Same. Bought mine last week. I measured 57.5cm and thought 'Medium?' no... I'm large. My large Vector 2 fits me perfect. Wow. I was wrong!!! Round oval, medium is the better fit for me.
One note about the breakdown of the helmet. When removing the chin skirt you can go in either direction left or right but move it over about 3/4 of an inch or so and pull out. If you continue to pull out those tabs will deform and lose their ability to hold the skirt in place properly. It’s a small thing that can easily be replaced if broken but it’s an Arai take care of it. This is why you find it easier to remove it when you rotate it around as you said in the video here. Just rotate the whole thing before you try to pull out.
I just bought one today. ive owned an EXO R1 Carbon and been running my X-Eleven for laughs. Both the scorpion and shoei, i barely fit in a medium due to slight pressure points. I bought a quantum X in SMALL and that extra room due to it's internal shape is pretty significant that I was able to downsize a shell.
Arai is the only brand that offers helmets that deviate from the most common intermediate oval head shape. If you are a rider with a round or long oval shape Arai is the way to go. - Van
Just got my diamond black quantum x. It fits amazingly. I love Arai, but I wish there were more round oval options. Arai’s aren’t really money friendly. lol
Ethan Her the pads are Interchangeable so you can move them to other helmets in the Arai line up. I wear the corsair x but I use the pads and liner pads from my quantum x.
Van great review im at that point in my motorcycle career to get a helmet for safety and not looks and features review after review Arai seems to be #1 when it comes to safety. I wish I seen this video 10hrs ago i could have avoided a lot of BS. I had to get a refund because I bought the Signit but after properly educating myself about the different head shapes I found out that the quantum is what will properly fit me i have a small round head. Now I have to wait up to 2 weeks just to get the refund posted to my bank account and then buy the correct lid smh ignorance isnt bliss it costs a lot. Again thx for the info your channel is golden.
Happy to hear you have found the videos to be helpful. For sure with Arai it is important to understand the internal shape before making a purchase. The Signet is not the right helmet for most riders. - Van
Started off with a HJC CL-17... now i wear Arai Quantum X... never going back to anything else... Money doesn’t matter when it comes to saving your head!!!
I have the Quantum-X and it fits great for my round oval head. However, it's definitely a quiet helmet but I'm still getting lots of wind coming up and inside. Cold weather rides are going to freeze my face! Lol. Do they make a deeper chin guard? What else do you recommend because of all the ventilation engineering, it's almost TOO ventilated (even with all of the vents closed).
compared to the LS2, this helmet is so much more comfortable!!! it's unbelievable! also i wore an XXL with the LS2, got a medium. truly impressed! and i tried a shoei and it was very uncomfortable (really hurt my ears taking the helmet off)
Sorry this particular graphic has been closed out and will not be returning. Here is a link to all of the Arai Quantum-X Helmets on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/arai-quantum-x-helmets/
Just bought my first arai RX7X (corsair x), love it. but i have a bit confusion how to install pinlock properly. do we need to rotate the pinlock holder or just leave it as the way it is after installing?
I like to flex the helmet shield when installing the Pinlock insert. Put to towel or t shirt on the table, place the outside of the shield on it and push down on the ends. This will open up the shield and make it much easier to get the insert installed.
Sportbike Track Gear Yes i understand the flexing shield part. but after it settle on the shield do we still need to rotate the black pin kind of thing that hold the pinlock on the shield. because on the pinlock manual i had it has rotate picture but i cannot read the manual since it is in japanese. and google translate fail me to translate it the correct way. 😅
I am from Europe and intermediate oval shape but a lot of helmets are for me too tight in temples area. I tried Arai Concept-X and in my medium size it is little too big. In small size is very snug and still comfortable but it is too small and my head is too low and it is a gap between my head and the top liner. I tried Shoei NXR2 and it is very snug in M size. Fit is better but I have little pressure on the temples. HJC RPHA 70 I don't feel pressure on the temples but it seems not be snug and fit is not good like in Shoei. HJC did not offer change top linner to the thicker one. My head circumference is 57 cm. I did a lot of measurments and typical I have 56,7 cm but when I moved the tape at little angle this resulted with 57 cm. I think that I am between sizes or helmets brand should make better fit in medium size because it is horrible. The best fit I have in my 14 years old helmet KBC VR-1x in medium size. It is still snug and very quiet and without any pressure. It is too old and I tried find something but I can't because I am dissapointed of the fit!
Based on the info you have shared here you need to try on any helmet you are considering before you purchase it. Sounds like your head shape varies a bit from that which most helmets are built to suit. - Van
The Quantum-X has a round shape as compared to the Defiant-X which has an intermediate oval. Intermediate oval is the most common shape and the place I would start. The Regent-x is also a excellent option. - Van
How do the pull tabs work on the top liner. Do they make it more snug or do they raise the helmet higher on the head? How do the stay in the position you choose?
There are 5mm thick peel away segments of foam in the temple area of the crown liner. If the helmet is too tight in this area a rider can peel the layer away to create more room. - Van
Arai Corsair-X, Bell Race Star, Shoei X-14 and Shark Race R Pro are the helmets I would consider. We have reviews on each of them and I feel they are all excellent helmets. - Van
Does the flip up visor serve as a beak (in blocking out high sun) as well in a limited capacity? Will the cheek pads accept Cardo packtalk bold speakers?
I have never installed the Cardo bold speakers but would expect them to fit into the Arai as the helmet has the cutouts for the speakers. There is no molded mount for the mic but I would imagine you can just attach it with the velco patch in the chin bar. - Van
mike 3434 the signet x is Arai’s long oval. There’s a lot of adjustment in the pads, if you need more adjustments other than what’s in the pads it comes with you can buy different pads. The pads have layers you can peel out if you need to.
Signet-X is the long oval from Arai. No other company offers multiple internal shapes. As the other user noted you can also tune the width of the helmet using the peel off layers. If that is not enough you can also replace interior pads with thinner or thicker pads as needed. - Van
