AR-15 Twist Rates [Which is Best for You?] 

Lamar is SPOT ON, my 1:8 16in will cut holes pretty much at any distance with gr/tip. 👍👍

Just like the miss-naming of a magazine as a "clip," I'm under the impression that the twist rate correlated more to bullet length rather than bullet weight. Of course, in most cases a longer bullet weighs more, but bottom line, shoot your barrel and see what it likes.

Found you guys from a marine vet. Much respect to your company. Plan on doing my first build using your parts.

Informative. Though my 1:7 barrel twist was accurate even with 55 grains, it was dead-center target hitting with the heavier grains.

I had no idea that there was a such a thing as a threaded forward assist, that screws together... Until it backed out and came flying off of my bca upper this morning! Thanks guys! Smh.

I run 55gr. - 69gr. in my 1-9” without any issues. 69gr. Sierra open tip hp matchgrade projectiles group at < .7” @ 100m, damm near a cloverleaf.

I have your 20" 556 upper with a heavy barrel 1:7 twist. The most accurate rounds I have put through it are 40gr ballistic tip Fiocchi. And anything heavier than 55gr is not accurate through that upper. No complaints here, just an observation

I stopped worrying about twist years ago when I bought a couple of your fast twist 243 uppers. I didn’t buy one for years because in my opinion from reading on too many forums, the faster twist won’t lighter projectiles. Both my uppers will shoot way under half MOA with hand loads in both 55 and 60 green offerings push super fast. IMO if you handload, you can just about make any bullet work, no matter how light or heavy, and how fast or slow your twist is. If you’re stuck to buying factory ammunition, that’s a whole different game. You find out real quickly, and form an opinion, on one mass produced poorly loaded ammunition.

Have an 11.5" with 1:7 twist. I've been told 62gr and heavier is ideal, wasn't sure if that meant for shorter barrels like mine or not.

I run a 16" inch 5.56 1-8 twist carbine gas system, but I need to switch to a 16" 223 Wylde 1-8 twist with a mid length adjustable gas system with a left side charge RT eject. and I would like that to be a BCA, do you all have one ready for me?

1:10 ar 10 on spot with heavy rounds, light rounds are 6 inches to the right.

Or, you can try all different weights and see what your particular rifle likes. . . Common sense. . .

Since 55 gr and 62 gr are cheaper, by far, and in a much more abundant supply than heavier projectiles, why not sell most of your barrels and uppers to reflect this fact? Your customers are not buying large amounts of heavier bullets. Please make the switch.
