Saw this on my main feed without searching anything about the topic! Seems you might be favored by the algorithm :) Super interesting and professional video, good luck!

Hey Logan. I’m Stéphane from Montréal and my magic tool that you didn’t mention is the Mister Clean magic sponge. It’s great for cleaning the aquarium glass. I use the razor blades from Amazon like you and pass the sponge after to make sure I get everything. Trust me it’s worth it. Keep me posted if you ever tried it and keep up the good work.

Hey Stéphane! Ah yes, I've heard about using a magic eraser on the glass. Great tip. I'll need to try it sometime soon!

I hear that ADA products can last generations, if i had the cash i would love to get my name engraved on it. Just for the nostalgia and the sentimentality behind Takashi amano, ADA and the history of the nature aquarium

But alas, the pinsets cost 4 months wage in a third world country like mine😞

They're definitely quite pricy, but for my favorite hobby, I don't mind spending the extra dollars on gear here and there. That said, there are so many affordable options on the market that get the job done as well.

I always put off buying ADA pinsets because of the cost, until I tried a set in a store, bought them there and then. Totally different to every other set I have used.

bro, fun topic. My number one maintenance tool is my glass scraper. Same thing as you, bought off of amazon and a single blade can last forever essentially. About once every couple of days i'll scrape the viewing glass and wipe down the exterior glass (I have two kids that love to feed the fish and find ways to smudge the glass 😀) and it just gets to the point where i just love it. I think im going to try adding the syringes and Hydrogen Peroxide to my arsenal, and those spring squeeze scissors seem pretty awesome. I solved my cyanobacteria problem and my plants have REALLY enjoyed not having to deal with the cyanobacteria and i'm seeing sustained growth. I'm 3 months into my UNS 60U experience, and i'm loving it. Thanks for the vids!

high quality video! I was really shocked to see the view count, you deserve way more! Question about the hydrogen peroxide: does it effect fish negatively at all? even sensitive ones? I've never heard of that before so I'd love to implement it but I'd need to learn more. Loved this video!

Thanks Froggirl! As long as you don't significantly overdose there's no negative effect on fish. I've got an entire video breaking down the science of how H2O2 works on the channel if you want to know the details, but if you're spot dosing, it binds to algae and then simply disassociates into water and oxygen.

Nice setup! I’m not that precise with my fertilizer measurements and I’m not currently having any algae problems, but I’ve been there. I think I’ll use your peroxide cup tip though. I do use a toothbrush to clean the corners in the aquarium. Someday I’ll have an ADA tweezer set. Someday…

You definitely don’t have to be as precise as me. I just find a syringe to be a super easy way to dose so might as well be consistent. You’ll love the tweezers when you get your hands on them 😊

Hey Logan. I was just thinking. Something that I struggle with is the idea of knowing when to trim the plants to promote the best type of growth? I've been real hesitant to trim certain plants because I'm afraid i'll shock the plant too much and end up with just stems. Trimming stem plants... crypts... moss... when and what is the best way of taking that dive to get really nice examples of the plant species we have.

The only time I would be careful about trimming is the first few weeks of the tank's life when plants are still rooting and adapting. After that, you can pretty much trim weekly if you like. Many plants will really benefit from regular trimmings. Your slower growers you can trim less so they're not always bare, but never be afraid to trim. Trim a lot so you can get used to how plants grow.

Is there a difference between a steel, copper, or brass brush use? Do any of the bristles come off?
@LoganRandoAquascaping
@LoganRandoAquascaping Год назад
I do find that all of those brushes lose their bristles with heavy use. I just discovered the Aquar Worx Algae brush, and this is the first tool I've used that doesn't shed bristles. I highly recommend it.

Hi Logan! Do you keep the brushes sitting in hydrogen peroxide only during maintenance? Or do you keep the brushes sitting in it 24/7?
@LoganRandoAquascaping
@LoganRandoAquascaping 2 года назад
Hey Jason, yeah I keep the brushes in the peroxide at all times. Just replace the solution once in a while
