THANK YOU!!!! I have a "situation" and YOU just provided a great clue what to do. I'll be very patient, thoughtful, and careful and use the best rope available, but it's definitely gonna save me a LOT of $$$. (I will not mess up, but if I do, it's totally on ME of course) Thanks again!
I wish you could do raw videos of every tree you cut down I know it's a lot or at least most that would be really cool to see your rigging setups and everything
@@therealzigzagman Thank s for the response. I was just trying to see if your example was while using double rope. I get that is used for cutting down the spar while working down it. I am still learning. Keep the good videos for guys like me.
@@rosskorhummel7306 so it’s not really ddrt or srt. It’s like a reverse rads setup maybe. Not for working off of. Really just good for this one application.
I used this today accept with a spliced eye instead of a Figure 8. It was actually really easy and I had no trouble retrieving it, I had only a 16 ft lanyard that I was using so I had to retrieve it a lot. Excellent tip and made my 3rd climb really fun. Thank you. The only thing I wish was different is if you want to give yourself some rotation hold, it' need to be reversed for the side you want some pull on. I guess that's where an adjustable friction saver would come in, but you have more things that could go wrong in my opinion. I'm new, I got trust issues. I liked this set up.
@@ravenshield7823 yes. They are pricey, but not really when you consider the cost of all the individual components. Something else I usually consider, I’ve had my current pulleySaver for 2 years now, so that initial $200 has ended up being a solid investment.
@@therealzigzagman Oh I totally agree, I'm not exactly in the tree business, it's something that comes up on the farm and I get the opportunity to have some fun learning. I'd like to pick up some jobs in the future but there is a bit of a curve to this art and I appreciate your insight, thanks. Take care man.
Do you have a video explaining the reeve system in detail? As in which ropes perform which functions? And how the piece is lifted and held while being transported?
Nice! The fact that it was a pin oak makes it even more impressive! Those things have hands and will put up a fight all the way to the chipper. Very enjoyable to watch.
Good video. A barrel stopper knot on the end, and pull a loop through the ring will sit nicer on the tree. The fig 8 is usefull if your doing DRT and swapping between the two, the ring can be left on there.
Good video. I like doing that too, but I’ve learned after many years of it, that often it’s better to take it out in smaller pieces. That makes it easier for the groundie to deal with once it’s on the ground. (I typically only have one ground guy).
Yeah if you only got one ground guy, or maybe you’re not fully confident in the rope man’s ability, then you just gotta do what you Gotta do. I work on a lot of job sites where they have machines and things to help manage pieces on the ground, so rigging big is typically more efficient.
I still cinch with a r.bowline. And I usually just buck down to my next cut taking lanyard and lifeline with me and i'll recinch bowline. I'm in FL we don't have super tall trees. I can see it's use for taller spar work. As of lately I've been using my mrs system over the srs. Adjustable friction saver are your friend lol. I like the safety! 🤙
It’s just a run in bowling. This is from like six years ago or something I don’t know. I wasn’t super comfortable working at the time and I didn’t have enough slack to tie. The knot is what it looks like. I was also just learning how to edit.
