Hey my man! Fun reactions to Lorna Shore. Those of us metal heads who wanted you to see this, it was NOT to make you uncomfortable. It was meant to show you what metal has become and can be. To many of us, this song is deep and beautiful and wanted to share it with you in hopes that you feel a way you didn't expect to. Love your comments on this. For me, for example, this kind of music allows for a way to better express an emotion I feel but cant quite as well as I might hope. Songs, like this one, connect with me to help amplify that emotion and at the end of the song allow for a healthy release of that emotion.

For the newbies, lyrics.... Dancing like Flames Captivate me Become my escape I can't look away You were my everything If the past is just dust Then the future could be our dream If all we have is now, this eternity Ignite my satisfaction, engulf me We're dancing like flames, flickering in the night We sway in time with the wind before melting away You're far from my reach but not far out of sight You know the way to my heart but you just play the strings again Flicker like shadows dancing beyond the flame Captivate, hypnotized by the fire in her eyes You took me by surprise And then you disappeared in the blink of an eye Pull me into the pyre Engulf me in flames Captivate me, eidolon, gravity Magnetic, pull me toward my ecstasy We're dancing like flames, flickering in the night We sway in time with the wind before melting away You're far from my reach but not far out of sight You know the way to my heart but you just play the strings again Flicker like shadows dancing beyond the flames Enchanting, mesmerized Take what is left of my life A wrinkle in time Where did you go? A wrinkle in time Take what is left of my life Before you go, show me what it's like to finally know The face behind the silhouette In this world I made to be infinite But within the expanse, I finally see A world without you isn't meant for me Where do you go when I close my eyes? What do you see looking back at me? Am I just a ghost just like you, caught between the Seams of two intertwining melodies?

I think you would like the "MetalCore" genre it's really heavy but they sing clean vocals with catchy choruses then it will go back into heavy. It's more dynamic like you said. That's my favorite genre of metal personally. GREAT REACTION! ❤ ❤ ❤

That sudden cut is why I will always recommend someone listen to Dancing Like Flames independent of the rest of the trilogy, as it and After All That I've Done, I'll Disappear (as well as that and Sea of Fire) flow into one-another. It's a funny little prank, for one, since people usually react as you did it, but it also really fits in with the song's loss theme. Sometimes you lose someone, and it's sharp and sudden and painful, and the ending kinda captures that in a bit. The lyric it cuts off ('Caught between the seams of two intertwining melodies') kind of also plays into that, mixing sudden loss with the tearing pain such loss can bring with the implied meaning of those melodies being torn apart. On an unrelated note, I would definitely suggest pulling up the lyrics or a lyric video and relistening to these songs if you want to understand the lyrics as they come. It's kind of like an accent; the words you know are there, you just need to associate them with new sounds.
@TheGroovyBanana
@TheGroovyBanana 11 месяцев назад
Absolutely agree. It is like an accent. It’s like when I first started working with some Burmese and some Haitians. Was a little hard to understand them at first, but the more I talked to them the easier it became. Same with deathcore. Used to understand nothing, but would look at the lyrics when listening because lyricism is very important to me. Now, I can listen to new deathcore songs and usually understand most if not all of it.

love the reactions man, leme break metal down quick for you (harsh vocals, extreme music etc), the music doesn't want to reach the average person, be main stream and be played on all radio stations, it wants you to discover...ask why...dig deeper, read lyrics and the musicianship, get an understanding of the message and then FALL IN LOVE! With metal, you must work to understand it sometimes, as there is sooooo much depth to it all, one cannot even begin fathom, its one of the few genres that isnt afraid to express VERY DEEP MESSAGES, if you look and read, hope it helps

Your sentiment of uneasiness during To The Hellfire is normal. That song was created to be as heavy, nasty, and unsettling as possible to show off Will's abilities. Their old vocalist had left, and Will took his spot, that song was basically a showcase his vocal insanity. Pain Remains is basically their "ballad". People who requested this just wanted you to enjoy the music, rather than be uncomfortable. They wanted to show you extreme metal can be beautiful.

Pain Remains was the 4th song ever to make me cry. I cried twice in the first part alone. I also cried to “What I Would Give” by Angelmaker and I believe the one before that was “Hopelessly Hopeful” by Asking Alexandria and the one before this was “Dream” by Imagine Dragons. I understand why I cried for both Lorna Shore and Angelmaker. Asking Alexandria and Imagine Dragons…. I’m not entirely sure. It was more about the presentation than the lyrics themselves. It was like they reminded me of some past feeling.

