I’m a huge fan as well. Thanks to Eli and team they confirmed I had Uronema AND post treatment it was taken care of. Before AquaBiomics I’d have no clue.

@@ReefMan amazing for fish QT. Can tell you what to and what you don’t need to treat for and if your fish are all clear. Can also confirm if a fallow has been a success.

I still really think after your heavy metal issue adding things back would be key. The micorbiome is not very well understood or documented, but I think it is immensely important. I had a tank go through a similar issue and (after doing large water changes and using media to remove the heavy metals) I added rock from another system, bacteria from Dr. Tim's and pods from Reef Nutrition. That tank sprung recovered very quickly even though it seemed we were going to have a total loss. If heavy metals kill off things I look at it as a hard reset for the tank like a brand new aquarium. A brand new tank without much life added to the tank is likely to be unstable.

It would have been very interesting to see a Microbiome test on your tank before the heavy metal event and right after to compare to how things are now. A great reason for anyone on the fence about doing one of these test to get motivated to do so. If things are good know where you are at so perhaps one day you can get back there.

We sent off for both test on our main aquaculture system a few weeks ago. Can't wait to look at the results.

I agree! A before and after would be very interesting as Copper is quite toxic to all sorts of things beyond coral. I’m slowly adding frags back, but also battling phosphates a bit (added my GFO reactor back).

I’m still dealing with a low level bacterial infection in my tank, mainly affecting my lps corals. About a month ago I tried a treatment of chemi-clean just to see if it would knock it back a bit, and though it did help temporarily, I’m now just getting over Dino’s that popped up after the treatment. At the beginning I thought about dosing Dr. Tim’s to repopulate the beneficial bacteria back in, but I also wanted to learn from the whole experience, so I left the tank untouched. I plan on picking one of these Aquabiomics test up soon, in hopes that I can see what is causing my issue. Thanks ReefMan, great video.

Thank you! I think maybe the content is a bit too sciency for a lot of folks, but I enjoy it!

Agree! I only just stumbled upon this channel today while searching for info on microbiome even though I've been a huge consumer of reef related content on RU-vid for years. Highly underrated channel!

Are there any probiotics or additives etc proven to aid in the diversity of the "good" bacterias? I've only just started looking into this subject but videos on RU-vid such as "April PNWMAS Meeting - Eli from AquaBiomics" seems to suggest there isn't really anything currently available (although this is a talk given by someone selling their own products so to be taken with a pinch of salt). I'm currently searching for such a product as I am starting up a small coral farm that will only be stocked with fully QT'd frags & sterile media seeded with bottled bacteria etc so I'm guessing being able to achieve & then maintain a healthy diversity of the "good" bacterias is probably impossible without adding them manually on a regular basis.

Unfortunately I’ve not found anything yet. A team from Brazil & Saudi Arabia might be offering something commercially eventually, but nothing yet. You could look up research by Raquel Peixoto, she does a lot of probiotics research and likely would at least mention species known to be good. Then you have to find that bacteria though..

@@ReefMan Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's very helpful. It seems as though there are a few companies looking into this now so fingers crossed there may be something available commercially in the not to distant future. 🤞
