Would this be good to use in my sons 10 gallon that has 5 guppies and a cory along with 2 java ferns, a banana plant and an amazon sword? The tank is a few months old and the java ferns don't seem to be doing well. The sword and banana are doing great.

I use it in my 10 gal. tanks, every since I started using it the growth (I have all the plants that are in your sons tank) and color of the plants is amazing! I can't say enough about this product! I used to use all of Seachem fertilizers and had no noticeable results.

I was thinking of ordering your Easy Fert package. my tank is only 5 gallons tho. if I am using a medium/high output light can I still use the normal easy green bottle? one pump per week? or a half pump twice a week?

Very amazing and helpful, I really enjoy long educational videos like this and going in depth about what each products do and what you need for your plants to thrive and grow correctly. There is always room to learn more and new things, thank you! I also put in my order to try out the easy green and easy iron products you have for sale on your website.

I would love a video about plants that thrive in brackish water! A video dedicated to plants that thrive in low ph and one for hard water would probably help a lot of people new to planted tanks. Aquatic plants are what got me into the hobby; just bought several more from your online store to play with during quarantine. Thanks for all the quality content! 🌮

Sir, I know this video is old and I am just watching it now for the first time but, as I said in a recent video you posted, I am watching every video and listening to every post you have, I have to tell you, I am the guy who loves fish but never touched plants before. Now watching your channel I am taking that plunge. You have no idea how much this particular video has helped me with my swords and Madagascar lace plants! I promise you this, if you get to read this comment, I'm not commenting fishing for a reply. I am commenting to let you know that as soon as I finish typing this, I am going to your website and ordering Easy Green. I would order Easy Iron as well, but i am not sure if i needed so i will communicate with you on any email through the website. I know, long rant, but I just had to thank you for all the info you shed here FREELY I might add.

I had this on and listened to it as I was driving home from out of town late list night. Much more fun that whatever is on the radio in the middle of nowhere at 1am! I haven't noticed this as much with other videos and maybe it was the acoustics of the car, but Lamont was pretty hard to hear. Cory, you came through really clearly but I kept having to crank it up when Lamont was speaking, and back down to minimize static when he was done. Maybe move the mic closer to him on future shoots? Oh, I'd still love to see a video on keeping fish as ethically as possible :)

Thank you for the video. Everyone talks about what they dose, but not how much and how large there tank is. OBVIOUSLY it will change per tank but it at least gives me a line in the sand. Oh, and that you guys are dosing WAY more than what the bottle says. I "overdose" based on what the bottle was saying and I was all worried I was doing something else wrong, hence why the plants were liking it. But if you guys are doing it too, I can't be crazy! Thanks again. I'm thinking about ordering your ferts once I run out :)

I haven't been in the hobby for very long, maybe one month or so. But my first plant came from a petco tube and my second one came from a seed I planted myself. The tubed plant is still alive and almost hasn't grown at all. The seed sprouted in one week doubled in size every day and is now a massive underwater tree that continues to grow every day. For my first impressions I say seeds are the best way to get plants because they literally birth and evolve to your aquarium keeping style and there is no need for acclimation or the need to keep dosing as it knows how to survive off your water. Just my beginner first impressions though.

Awesome informative video. Using easy green but have to be careful because my tap water already has between 5 and 10 ppm nitrates in it. But it definitely helped my anubias the first 2 weeks that I used it as they all started putting out new leaves. Currently dosing small amounts daily instead of a larger dose all at once so the nitrates don't get out of wack. Thanks for your hard work,love the channel. Keep it up!!

I have been dosing Excel regularly for years, ....... well time to stop that junk. After watching this I will also start dosing more than my flourish comprehensive. My nitrates stay pretty low as well and I do 50% weekly water changes on my tanks. Been having trouble with plants other than anubia, so I am assuming I do not have enough nutrients. I also do not do co2. *Just ordered your fert, sad that there is no 500ml bottle. But next order will be the biggest bottle you got. Thanks for your videos and I hope I can one day get my easy plants to do well.