As the first song(s) I heard from Lorna Shore (and from this genre in general!), this trilogy is special to me. I love seeing new people react and see the beauty in it. I still get chills from all 3 parts every time. To answer your (possibly rhetorical) question about how you aren't uneasy, I was the same way, but I've found that this type of music is surprisingly quite relaxing once you settle in and listen.

I love the melodic metal scene. Its just such a ride and feel.. That is my favorite style of metal. And what I love with Lorna Shore, they have melody and emotions. Also shown in the trilogy. Also why I love Austere and their song like This dreadful emptiness they do it even more melodic where the screams are more an other instruments meant to create emotions along with the molodies. Metal is so much talent, and meaning. The lyrics are about things that matters. And the people playing are so talented. You can ask them to play any song and they can learn it in 5 minutes. Ask a pop artist to learn a metal song, it will take a long time. I also think the reason people who listen to metal are proven to be more calm. And be more open and do less crime and drugs at festivals and such. Is because metal is about pain, anger, love, feelings. They speak about it, its not taboo like some other places where being depressed or loving in some way as made fun of in the music. Here its part of the music, and there is room for it, so the fans can talk about it, so it do not build up, or feels wrong. So metal heads are just less angry. Also the reason you feel great this time is. The first time was a shock. This time you knew what it was about, so you can just take in the music and live it. It means you are on your way to become a metal head.. Concrats man.. Happy for you. And last. In regards to the drums going hard, and the harsh vocals and scream. Step out of the way we humans have agreed it should be, forget the box. And listen to it not as this is the drums, and that is the screams, this is the guitar. Metal music at its finest is emotions, and all the instruments including the screams are meant to make you feel that emotion. Its not really about singing. But tear into you, make you feel the lyrics and meaning of the song, not just hear it. When all the different parts become one, the music becomes something you feel. Nothing is more painful in music than a scream. One brilliant scream from one of these metal singers can say more than an entire song full of words. Its not just about what they are saying, but how its used. Its the purest form of emotions. We dont make a nice poem when we are in most pain, not if we are shot, or if we lose someone. Same when we are happy. Its a scream because it just comes from our soul. And that is what metal music gives. And that is why it can bring so much more feeling and emotion compared to most other genres. And I have songs I like in every genre of music ( Except Techno ) But metal is just so much talent. And its raw, and real. Its the real things we feel by living.
@brunningstave
@brunningstave 10 месяцев назад
It’s less brutal because of the subject matter, this is more meant to evoke emotion and help deal with loss. It’s a phenomenal and unique song for metal heads. We don’t usually get this level of emotion and certainly not with this kind of delivery. And the artistic ideas worked into the three parts is clever, first one is rain and sadness. The second is snow and feeling numb. The third is fire and rage. Lorna Shore continues to raise the bar for this genre.

If you want heavy/brutal you gotta listen to of the abyss, or sun//eater. And also you gotta listen to the studio version to get the full effect, you listened to to the hellfire live and although it’s brutal, the studio version actually has a hand that will come out of your screen and slap you. But seriously, studio is better just because they spent countless hours perfecting it to be that way, layering/cleaning the vocals, studio drums, crisp guitar. But as you seen, they rip it live just as well. Will Ramos even has one take videos that I’m sure you’ll watch soon as well. Take care, and enjoy the art!!

The lack of uneasiness is probably due to how different the two songs are. Pain Remains I is a lot more nuanced and is trying to tell part one of a three part story. The whole package of vocals, instrumentals, and video ebbs and flows and never really tries to physically destroy you. Into the Hellfire is a beast of a song intent on crushing the listener. That breakdown at the end is huge and nasty. Everyone who has reacted to it, whether they're into heavy music or a novice that had it suggested to them, has reacted the same way as you. It's insane.

By the end of the trilogy you'll likely be slightly uncomfortable again, but it's a very different uncomfortable, it's more about a non metal-head being a bit uncomfortable with how much emotion that metal music is capable of generating. Most people think it's just all about death, anger and satanic ideology, but that's just simply not true, I'd suggest having lyrics pulled up on the side for this trilogy to get the full effect of the emotional weight in this song
