This video is about My absolute favorite intake sponge, its effective at prefiltering, and its cost effective as well! these pre filters are only 4$ at my local Petsmart which is likely the only place that sells them. so 1$ each and they are way way better than the cheap ebay intake sponges that go bad and clog after a few months use these wont last forever but will last much longer and perform much better than the cheap ebay intake sponges. here is a link to the exact item i am talking about, www.petsmart.c... ,

huge fan of sponges. all my tanks have intake sponges as well as sponges in the HOB.

I have one of those litte top fin filters running in my 90G brought in as a seed transfer . Kind of just left it running. I've been using a sponge filter with the tube removed on the intake of my Eheim canister, but its too big. Never thought to just bring the sponge over from the top fin! My only complaint would be the new ones are fugly blue. Good thing you basically never need to replace them!

I use those same filters from Top Fin. Cheap and works well. On a small HOB it doesn't fit snuggly so I stuff some extra filter fiber into the hole.

Filet-O-Fish and Sprite I use the larger sponge for my AC110 which I believe has the same size of intake. To make up for the size difference I slipped a 1/4 inch piece of vinyl hose over the intake as a ring which makes the filter stay on snug. The larger filter takes allot longer to clog up.

A other reason why intake sponges are good is because if you have bettas or any other fish with long or fragile fins they can ruin their fins and most likely kill them.

Crystal cat litter works better then rice so dose regular cat litter if you can't find the crystal kind!

Yes, I just put these Pre-filter Sponges on my Fluval 107 Canister Filter and it works perfectly. Actually, I used the TopFin 2 pack, TopFin Filter Sponges MF-S (Perfect)!

I personally wouldn’t put that ugly thing inside my tank. Why that color blue? I spend a few extra dollars and get one that’s black and doesn’t serve as a distraction from all of my fish and plants.

sounds like he smoked a good doobie toke toke pass, and why would you want to throw a sponge filter away, why not dump the carbon rinse sponge and refill with new carbon. save more money and save some beneficial bacteria