Hey Cory, I really enjoyed the in depth discussion here. It seems I have learned the hard way the importance of balance in the aquarium with regards to macros, micros, and light. I have been in this hobby over a year, and beside the fish the few fish that hadn't made the transition to my tank successfully haven't killed anything. That was until I decided to fertilize my tank with Flourish comprehension and Excel. One single dose of both destroyed my two formerly beautiful anubias. I completed a 50% water change the day prior, and run a single Aqueon tube that came with my bowfront tank. Despite following directions exactly (actually dosing slightly less), the damage wrought was pretty devastating. The anubias melted, incrementally starting with the leaves turning into veined skeletons, falling off, and rhizome turning to mush in the course of about a week. I am thinking that perhaps the fertilizers exacerbated some micro deficiency. I'm not but am willing to retry if I can figure out what happened. One last thing, before all this my anubias grew a leaf every 3 weeks, also Java fern grew super slow. After killing the anubias tho, Java ferns exploded to twice their size. Any ideas what happened here?
@AquariumCoop
@AquariumCoop 8 лет назад
+John Martinez It's hard to say what happened. As everyone's water is different. But I will say that generally those two ferts do fine with anubias. Likely your java fern took off because it wasn't sharing the nitrogen with the anubias anymore and it was limited by the nitrogen. I'd say to try in another aquarium without fish or very low doses until you feel comfortable to do it in your main tank again as I do feel fertilizer will help your plants a ton.

Would you be able to explain how N vs NO3 is utilized by aquarium plants and if one is more important than the other? I see only N listed in your Easy Green product but a lot of the forum discussions focuses on applying and maintaining a ppm concentration for NO3. I guess the same question applies to P vs PO4. Thank you for all your videos and am thoroughly impressed with how you treat your livestock and your business ethics.
@AquariumCoop
@AquariumCoop 7 лет назад
+Rod S they are utilized the same way as far as I understand it. The difference between the chemicals are how they are measures. It all depends on what form you are supplying. For instance you can also use urea, but that is only safe in low pH tanks for example. I am in by no means an expert in this area.

Hi guys, I appreciate all the useful information you're putting out. I have a question, does the aquatic fertilizer business use the same standard for numbering their ferts as the terrestrial biz does? I mean, if I buy 10-10-10 lawn fert I know what I'm getting. Are aquarium ferts labelled this way and if not, why not? It seems that would be good information for the consumer and would take some of the mystery out of the process. Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Buying premixed ferts is an expensive way to buy water imho.

i got a small patch of java moss with some neo's and add local spring water and fresh water from streams and the java moss turned into java mass.... also its in a bare bottom tank and no dosing... no water changes, nothing in the way of maintenance... just a good size sponge filter, air stone and add water ass evaporated. clear water.... just started dosing a very small amount though added a nice light and it pearls about 15 min after i add seachem flourish excel... however i have a 55 gallon i have with a cured bed of gravel from walmart (black and neon) i added a bed of eco-complete over that i recently tried to plant... I added micro sword trying to make a carpet with, planted some guppy grass on the sides that have started throwing runners, and a decent sized amazon sword.... it has litteraly done almost nothing but give me green water algae... tried to add some bacteria because it was clear and clean for 5 months with no water changes until i cleaned filter... i had cut up a polyester shirt and used it in place of bio floss pad until i got floss pads... i threw it out now i keep getting g.w.a. im going to add more plants to see if i can process some of this nutrients... any tips anyone?????

No mention of easy carbon or the easy root tabs. I waited this whole hour to find out if yours are different and how. Does easy carbon contain mutagenic agents?

Hey AquariumCo-Op ! I Love all your fish info. Canadian new fish hobbyists here! When do you think you will be getting easy green back on amazon for Canada? I super want to buy it but says it's unavailable for the moment? Or possibly may not be back? Is this true.

One thing I figured out after almost a year of using it is that easy green only added about 7-8ppm nitrates per 3 pumps on my 30 gallon, I would keep my nitrates under 15 and sometimes I would even skip dosing because I thought 15 was to high, now I’m doing 3 times a week my plants are growing and my nitrates stay under 20 it’s crazy,

My Dwarf Sagittaria hasn't done well at all. You mention Dwarf Sag as being one of the plants that doesn't get along well with Excel, this is the first time I've heard it on the list of "No Excel Plants." Was this a slip, or is that a potential cause of my issue? 10g, Stingray 20", eco complete, osmocote+ tabs, DIY Ferts "EI low light method" My crypts, Annubias, and Moneywort are all growing well.

