The trick to taking care of the red root floater floating plant is to use softer aquarium water. It’s usually means that you have to mix your tapwater with 50% of reverse osmosis water. This makes your water softer and gives the plant a better chance of living because it prefers that soft water.
One of the downfalls of keeping a floating plant like the red roof load or is that it steals all of the lighting from the other plants. So if you’re OK with it, stealing all the light and not having other plants in your aquarium, then this might be for you. I’m trying to talk my girlfriend into removing the plant from our aquarium so we can grow other plants now, but she loves the red root floater floating plant.
