@@Aputure-Tim_S_Kang Well, I wanted people to grasp that Aputure has built some very good lights over the past 3 years and that this was taking it in a new direction of quality while maintaining and then exceeding the previous level of quality. I literally changed my wording to include “slightly” before I hit enter. Maybe I think people read too much into what people type and thus, chose my words carefully, very carefully, with slightly more thought, slightly. Or, its my tiny revenge for Aputure making me misspell aperture over the past many years out of habit.

Weird, I didn't pick up on that it could do colors from the Aputure announcement video. I thought it was only (lol, only) 2500-10,000K with the green shift. Light just got much more interesting with that information! Can't wait to see the refresh of the rest of the lineup with this engine.

Yeah they didn’t show the range of colors, probably because they don’t want to make promise of a “full color “ light as this was designed to be a “fully tunable white light”. But that was a pleasant surprise that it can create a pretty decent color wash… imagine they have more in the works for this tech.

@@EpicLightMedia I'm most excited for the output and green shift! This really looks like the buy once, cry once solution for a key light, for me at least! It was only last year that I started really looking into building out my own lighting package. The X and B models of Aputure and Nanlite didn't really appeal to me after a bunch of research, so I went with a 600D Pro for my big key for now, knowing more was coming after the Prolycht purchase. Aputure has delivered!

According to Aputure's website, the 1200X is a little brighter than the 1200D. If true, that's wild to have a bi-color light with green magenta shift brighter than it's mono-color equivalent. Short of some nasty unexpected bugs, I will be getting this light. The 1200D is already such a great work horse.

How bout we white balance to that 1200d before we start saying the X is "cleaner"? what do you say?

So our Alexa white balance was set to 5600k, the 1200x was set to 5600k and the 1200d is supposed to be 5600k. We didn't alter the image at all in post. The 1200d clearly has a yellow color cast compared to the 1200x. So it was very clear while filming and in the footage that the 1200x is a "cleaner" white color light.

@@jamesepiclight sorry, James. Not a really good way to compare lights. “Daylight” is all over the place, changes continually based on time of year and time of day. So white balancing to 5600 is arbitrary, and in this case simply favors one light over the other. Either you white balance separately, or white balance to the light you can’t adjust, and then match the one you can adjust, to that. That tells us something. Right now you’ve made it an apples oranges comparison, but are implying something else.

@@barrygoyette Setting the camera WB to 5600k for lights that are rated for 5600k does actually show us how close to 5600k the light actually is. Maybe "cleaner" is the wrong word? But hopefully next time you can make a video to show the differences better. @@jamesepiclight certainly closeness to target WB is an important metric. But it’s not really the one Aputure is marketing as important which this light (that being a more expansive and complete spectrum at every temperature). Additionally this light’s killer app is its ability to match other lights to a more extreme degree than anything else on the market. Regardless showing two lights, one white balanced and one not, is produces a highly skewed result that disregards many of the qualities of both lights, and fails to confirm whether Aputures marketing means anything.. but falsely implies that it does. That’s all I’m saying. I liked your unboxing and waterworks segments just fine. Cheers.

Somebody recently told me that you can't just unplug it, you need to wait a good 10 minutes after powering off otherwise you could electrocute yourself. I never owned a light powerful enough for a ballast so, is it true? How does it work?
