Recently I swapped my Canon 24mm pancake for the Canon 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS. While the 24mm was ok I prefer the 10-18mm for landscape/diorama aquascapes for more depth and wide appearance. You need to fix the distortion in post production software but this is very easy to do.

amazing thanks.....great insight into getting the best shot..... this would be almost impossible for 2000mm aquarium now in my smallish room.

Glad I could help. Ultra wide lens would be really helpful with big tank in small room.

Very helpful. Thanks. What would be a good lens specification for a full frame camera like canon 5d mark ii?

Thank you. Could you explane more about adjusment of flashes and transmiter?
@NigelAquascaping
@NigelAquascaping 6 лет назад
You can use serval transmitters to make the flash go off but I prefer the yongnuo yn 560 TX II. With this you can control the flash power output on the controller on the camera. It is hard to say what power output you need to have on the flash. This is for every tank and height different. It's trial and error. Just try different settings and look on your camera screen. Make sure it's not to dark and not to bright.

I use Nikon D3400, so should I use Nikon 24mm pancake lens? or you recommend another lens
@NigelAquascaping
@NigelAquascaping 4 года назад
It really depends what aquascaping style you want to photograph. Diorama or classic na benefit from different focal lengths. Which style do you want to shoot mainly?

@@NigelAquascaping Actually, I'm a master student from Indonesia, and I'm working with freshwater shrimp especially rice shrimp genus Caridina for my research. I usually take life picture only using pretty small tank, but it might be difficult to make a great photo using kit lens 18-55 mm

@@dikydwiyanto6904 For shrimps look into a macro lens. Good luck with your research!
