Please leave a like and comment if you can, it means a lot. If you’d like a debrief video on how I prepared and conquered this course without any proper route or terrain knowledge, let me know! Also ask any questions you might have! Thanks for all the support! An amazing experience but not to be underestimated!
Can't believe how you managed it in such an amazing time. I ran with a friend from St.Ives to Zennor and back today. I can't imagine how hard that was to complete the Arc
Why dyou do it, d no, have heard that a few times from runners, both of my sons have gained the gold buckle, great coverage and most excellent effort, well done,, I am so proud of my sons,, well done Daniel and Christopher and well done you,, and your crew
Appreciate the kind words and support. Sometimes I'm not sure I how managed to pull the camera out, but know people can relate to the pain and suffering I may be going through and it's good to show this as it's fairly representative of what most people go through during an ultra. Thanks for watching!
Amazing effort Francois. James asked at one point why do you do it? I think this video shows exactly why 👏👏 I will follow in your footsteps one day (if a bit slower!) - I'm pretty sure this race is a piece of me 🙌 Massive congratulations on what you've achieved 👏 can't wait for a full debrief!
I'd love to be there to support when you give this a go! You've got what it takes I'm sure of it. Initial debrief can be this week over beers. I'm working on a race recap video as well though. 🙂
Huge thanks to you for the support and watching! I’m just glad I managed to keep filming, even when it was tough! I want to show the reality of running these races, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows!
I found that tough enough in near perfect weather, can't imagine replicating that in gale force winds and rain! Best of luck in the 100 next year! I'm doing a mini series on how I prepared for this so keep an eye out. Hopefully it helps!
Well done for completing the Arc 100, that’s a real achievement 👏👏 …… A great record of your run brilliantly put together and edited, really captured the event and your effort well 👍
Many thanks! Yes I'm going to do a mini series on how I prepared, trained for and ran this race so keep an eye out! Hopefully it helps or provides an insight to my approach at least. Thanks for the support.
Absolutely outstanding Francois. Great to meet you in the hotel. Unfortunately my race ended quickly with a migraine and sickness after Lizard and I timed out at CP1. Really upset as I always carry my migraine medication and somehow it wasn't in my bag. It was so warm at Coverack compared to HQ, that I changed some clothes and reckon it must have flicked out out of my bag :( You absolutely nailed it and I was glad to see you finish on the livestream. (I was back in Winchester by then!)
Really sorry to hear about your DNF, I can totally see how the 'excitement' of the day caught many people out. Glad you were safe and there's always a next time. Thanks for the support as always
Brilliant running and congratulations on your gold buckle. Your video gave a great account of all your highs and lows of your race and also the hard work that your crew member also puts in. Beautiful views which I’m sure would make it that much more enjoyable (except for the night running) enjoy your recovery 😊
Awesome job. I am training for a 100 mile ultra in August. This helps keep me motivated cuz we do hit rough patches during training and in the race but got to keep push.
Thank you! What race are you doing in August? Best of luck, train hard and you'll the result you're after, ignore the negative thoughts, they always try and creep in!
@@CotswoldTrailRunner In August I will be doing in the Westfield Ultramarathon in New Jersey. It’s a 24hr race. Last year I attempted it and was on great pace to complete it in under 24hrs but ended up with an injury and at 80 miles I had to drop out and got my first DNF. It was my first ever ultra. I never did anything over 12 miles before trying it. But I felt a calling to do it plus i love stepping out the box to challenges. From then ultras have just been on my mind. So this year I will sign up for the same race and redeem myself. To not finish was the worse feeling ever. I never stepped in a race and didn’t finish so this was a learning experience. This time I will be prepared.
Congrats on gritting it out and coming through the other side! This is a race that takes all of your heart and then takes hold of it. I finished last year and DNF’d this year (due to an infected thorn prick of all things!). Even my wife and family who crewed want to return to do it all again next year such is the weekend experience. I think a debrief will be invaluable for anyone thinking of taking this on in future. You have captured the event perfectly with this film 👌
Unlucky this year! You're right though, it's such a great community event! My brother crewing even enjoyed the camaraderie amongst crews and runners. I'm planning a debrief video and mini series on 'Preparing to Perform' so keep an eye out for that soon!
Well done Francois, a great achievement. Such a brilliant video record of the race, I watched all of it. Shout out to James as well. Hope the recovery is going well.
Great achievement - it is a tough course. Great filming too, it gives a good idea as to what the course is like on a good weather year - Cornwall is beautiful. Come back and have another go when the hail is coming sideways at you at 50mph. You will enjoy that too!
What fantastic coverage, the power of the human spirit pushing on through the long night, just such an amazing achievement, not just the final destination but all the long miles and prep that led you to that finish line, thank you for sharing and best wishes from Somerset , 👏
You're very kind! Just sharing my experiences with the world. Glad you enjoyed it, you're right, it's the lead up and preparation that provide an opportunity to succeed. Thanks for watching.
Cracking run Francois, what an amazing day it was, seeing your adventure brought back some more memories, you smashed it. I was a couple of hours behind you. Black buckle next time maybe.
Truly epic Francois & what an awesome account of your adventure, that night section looked brutal, and yes please a summary of the race, kit, challenges etc… would be great 👍
Amazing effort Francois, I've heard how tough the Arc is and it certainly looked it with the unrelenting ups and downs. Great achievement and top job your brother on the crewing side!
Cheers Ben, I reckon you'd do well on this one! It's an experience more than a race! Crew participation, as I found, was so important. Hats off to all the uncrewed finishers. That must've been so much harder alone.
Well done with the race & the edit, it came across really well 👍A stunning route to run & you were so lucky with the weather 😀 Great to see you getting your 2nd wind towards the end, a really big well done to you 👏
Many thanks for the support! Glad I could document the race and include my brothers crewing perspective. Working on a race debrief video if you're interested?
Absolutely mind blowing mate! What an incredible display of grit and determination! Huge kudos to you and also James for doing a top notch job of crewing you too. What a massively inspirational video! Epic! 👏😎🤘🏅
As always, many thanks Ben for your great support both after and during the event. Hearing your shout out on Penzance seafront as I went through was amazing! A real boost.
And you. You were a great pace maker with Sabrina in those first 11 miles! Sorry I didn't drag you with me later on, I've been there and the last thing you need is someone with slightly more energy telling you what to do! I'm so pleased you got it done and in a great time to!
Many thanks, yes the night section went on for a while! I certainly was feeling the effects by daylight but that also brings renewed energy if you can survive!
Fantastic video and amazing performance! I spotted myself in there a few times near the start, but your race went a hell of a lot better than mine. Congrats on the buckle
Many thanks for the kind words. I hope you managed to get it done? It was tough but as the days roll by, I'm already wondering if, one day, I should return?...
Well done, strong running 👍🏻 and an excellent film! I was there but rolled my ankle and had to drop at 53 miles. Certainly need to return and get the Arc done
How did you find the Arc vs LL100? I finished LL100 in this year and entered into the Arc, trying to get an idea timings if I can race with a similar level of fitness.
Hey! Thanks for watching. I think I found the LL100 tougher. The climbs were longer compared to the shorter steeper climbs on the Arc. I did LL100 in 31.5hrs vs Arc 26.5hrs. For the Arc I focussed training on fuelling and pushing the first 25miles so I could get ahead. I’m entered for the Arc 2025 and going for sub 24hrs. I need to get to Lands End in decent shape and avoid nausea/stomach issues this time. Best of luck!
Dream it and it will be. I'm sure you can if you want it enough. I'm doing a mini series on 'Preparing to Perform' so hopefully that will help convince you. 😉
