Aratiatia Rapids is one of the most popular natural attractions in the North Island. Aratiatia Dam and the Rapids are on the Waikato river located 13km downstream from Lake Taupo. The dam is opened 3-4 times a day, with thousands of litres of rushing water creating a spectacle popular with visitors to Taupo.
