Steve if I was you I'd get a better quality test kit to get a better reading, have u tried red sea test kits? Congratulations on the 7k subscribers and yes definitely buddy were a happy group on fb 👌
thanks dude. you know, i do have the red sea test kit and the readings come out the same. for this reason i use api most of the time since it's quicker.
Your correct, once a powder blue is quarrantined for 8 weeks, the only thing to worry about is high nitrates, as tangs are sensitive to high nitrates and will get Popeye on you quicker than crap.
what's up man? thanks. i know how to make them, just haven't. i'm going to remove this comment only because i don't want anything related to that guy on my channel. he said some pretty harsh things against my subscribers in the past.
As far as hurricane IRMA (I am in central FL, lost power for a week) I have a generator to run my 180, my 90 and my 28 biocube! If I didn't have these tanks I would have evacuated, that hurricane hit hard and bad... used so much gas keeping the generator going but it kept my tanks going. I could not see up and leaving everything behind...I really hate florida..
i probably would have done the same...depending on how bad the hurricane was. i'm so sorry that happened. i'm not a FL fan myself. i HATE the humidity and tourists. not a disney fan either...money grubbers. disney has a bad dark side....anyway, i hope you guys are well and the house is well. we love our animals and i give you tons of respect. i would never leave my dogs.
I didn't want to spend money on it and was trying other things. So far nopox is what is working great. It's either use this or sugar. Sugar works great...definitely using both....not at the same time though. nopox for now.
How much are you dosing? Each reef tank and each size and population of fish and feeding level would likely have different dosing amounts. Anyone talking about dosing no3-po4-x, vodka, sugar should state what they are dosing, how much, how frequently, size of the tank, population # of fish and how frequently fed (estimate how much if possible). Without this information it is hard to know what is happening for others to relate their systems to it.
you are absolutely correct, however, this was not a dosing video, this was a nitrate test video. the dosing video was last week and the instructions from red sea are pretty clear. when i dose sugar, i have stated, i dose 1 teaspoon for every 60 gallons of water.
I understand. But hard to figure the nitrate lowering response or effectiveness without that info. For instance I dose 3-3.5ml daily in a 30 gallon with heavy feeding twice daily, lots and lots of coral and about 10 small fish.
Remove the light diffuser?? Those corals should be spreading by now. Unless alk, Calc and Mag are not up to to par, check out kalkwasser, very simple as long as you test, and the Hannah checker is fairly inexpensive and a digital readout for Alk, highly recommend! Also my friend, I am a tang guy too, but that Naso and Fowelry, assuming you keep them long term, grow as big as the depth of your tank, they will not be able to turn around comfortably, I'm not the tang police, I just highly suggest a 2ft depth tank at least! Glad to ditched the orbit marine, I bought two of the 6ft pro models, garbage for coral, but nice for fish only or supplimental, not worth 1,600 dollars though, huge regret on my end. Take care.
I did not. Personally I did not see anything amazing with it. It's a lot of money. I would just make a deep sandbed in your sump since it's cheaper and will be a great bio filter.
not exactly sure on the gfo but it really shouldn't cause an issue. you shouldn't use carbon when dosing anything, as it will remove it from the water.
