It's me again to entertain you in boring hours. :) When you say miles/hour do you mean land miles or knots? That 14mm flex sounds good, especially for an AM, but how does it feel on the water? In the video it looks really stiff, but didn't see you do the half-jumping test. I had an AM board before, I liked it as a beginner, but it flexed like a rubber band.
Stiffness has improved a lot in the last few years from this brand - their original boards used much slimmed drop stitch. This board isnt the stiffest, but its still good. GeoSUP measures the speed in Miles per hour (land). The app will also show you KPH as well if you wanted to look at more detail.
I’m 97kg and usually paddle a starboard 14x30 (hard) touring board which is plenty stable. I’m looking for a quicker ISUP for sometimes choppy after work large lake paddling....would I be too heavy for this? Aqua Marina are quoting 115kg or something like that. If so would the wider Airline work for me? Although it’s 2&1/2 times the price :0)
Saw another video review of AM Race board, and the rocker line of the nose seemed definitely not as pronounced as in this video. Makes me wonder whether the board reviewed in this video was slightly defected. There might be some variation in the manufacturing process. However, the rocker seemed more pronounced when there was more pressure in the middle of the board caused by paddler accelerating the board.
Hey Leeko. Thanks for your comment. Yes this could be the case. Even with this rocker line this board was still a fast board to paddle and good value to get you into racing. Thanks again for the comment . Reuben / SUPboarder
Since the rocker line is so much on this board.. Could you step forward a little bit more and have more weight on the front to flatten it out? Seems like the perfect bigget down winder? Could still tour on this adding rings to the rear for tie down?
Many thanks for this review. Can you please mention the most significant differences with the 12.6 size? I am trying to decide between the two, i have spent the whole summer on an all around 11.6×32 isup and it is time to upgrade. Thanks in advance!
The main difference will be the overall speed and glide. The 14' will give you more of that even though it's an inch wider. The other thing to think about is the conditions you are going to be paddling in. The 14' will work better on flatter waters. The 12'6 will be good on flat water too but also handle the bumps and choppy waters better because it being shorter. Does this help. Thanks Reuben
@@SUPboardermag thank you, this information is very helpful. I did not have in mind the difference in ability to paddle on rougher conditions. I will keep this in mind for my decision. Best wishes from Greece!
I just got the 2021 14’ and it seems to be pretty difficult to do step back pivot turn with it given the length. Are there stability advantage of the 14 vs 12.6 with the longer length or it only helps to glide better/faster?
Hey Jason, The 2 boards will feel very similar regarding stability. Like you say it really just about the glide and speed. But you will find that doing a step back turn on the 12'6 maybe a little easier because you will have less board out in the air as you turn and you haven't got as far to walk. Thanks Reuben
I bought one, but the aqua marina pump pumped it up to 14psi before the pump hose/ pump connection started to whistle out a lot of air leaking. I couldn't get it higher than that. Is it the pump? Any advice to fix? or maybe return it all for a new one?
That sounds like the pump. Check where you screw on the hose to see if its on properly. If it comes out somewhere else , contact AQ and ask for a new pump.
Hey Greg, thats one video we haven't used. But I having a look on line at the shape. It does look ok, with it rocker line and deck setup too. I cant comment on materials but overall it should paddle ok and offer a bit more stability at 28" wide. Hope that helps a bit?? Thanks Reuben PS paddle looks pretty bad though!
@@SUPboardermag I think the matireal is OK as you say padle is not so good. Continue what you do, in greece we all listen what you say about all the boards. Thanks Greg
@@SUPboardermag I try on r2 yesterday it was very stable and enough fast its very very good material and very good us fin box and fin. I think it is good for touring. Greg.
Yeah it seams like a good value Carbon paddle. Blade shape isn't amazing but it's very comparable to other paddles on the market. But AQ have a better blade shape for 2021!
You can downwind with this board. But boards with a little more stiffness are better. Best downwind iSUPs on the market I would say would be the Starboard All Star iSUP. But they cost alot more. Thanks Reuben
@@SUPboardermag thanks for the help mate. Just bought my ever first sup board and I'm looking forward to start boarding downwind. Greetings from Greece. Alexandros
