Aqualad - All Powers & Fight Scenes (Young Justice S1- S3) 

Aqualad is one of my favourite character on the show alongside Kid Flash, Robin and Superboy

These homophobic (and also transphobic) assholes don’t care about that other stuff. They’re fueled by hatred, fear, lack of understanding or even misunderstanding, perhaps zealotry, and/or something that I’m forgetting. Note on cisgender, if you don’t know its meaning: it’s the default; your gender identity matches your birth sex. Example: Mike Pence is straight, white, male, cisgender, homophobic, transphobic, “Conservative Christian”, and - I would say above all - an asshole. Note on understanding: I would say that “understanding” is having a correct notion of something, “misunderstanding” is having an incorrect notion of something, while a “lack of understanding” would be not having a concrete/fully-formed notion of something.

@@pokemagetech I have so much respect for you and your willingness to write this comment I personally feel that although it is animated DC superhero show, Young Justice does a great job of respectfully representing a large range of different people whether it is race, sexuality etc.

It's weird, when a character is all about being gay/bi people complain about how it feels forced in...but Kaldur's sexuality was not focused on at all in Season 3 and was well handled...so idk why people are still complaining

@@blasianboy9636 Aqualad in the comics is not homosexual or heterosexual, he is bisexual and that is ok. He first appeared in 2010 in issue #4 of the Green Lantern event Brightest Day

Kaldur routinely does the best against Superboy, helped also by his Atlantean magic. Magic is one of Superman's bigger weaknesses.

aquaman is vastly more powerful giving his trident hes stronger faster vastly more durable and more trained than aqua lad in every sense

fr. going into this i would've never expected that a dc show, that wasn't in some way or another centered around batman and/or superman, would come out with such incredible characters and be able to make me love them so much

Before young justice they weren’t particularly consistent in characteristics and aqualad for example was very underwhelming and not fleshed out knowing about them before doesnt do much when you discovered them in one of if not the best iteration of them

Yeah,litterly in s3 only nightwing and tigress got good amount of screen time out of all of the original members!!

So true! That's why I didn't liked season 3 when I first watched it:too much focused on new members, nightwing got less than 3 fights and Aqualad didn't even really got one.. Hope season 4 will be more focus on the original team

Heroes who are LGBTQ: wonderwoman, deadpool, loki, batwoman, harley quinn etc. NO one cared when they were made LGBTQ now why is that..... its about how they did it, no one cares about him being gay but that aqualad comic was not the same aqualad we are seeing here, just like with Iceman they wrote in a totally different personality so they would fit the writers perception of what a gay person acts like. This is also ignoring that the entire comic exists more or less to make aqualad gay and harp on about prejudice against homosexuals, not to tell a cool/interesting story. If the comic in question is written such that you could remove aqualad's super powers and the story would be the exact same story then it stands to question why make it about aqualad.... Imagine a superman comic where his superpowers are virtually irrelevant to the story...Thats the problem. I dont care who aqualad wants to fuck, I just wanted him to be badass, I dont want hte focus of a story to be on their sexual identity the same way I dont want the focus of the story to be on addiction, world hunger etc. Take for example the depictions of Iron man and his alcoholism, the entire story is not focused on his drinking, instead they focus on how his drinking affects his ability to properly be a superhero. If they just treated aqualad being gay the way they treat other characters being straight no one would say a thing. Honeslty when people say that its about homophobia its silly when you have (all of this is also ignoring the fact that it was so so so poorly written and drawn that its clear we are dealing with amateur comic writer/artists)

I can't find anyone complaining about him being bi, just a bunch of people talking about how they like that he's bi.

They also made constantine gay? in the new justice league dark movie. I use? because he was in a relationship with king shark, now I dont know how that works but I am sure king shark is a dude. No one complained

TBF Aqualad in the comics is Garth who is white (and is also in this show) Kauldur isn't from the comics he was made specifically for this show.

I reckon Katara has slightly more skill, but Aqualad would 100% wreck in a fight. He's much stronger and tougher.

@@dessopopp if it was just water, I'd lean towards Katara for sure. But Aqualad can physically challenge Superboy. He just needs to get close enough to hit her and she'll be a goner. Not to mention his ability to channel electricity into water, which he could definitely use against Katara pretty effectively to disable her. Katara's best chance against him is freezing him since I don't think Aqualad has done much with ice, but I think he's still the more likely winner.

Aqalad would win first he knows Atlantans magic his water things can shape anything out of water and he can even manipulate electricity or at least use it and he and thunder she can make shock waves and she pretty much human but with powers he not so he can fo mor so he wins

Uhh you realize this version of aqualad was always black right? And he's been around since the 2000's I'm pretty sure he was also bi in tge source material. And no he's not only there for diversity points he's a cool character with depth and a really nice power set. Seriously who cares what race he is or what his sexuality is not every minority character is "for diversity points". Aqualad plays a huge role.

Garth was the only Aqualad at the time of the comics, and they made a new Aqualad that was black specifically for the show. Yes, he is a fabulous character and has tons of depth. But his creation was because they wanted diversity. But they did it well.

@Endless Twist So far. Kaldur wasn't gay until dc made him in the comics after they reintroduce him in the show. vergil, Icon, John steward, rocket, guardian, blue lightning any of the can get he kaldur treatment. they did it with harley and ivy, now with tim drake. no character is safe.

There are only 3 seasons, but outsiders was split in half during release so maybe you didn't watch the other half. Idk.

It did. Still liked the season but it's noticeable they were on a tighter budget.
