Got the same problem. Don't get hyped. Don't get hyped. Just saw the 3 dev diary's today and i'm getting hyped by the attitude of the team, their ideas etc. Doesn't mean the game will be good or bad but at least it has some hearth and vision.
For me, i like to play a pretty game. Like at some point just go around and admire at the empire I've built and ARA looks like a game that can do that for me, really excited
Looking forward to more of these Dev Diaries. I have always enjoyed the creative decisions that goes into making these games, and hearing the devs talk about it is insightful. That said, I hope Dorian Newcomb has a leather jacket and a black button down shirt because I'm getting some series Dr. Ian Malcolm vibes from him.
I'm so hyped for this game. Don't forget the little alternate history technologies you showed in your reveal trailer - I better be able to use Zeppelins and Steampunk Blimps.
@@doesntmatter6736 I made this comment half a week before Milennia was announced lmao. Still hyped af tho, considering Ara also showcased stuff like that in its reveal trailer.
@@galvendorondo these games are in early enough development that they could borrow the better parts from the other in order to compete. Atm ARA seems prettier and "living" with simultaneous turns and region tiles, while the alternate history eras are what defines Millennia. Either way the players are in for a treat because Civ VII also has to be in the works.
As I am watching these dev diaries and listening to all these awesome people working with passion, and seeing the graphics and the life there is; this game is really growing on me ! I'll be sure to keep watching these and make an educated purchase descision if the time comes. Please keep these videos coming, they are so informative and interesting !
These Dev Diary's are excellent - both informative and a quality presentation. For future episodes I would like to see discussion on the combat system and AI, both strategic and tactical. I think the Civ combat system is badly dated and hopefully the developers consider something like combat in Humankind that greatly speeds up the tactical battles and gives options to take advantage of terrain and more. Furthermore, the CIv games have barely functional AI - so where is Ara going to improve?
how much space is in-between players? thats something thats always kind of made me scratch my head was how close players were in 4x games like civ, have any of you thought the same? and how would or have you addressed the small feel of these worlds?
The nature looks amazing but the town or city layout looks like an American suburb. It honesty looks like suburban sprawl. It looks like eccentric neighborhood in Ohio with Roman theme. Can the city and village layout be made more organic and historic?
It'd be cool if we had the ability to set a Start and End Era for matches in the lobby screen. Being able to lock yourself into a zone to simulate playing a tribal builder, a medieval city builder, a "simcity 4" with combat, would be so really really good for the games replayability.
