This is impressive, minimal gear, quick and easy to install and undo and no more jerky jerky descents using one line on the spar, Awesome bro.

Just started trying a cinch method on a spars for ascent and descent. I just used a Blake’s hitch. The dead pines I really wish I could have slowly belayed down. Wow. Cool video. Thanks, man.

Subbed. This is exactly what I was looking for. Just started climbing my own trees trying to learn on my own. I have 3 trees 130 foot that I need to climb and take down, but have been pondering the thought on decending techniques with an easy removeable system when I start descending about 10 foot to chunk those logs. Good stuff bro.

Good video. A barrel stopper knot on the end, and pull a loop through the ring will sit nicer on the tree. The fig 8 is usefull if your doing DRT and swapping between the two, the ring can be left on there.

I still cinch with a r.bowline. And I usually just buck down to my next cut taking lanyard and lifeline with me and i'll recinch bowline. I'm in FL we don't have super tall trees. I can see it's use for taller spar work. As of lately I've been using my mrs system over the srs. Adjustable friction saver are your friend lol. I like the safety! 🤙

I used this today accept with a spliced eye instead of a Figure 8. It was actually really easy and I had no trouble retrieving it, I had only a 16 ft lanyard that I was using so I had to retrieve it a lot. Excellent tip and made my 3rd climb really fun. Thank you. The only thing I wish was different is if you want to give yourself some rotation hold, it' need to be reversed for the side you want some pull on. I guess that's where an adjustable friction saver would come in, but you have more things that could go wrong in my opinion. I'm new, I got trust issues. I liked this set up.

@@ravenshield7823 yes. They are pricey, but not really when you consider the cost of all the individual components. Something else I usually consider, I’ve had my current pulleySaver for 2 years now, so that initial $200 has ended up being a solid investment.

@@therealzigzagman true. You mean because of the retrieval side?
@therealzigzagman
@therealzigzagman Год назад

@@therealzigzagman I understand but think of emergency situations. You are able to descend while you are belaying yourself but what happens if you only have one working hand or go into a panic mode? Maybe you cramp up or get attacked by bees/hornets or gaff out and break some fingers trying to catch yourself etc etc. Your climbing system won't get you to the ground without additional friction with the hitch. I use the Hitch Hiker 2. Its compact like a regular hitch climber rig but also works on a single line. Something to think about. We always should have a way to the ground that functions on its own. Your flip line is the rope that should have your weight and keep you close to the spar anyways. Main line is there to get to the ground at this point. In any case, i like the crab jam. its quick and effective. thanks for sharing.

That's slick. I try to do the right thing and utilize the notch quickie (as opposed to side loading biner) but I think this is just right. With my srt setup, I can simply drop the rope wrench and keep the hitch climber/prusik and not have so much hanging on my bridge with a more compact setup. Thanks for the share!

Get the Tara link tether from arbsession..version 1 ..with hitch climber pulley and wrench it's almost same size as the akimbo..you will need a 26 inch pursick cord..or 24 ..works great with michocan...or just get the hitchhiker xf...from Richard mumford..then you don't need wrench ..or devices that wear out

if you got a spliced end on the rope can you you just clip it straight to the spilce or should you do a knot
@therealzigzagman
@therealzigzagman Год назад
Yes, you can clip straight to the rope. The only reason I’d prefer a knot over that, is because it keeps the ring on the rope. With only a Splice, the ring can slide off when pulling and repositioning your anchor
