Nice video. Just really don’t like when you mention there is a thing different with one cam but then just wait with mentioning it for later. I suggest mentioning it shortly and then later go into depth on it, or just not mention it at first until you want to go into depth on it.
Always impressed with how you do reviews. Detailed and in-depth. Decided with an E1 camera because I already have M1S, M2 and E1 hub. It only has the essential features without breaking the bank.
I’m a little torn between getting the E1 or the G3. If I went with E1 option and bought the separate aqara hub, would I get the security features in HomeKit?
yes, you'll need an aqara hub that supports security modes. the only aqara hubs that don't have security features in HomeKit are the e1 camera and e1 hub
The E1 is a fantastic camera and you can't beat that price, but the G3 is hard to beat with everything it can do. I've got several G2H around the house and they are still a good option too. Hard decision to make really!
Got one in hand, cheap indeed. But it doesn't come with 5V 2A USB charger, you will need to purchase one unless you have spare one around in your house. One thing though, unlike G3, it won't hide the camera in privacy mode, it will just turn around to somewhere that you set. In homekit, camera will be always on, so some part of your house will be visible to homekit at all time unless you physically power off the E1. The only thing I could do so far is adding a smart plug to it. So this is also an additional cost. But I suppose it's also a homekit problem.
Another thing is Human Detection frequency is 3 min by default. You need to purchase premium service to set it lower. Lowest setting is 15 sec. I don't know what exactly this setting does to be honest. 3 min seems working fine for my testing. But be aware of this hidden paid service before you buy this camera.
Yes, the g2h non pro is an older model and i think discontinued in place of the g2h pro. the g2h pro has security system, the non pro does not. Thanks for watching! 😊
Can I place these Aqara cameras on the balcony? It will be the same place as a ceiling light, rain and sunlight will not affect the camera however I am concerned about dust.
Hey Adam, thanks for your review! I’m having a newborn soon, just wondering if any of these can be used as a baby monitoring camera (ie.see how they are sleeping, crying, etc.)
Hey Danielli, thanks for your comment. I recently had a baby as well so I can definitely relate. the e1 supports crying sounds as a future update. for a baby monitor, my go to has been the eufy indoor pan and tilt. has crying detection, though is disabled if you're using it in apple home (as are all HomeKit cams are that support sound detection). Congrats on the upcoming newborn! 👶🎉
not if you're just adding the g2h pro to your aqara account and not transferring any devices over to the pro hub. it'll still work to stream video, etc
@@AdamsTechLife Tks for your sharing. But if I were to transfer the 16 child device to this as main hub, any chance you have a video to demonstrate on how to do that? Cheers
With eufy cameras, when you connect it to HomeKit, features are removed… E.g AI detection, motion zones and 2k reduced to 1080p in the eufy app and HomeKit app. Is this the same with the Aqara camera? I don’t use HomeKit secure video.
this is true, though there are "activity zones" in homekit. and aqara does lose some features--1080p picture quality and not 2k. you can control other aqara features from apple home app (pan/tilt/privacy/etc) by creating a scene for EVERY action.. so technically you get most of the features, just takes a bunch of steps to get there. Thanks for watching! 😊
I have Eufy indoor cams and the Aqara G2H. The Aqara has a more useful Homekit implementation. Other than 1080p instead of 2k in Homekit, the Aqara maintains pet, human and vehicle triggers in Apple Home.
Tell me mate why the hell are you ALWAYS losing your wallet do you mind explaining or have you a problem and how come these wallets are your favourites when you always end up losing them.
This video is making my life so much easier lol. Question! I don't want to use the aqara app, I rather just have HomeKit. Can I setup all the scenes I want from Aqara, push them to HomeKit and then delete aqara app? Would the scenes continue to work? Thanks!
i just uploaded my review of the new tapo cams. tapo has more/better features at the same price, so i like tapo better but just depends what features you're looking for exactly.
So what is the WIFI receive range of these camera's? In other words, how far can you take them away from your router before they start performing badly? Something no one seems to test for some reason.
there's a reason for this. there's loads of various factors including house type, materials, size, router, other devices on the network, internet speed, etc. there's no exact "one number" since every home is different but wifi 6 will give you the best range, able to cover a fairly large house.
