. Few things at first glance: 1) The font on the flat screen is trying too hard to be different. The car is already unique by itself. 2) The yoke looks like Felix the cat. It’s fine with me, but the flat button with the logo give it a look if a cat with one tooth. 3) The pedals are great but for some reason I would have loved them in aluminium cast. I know those three points are trivial in the grand scheme of this project. Little details easy to fix if needed and certainly not crucial for now. A fast production time is what is at stake. Great job aptera. Overall it looks stunning!

Great video! Loving what Aptera is doing. Hoping that the cupholders change though. Not a big fan of that net thing they have right now. Honestly, this might be my only complaint, which is minor. Curious if hail or going over a bumpy road might activate the hatch opening.

@@n.brucenelson5920 I really appreciated the "SC standard" campaign that Aptera did/ is doing. With a slight tweak, I think that SC & CCS should be recognized as co-standards.. Like how IDE & SCSI or how SATA & SAS & now NVMe(U2) are all computer storage disk bus standards... I prefer SC for pure engineering minimalist aspects, and can simultaneously understand how "the industry" is just not capable of such collaborative standards decision making... But I also remember the GM MagnaCharger (EV1 & s-10 used) and the AvCon standards (RAV4, Ranger, etc used) used in the '90s & '00s. So there can absolutely be more than one way to push electrons on wires...

I never associated the Mini with BMW. I actually had to do a Google search to find the name of the company that brought the Mini to the world. It was the British Motod Company (BMC), and I think i never heard that name before. I hope that the Aptera will become even more iconic than the Mini Cooper, and that Aptera will stand on its own feet for more than just a few decades. Undoubtedly the potential is there as a fast transition from ICE to EVs will require super efficient vehicles in order to use wisely the not yet plentiful available battery materials (same goes for energy recources).

As a traveling performer I need certain storage dimensions. The Gamma version definitely looked closer to what I need. From an engineering stand point I wonder how hard it would be to make a four seat version that could collapse the back seats. Thanks for sharing. It looks amazing!

@@MachE_VLOG I do flow art. LED flower sticks and fiber optic whips have been my focus and soon I plan to start performing with fire. I also do cosplay and the jellyfish costume is a bit bulky. After that the more room I get the better the tent I can use 😃.

One Aptera employee mentioned that the premium sound system is not yet fully designed by their pro audio engineer. We'll need to wait for the Delta prototype reveal in a few months to hear that. The good news is that they will make quite a few of them for show and tell events across the USA.

Awesome video with great background on their manufacturing system which with Sandy Munro's help should make a big difference on their 2023 launch window. I did notice something on the front wheel fairings/covers. With the wheels turned to lock the small tails look like they might drag on an uneven road surfaces (there might be a few of those on American roads). Suspect a small design element they may change for Delta. As a pre-order holder I also cannot wait for delivery.

I am considering one of these, but I live on a gravel road that gets pot holes sometimes. It is drivable for regular cars, but small cars that sit close to the ground have to go very slow. Any body know how the Aptera would do on gravel?

There's 7" ground clearance. Gravel roads should be ok. Dirt tracks might be a challenge with punctures until the 3rd track wears in.

It's not that low. I have a Honda Fit. It's only about 4" from the bottom of the front to the ground. It scrapes on steep inclines but not on a regular road. I had to add some extensions to my car ramps to avoid ruining the front plastic parts. Most modern sedans are low in front to keep air from going under the car. Aptera doesn't need that because the underside is smooth and streamlined. Gravel roads are torturous for the finish on the body though.

Bear in mind that the front wheel pants (that is what they call them!?) are hard mounted to the wheel hub and thus move up and down with the wheels on the suspension. Point being that you won’t encounter the circumstance where sudden compression of the suspension springs causes the wheel to rise up into the wheel well momentarily reducing you ground clearance as in a conventional car. Excepting compression of the tire itself, you will always have the 7” of clearance. The back wheel is the more familiar scenario so there… yeah. Worse case, they are offering an off-road package; at least eventually. Expect some sacrificed efficiency in exchange for more generous ground clearance and entry & exit angles.

Nice job, well done. If you ran over a 4 inch log would it get caught on the wheel cover? And if you pull up to close to a curb would it damage the wheel cover? Just trying to help.

No. The wheel cover would rise with the wheel, unlike the front air dam on many similar sized cars. Close won't damage a wheel cover, but scraping it could.

The front few inches are EVA foam so you can bump into stuff and it doesn't damage it. The offroad kit will hopefully be a lot higher for rough roads and stuff.

The manufacturing left some critical elements out. The first, being furnishing the stations with the inventory they need for what is done at the station. With only 12 minutes per station, the inventory needs to be at the station in sufficient quantities to support the line's rate of movement. The second thing not addressed is the performance of the Aptera Production Quality Assurance function. Supposedly done at each station within the 12 minutes. The third, what is done if some station fails to meet their target time goal or QA at the station stops the line, and the line stops or ?????

These are things they will need to work out. They're a few months away from a production model. The AGVs can move in any direction so the can pull one out if it needs more time.

Production will not start out at full speed in any case. Initial builds proceed very deliberately until everyone is familiar with the process at each station, and understands the issues they meet in each step.

There is not a single manufacturer who can do this, especially with Covid. Tesla has had about the same amount of time with Cybertruck, and yet we know far more about Aptera.

I think Vinfast, the Vietnamese EV manufacturer is the only EV company to deliver their vehicles from concept to actual delivery in 36 months. (2019 - 2022) This include building a gigantic manufacturing facility, establishing an early dealer network, and delivering their first vehicles locally (To Vietnamese customers) ahead of schedule. We won't talk about Tesla's delivery performance........ I work as a consulting engineer for a US legacy manufacturer who is converting to EV products. Their accelerated product cycle is four years.