Hi from the uk... I'm a great fan of your channel and have watched all your videos. I am also in the process of building a fish room, not on the same scale as yours it will only have 10 tanks run off a large single sump . I also keep 2 yellow bellied turtles and I was just wondering if next time you are doing a fish room tour you could tell us a bit of info about your turtles, I also have a question ... would I be able to have my turtle tank set up incorporated into my single sump set up, just so I can keep running costs down as I have noticed ppl have there turtles in the same tank as there fish,, keep up the good work ,, thanks
@AquariumCoop
@AquariumCoop 8 лет назад
+MrTOT022 You can incorporate your turtle setup, but realize the load of the turtles will be shared with the fish, so keeping up on water changes on the system would be important.

I was listening to this episode (again) on Stitcher. While Lamont was talking about the amounts he dosed your 40 gallon plant stock tanks, I was wondering are those on your store's auto water change system? If so, much higher dosing might be required for your 40's vs. a typical planted 40 because you are diluting your fertilizer with frequent auto water changes. This wasn't brought up, but thought it was relevant.
@AquariumCoop
@AquariumCoop 7 лет назад
Well we auto dose easy green. We don't dose any extra to account for water changes, because with an auto doser, the nutrients are put in after the water changes. We have calibrated it to dispense as much as the plants can consume in one day. Also 2 out of the 6 planted tanks aren't on auto water change.

I wish I stumbled upon this channel way earlier but I've only been doing aquarium stuff for a little over a year now. I'm looking to buy some Easy Green and Easy Root tabs, but I was curious as to how much iron is in the tabs. API has root tabs that have 5% iron but I'm kinda like "ehhhh" when it comes to API and Aqueon.

i did many planted tanks alot failed some made it a couple florished and i still have today...i started using the liquid ferts from lfs like nutrafin then i upgraded to the dry ferts and did the pps pro method and then just sttarted dumping ferts in along with the dangerous glutaralhyde i didnt know it was that crazy i know it can cause lung damage if you breath it in but damn idk if im going to mess with again haha....almost all of my tanks have low light plants like anachris , hornwart , and java moss i dont use ferts in any tanks now i just let them do what ever

I have trouble with fertilizer distribution. No matter how much fertilizer I dump in my 14 gal low light fish tank, my nitrate levels always test 0. My Anubias (that are said to be very slow growing) grow 1-2 fully formed leaves from nothing in like five days, while my two sickly patches of Monte Carlos and Dwarf Hairgrass refuse to spread. It looks as if mostly everything that isn't used by the turbocharged Anubias gets into producing algae. I have no idea by how much I should tone down fertilizer dosage to stop algae growth and excessive Anubias growth, without killing my Monte Carlo and Dwarf Hairgrass. I'm also not entirely certain that increasing the lighting would make those two finally grow, because higher light for them means also higher light for the Anubias, so I'm afraid with more lighting I would just intensify the current processes instead of giving the MC and Dwarf Hairgrass a chance to grow.

If I can add, George and Karla Booth, from in the early 90's, who started doing serious planted tanks, had a discussion in Aquarium Fish magazine on Ammonia vs Nitrates. Actually, and long as you water is mildly basic, i.e. roughly 7.0~7.4 pH, well let me walk this back, there is a balance of ammonia to ammonium ions in a natural water system, everyone thinks ammonia = bad, but in a planted tank, and one with a healthy , balanced ( good live bacteria and other microorganisms in the substrate), the Ammonium ions are preferential used over Nitrates, as it's easier for the Ammonium to be processed through the hair roots and leaf surfaces. It's also easier for the plant to access the ammonium as the water becomes more weakly acid. I.E. < pH of 7.0.
@AquariumCoop
@AquariumCoop 8 лет назад
Interesting, I was under the impression that Ammonium is only present when the pH is 6.4 or lower. Got some late night research to do tonight.

I'd love to be able to keep plants, but I feel it's way harder to keep than fish. Spending good amount of money on plants and having them die on me definitely left me thinking twice about keeping live plants again.

excellent info video. how often do you have to do water changes and how much water needs to be change after or while using your product?
@AquariumCoop
@AquariumCoop 8 лет назад
You would need to test your water to know. Some tanks might need only once a month water change, some might need once a week. Nitrates would probably be the determining factor in most planted tanks, don't let them get too high.
