This video is a quick demonstration of what the AR-RPK is actually capable of. In short, we get out of the 40 yard pit and out to 250ish yards at the property.
made several similar builds with 20"s in the ARPK style config. Used a full length rail on both so we could do a bipod on the rail not barrel. It works really well. Impacts at up to 400 are not that difficult when you try, rapid engagement is like you have shown closer to 250 is more realistic. Great fun, eats ammo fast.
@@alyenendrovtsorokean7406when I built out my 20 inch I just did a google search, cant remember where exactly I got it but I found some 19 and 19.5 inch mlok rails, they been holding up awesome. Wernt too exspensive either, mabey around 100 bucks
After I saw your video on the ARPK I ordered the 24" barrel with out the bipod. I'm getting half to quarter inch groups at 100 yds. With my suppressor it's easy a half inch gun out to 400 yds. I built the upper with this barrel for taking out varmits at distance. Awesome barrel I just wish it came with a 1/7 twist.
That's awesome! Klein makes some really nice stuff. I'd imagine the 1/7 would be nice for pushing the distance with heavier bullets. But it sounds like yours is doing really well even with the lighter rounds.
I dont have the KM but i built my own AR-PK and i added a left side charging handle adapter. I did look at using a dedicated side charger upper but just wasn't impressed with most of whats currently on the market. I also initially tried doing a piston set up but my results didn't pass the reliability test. Thats all on me and my inadequate smithing skills.
Luckily Mr. Klein seems to have these uppers pretty well figured out. I'm not sure I would be worth a crap when it comes to tinkering problems out, let alone coming up with new systems.
Solid video. Looking forward to video in carrying through your AO as I similar terrain. I hedging it will suck ass humping that long beast through thick vegetation.
@Triple F Shooting Good note to mention this as a civilian support weapon. This has been what everyone has been looking into for years, and a RPK parallel in the AR platform seems to be finally realized
@@lancecorporalveteran0621 I've always been very interested in the RPK for its simplicity and part compatibility to a certain extent. This product really does bring those concepts to the AR platform with even more benefits. Hats off to Mr. Klein
For a trigger, I’m adding a Trigger tech diamond flat trigger. Cheaper than a binary, and only 2lb pull… allows very quick shots while also giving the gun a match grade trigger.
@@triplefshooting I have trigger tech diamond flat face in ALL my ARs… zero take up, zero OT, adj 2-4lb pull and $250 on Black Friday or other big holiday sales. Gives you a VERY fast, truly match trigger that is 50 state legal and that is off the ATF radar for 100 beans less money.
I have triggers from both binary companies and never had any issues with reliability. The Franklin is very gritty though. Anyone else have that problem?
This is an original m60 bipod that Small Team Supply mounts to the barrel. He machines it so that it can be attached, so customization later isn't much of a thing
With the extreme thickness of the barrel (I believe .94 or so) it doesn't seem to have any serious impact. I'm sure it creates some shift, but given the purpose of this upper it works really well.
The finned barrels are pretty interesting. At least they look like ot from the pics on their site. As expected, they are on the expensive side. Hopefully someday I can get my hands on one
To me this also is were the 5x prism optics work well ..makes for slick set up , to me my 20 inch heavy with prism is perfect ..not going to be a door kicking gun ever but has some solid uses in shtf or if you needed to set up a watch
@sleigh4019 I'd really like to get am elcan or something ridiculous, but can't imagine dropping 2K on an optic right now. I do need to look into something a little smaller/lighter to cut some weight though. The 1-6 is kinda beefy
I think it would be just fine. I like the adjustable one just to go between prone and upright a little more comfortably. The full length buffer system may run a bit better in the solid stock
Appreciate you linking that Brent video. The real use case for something like this would unfortunately be when the second amendment is being used for what it was created for (an actual SHTF scenario) where it wouldn't be difficult to add a giggle switch to this and turn it into a proper LMG.
Other than being a fun gun, your reason is pretty much the only reason to have it. Hopefully things get turned around before it becomes anything that bad. Unfortunately, things just seem to get worse anymore.
Idk if it’s the scope or what but god damn that thing is about 30% accurate… especially with. 20” barrel.. good god… lol would be a great supporting fire rifle.. I got a Romanian RPK… don’t really expect too much accuracy out of it.. more of a collection rifle. And conversation piece lol.
@@triplefshooting Hell yeah, that’s one I’m really looking forward to, been interested in civilian LSWs a lot recently. Btw you should take a look at the hoffman tactical super safety sold by twinbros for the AR-RPK.
The Klein machining carry handle is awesome. Unfortunately my optic choice made it difficult to balance it on the gun. I will eventually be going away from the 1-6 for something a little more compact
Why 24" barrel instead of a 20" barrel? 20" is likely easier to source for swaps, and reduces the weight a bit. The reason the RPK has a long barrel is because it needed to be able to suppress advancing enemy formations at 600-800m. That sort of accuracy, especially at volume, is easily achieved with 5.56 at 20".
The 24" is still pushing powder and gaining a bit of speed. That being said, Small Team Supply offers a 20" and even an 18" if you prefer. I mainly picked it because I like the look and leverage
I think doing a 24” barrel for 556 is not the move. 20” get you either all powder burn or most of it. Weight is important to me, also running a suppressor.
I was surprised to find that the 24" (according to ballistics by the inch, anyway) is still accelerating the 55 grn round. I agree that 20" is probably the more all around practical length. Klein Machining offers 18, 20, and 24 inch lengths to suit whichever you like though. The bipod starts to become hard to mount for the 18" though
24” squeezes out all velocity which makes the round capable of some pretty awesome stuff even at distance which makes a purposeful build like this make sense and have the capability to perform where others with shorter barrels would fail
@@guitar3212 I think the rpk pod is the more practical choice. The m60 looks cool but is quite a bit heavier and more clunky than the rpk would be. The adjustable legs are neat but probably not always necessary
I believe the main mitigating factor for recoil would be the fact that the rifle weighs 13.5ish pounds unloaded. 2 lbs of that is the bipod at the end of the barrel. The buffer in this gun is the standard weight that ships in the franklin armory complete lower. I haven't changed weights or springs or anything else
I’d try to put a bipod on the hand guard if it’s free floating, that bipod being directly mounted on the barrel is introducing barrel flex which could be throwing off your shots at distance
The main benefit of the bipod on barrel is that the gun stays down during a string of fire. The bipod on handguard setup usually means you lose some leverage over the recoil. I completely agree that for better accuracy a handguard mount is probably better, but the concept of this gun is more for suppressive fire in a more portable and maintainable rifle than what a belt fed would give. Luckily I will probably never need to use it in such a manner, but it's really fun to shoot anyway
@@ghostwriter1415 Saudi Arabia allegedly custom-ordered a small run of 7.62 by 39 AUG and they have been on display at military defense contractor shows. In fact if you Google it it should come up. Also MSAR that made the AUG clones made a very tiny number in 7.62 x39, 6.8 SPC, and 5.45*39.
