New videos about coral and saltwater fish every week! Science is everywhere around us, including in our reef tanks. The research done around the world can inform how we care for and keep our coral in our aquariums - so subscribe and enjoy the content.

With over a decade of saltwater aquarium and coral keeping experience, I post around one new video on coral, fish, or equipment each week. I dig into the science & history behind the coral and fish we keep in our tanks and explain the story behind the animals we interact with every day.

Does it really make much difference when we are lighting reef tanks in such a blue light ?
@ReefMan
@ReefMan 2 дня назад
It’s not so much the light, it’s the colors of things when you’re looking in through the glass. You want clear water, not greenish water (an extreme example).

Fascinating! How come my 2 skunk cleaner shrimp I owned never cleaned my fish? I have had them in a 36 gallon with small fish like clowns, damsels ect.

Can i have 2 clown fish and 1 hermit crab in a 16 gallon?
@ReefMan
@ReefMan 25 дней назад
I think you could make that work. Be cautious about water quality. Small tanks can change quickly.

That is so cool to know that the sea anemones also adjust to the clownfish, so cute! 🧡

Thanks for quality content. The major additions of new Euphyllia morphs comping in the last few years coincides with the uptick of illegal coral imports. I wonder if that all correlates? Buy captive whenever possible.

Hello and thank you for the method!! I have only one question... what would you advise us regarding what time would be preferable to make the change? Morning or evening? Thank you very much greetings Greece!
@ReefMan
@ReefMan 4 месяца назад
I’d do it 36 hours after you start. So if you start in the morning, just keep doing it in the morning.

I recently just read that Dino’s can contain palytoxin as well, is this true?
@ReefMan
@ReefMan 4 месяца назад
I think a couple species can contain it. Yes. But there are many many species of dynos that we get in our tank, so it’s far from a sure thing that the ones in any given tank will contain it.

I live at the beach and so oyster shells are readily available. I'll definitely give this a go being i just can't find the shapes I need, not to mention the cost. Thanks for sharing!

I've just found my angel has ick. I thought it was fin rot and treated with fin and tail but I'm pretty sure it is ick now. Can I put the angelfish in a 10 gallon I just emptied, was quarantined, and is cycled and remove the sponge filter? Then, move or do I need to empty both tanks? Should I have a sponge filter in the tank or just air supply?

You know you can't just say and here's a sound and as the sounds playing keep jammering on and blabbing on and talking over you got to give someone a chance to listen to it other than that it was a great video but you were too worried about talking then you were about letting the audience actually listen

Great video. I've been studying the use of AI to determine if we can use it to better our husbandry in reefkeeping. I made a video with a simple question posed to ChatGPT. The use you just outlined really seems interesting. I'm going to try to look into it. Again, great video and glad you are back.👍🏾

Around 2004, A gentleman by the name of Jeff Lebos ,Was selling a device online called the "Lunar Tracker",He had two models,one manual and one automatic It does a full lunar cycle in 29.53 days..He used information that he got from the government and academic sources and made them for aquatic and herbology hobbyist interested in reproducing an environmental lunar cycle to help possibly aid organisms in reproducing... He sold a few of them and then sold all of his research and invention to the government,Which they have been using on the International space station for years... I have one of the microprocessor controlled automatic lunar Tracker light systems and the LEDs used are not white or clear....
