I've been making my own for a few years now, almost same design, just using materials from the hardware store (plastic plant saucer that I cut to insert a pool filter basket and pvc pipe). I also add fertilizer down the pipe. When I dismantle the pots at end of season, the plant roots stretch 26" right down the soil tube. Amazing to see how these roots search out nutrients.
I would love to see more videos on Mackinac Island. The garden tours on your channel are awesome, but what I would love even more is to hear you talk about how to design gardens. Your designs are so good. My favorite is the side yard of the house right next to the Grand Hotel. I've watched that video over and over.

May I suggest that you create pots with college colors when you sale your pots in college towns. For example in Columbus Ohio, be sure to use cardinal red pots and/or light gray pots or cardinal red & light gray pots. Companies have been trying to sell off-color red pots here & they don't sell. Look at the college colors. We also have Capital University here. I think their colors are gold and purple. I'm not sure, you will have to do that research. We also have Columbus State Community College - they have their colors. A lot of adults, gardners here, graduated from those schools. If you sell in college town you need to look at those College colors. I'm trying to help you with your sales. No other company seems to have grasped this concept. I love your product. The pots are full when the little overflow hole spits out a bit of water. We simply keep them topped up once a week when we dead-head, clean them up, and talk to them:) ~ In zone 5 you’ll want to store them out of the weather, but with an Aquapot, the soil becomes solid healthy deep roots so there will be no “soil” left to re-use. Pulling the “root cube” out is quite simple in the fall, with the pot on its side, and then up north we put them under a porch, in a shed or garage. ~ happy gardening!
Jack, is there some way to determine the amount of slow release fertilizer for each size of pot. Another way of asking this would be to tell us how much water each size pot holds. I have received my first shipment of sixteen blue pots and want to package the pot, the soil and the fertilizer for my clients.

The best way we have found is to simply top them up once per week. That advice works for all sizes and it is best to soak the pot in well and top up the tank... besides, visiting your plants for a little deadheading, checking in, and talking with them is always a good way to spend a sunday evening.... Some people use a dowel to check the level, but it is best to keep them topped up weekly, rather than wait until it is totally empty or even close... since that timing will vary depending on temps, wind, day length etc.
Any comparisons of plants in several planters after a season with aquapot and without to see the difference it actually gives? These were tested right? So that information should be available if they are better...
