Sorry if my question sounds a bit silly. I’m new to locksmithing but how is it that you can pick it either way if it’s a thumbturn, and how would you know if it’s a thumbturn before picking? Great vid, thanks
The tip of the key would usually engage the cam. As the key is not present in the lock while the core is turning the cam does not move which allows us to turn the core all the way round then engage the cam from the other side. There is a spring in the back of the keyway.
