Love this stuff. And no 'diy nopox' is not nopox. Methanol has specific uses by bacteria and fungus in the ocean. Read about it, learn to think for yourself and don't let forum "experts" do it. Especially people who don't work in marine sciences.
Just a constructive critic. By no means I want to bash the interviewer but he needs to let the person you are interviewing to finish talking and not interrupt.
Honestly, I think jake did a good job bringing the guy back to earth in a way that viewers can relate to this complicated topic. Dude is talking like a scientist in a hobbyist setting.
i agree chad, Jake did a great job interviewing as well as responding with a language that we can all understand. if you listen closely...he repeats sharon's response in terminology we can relate to. if it weren't for him reiterating his response and confirming sharons answers to the questions, i would have been pulling the rest of my hair out trying to understand.
I think the interviewer did a great job reiterating. If the Red Sea guy was more pleasant to listen then I don't think the topic would have needed to be repeated to make each point clear. When he was talking it was very easy for me to zone out because he was so boring.
So, I am using this product and have finally got my nitrates down to 0. Now that they are down, do I have to continue dosing with this product or is it safe to safe that the nitrates are gone for a while? I do not over feed and my aquarium is not overstocked. It has an all-in-one filtration system that contains a skimmer as well as a filter sock. What do you think?
This 13 minutes I spent watching and listening carefully to this video has taught me a lot, thank you! I use nopox by the way and it's great and now I understand just how it works too! :-)
Not that I know of, the whole point is for the skimmer to capture the bacteria and take them out. However I imagine if you have LOTS of bacteria-feeding corals and sponges, you might see some benefit. But a protein skimmer is very important when using NoPox and ANY source of carbon dosing.
I've just started using this product a few days ago after problems with nitrates the question I have is does using a UV steriliser kill off the beneficial bacteria
Valentine the uv steralizer i whould not use in a reef system it will kill to much in time and if you have copapods its not good dose nopox. keep skimmer running
