I would add the importance of stretching in the morning. I have done yoga exercises my whole life and staying limber and fit, are key to not hurting yourself. Also, spacial awareness can save your life. Really check things out. Look for weaknesses, do a root crown inspection prior to going up in the tree. Look for dead snags and hangers. So much that you can say on this subject. I’m almost 70 and I climb daily.
Blair you are right stretching is huge at not getting injured. I stretch every morning and it really works at saving your body. Inspecting trees before you enter is so important. I was on a trimming pre-inspection with a contractor and just before I met one of his employees climbed a small Ever Green Pear and it was rotted at the base his guy went down with the tree. He was okay but shaken. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Bino. One day f the best advises I got(I’m young and only 5 years into my climbing ) was, get yourself positioned to be able to make the best cut possible. And sometimes when you are in the canopy you have to remind yourself of it! Stay safe!

You mentioned footlock. Not many climbers know this. Here is a bit of history from a past climbing competition. Times have changed. Some of these guys were too in the field back then. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XlpcH8YwrxU.html
Yes I remember those days with out it being a secured foot lock. I really enjoy foot and knee ascenders now a days. Thanks for the video I've already watched and it brought back memories.
