Great review, quick and to the point. Not sure if it exists on the jacket, but suprised they don't have a pass holder on the bottom waist of the sabre jacket considering how many resorts now use RFID cards for the lifts.

Note that 2024 model of Rush has an additional chest pocket and no snow skirt. That makes more versatile than the 2023 model.

What are you wearing for a mid layer? I’m 6’1 185-190lbs and I thought the rush and sabre were huge in Large while wearing a T-shirt with a normal fleece when I tried them on.
@WillFaulkner
@WillFaulkner Год назад
Yea they would be to big with just a T-shirt and fleece. I wear a base layer, a fleece, and an insulated mid layer. Sometimes In the extreme cold ill add another fleece too.
@PaulBeiser

Thanks, this was a great comparison. I like how you had them side-by-side when wearing them, and pointing out the key differences. Is the flannel liner extend all the way down the sleeves on the Sabre? Sounds like the Sabre has a bit trimmer fit on the waist, but maybe not enough to make much of a difference, unless I guess you had a puffy on. Finally are they approximately the same length? I could not tell in the video. Again, thanks for a very informative, concise video!

I just bought the same colorway rush jacket on the re-gear arc'teryx site for hundreds in savings...lets hope it's not too scratched up 😂
@WillFaulkner
@WillFaulkner 5 месяцев назад
How’d you find the jacket from re-gear?
@stephenclark15
@stephenclark15 9 месяцев назад
thats not really a fleece, as a fleece would be a material with a long pile length fabric it's just a lining for the jacket. It also has nothing to do with how warm the jacket is, as the protection, and breathability comes down to the outer shell and the Gore-Tex is in the middle of the 3 layers. The gore tex membrane is what gives the jackets the breathability, and waterproofing/protection

Hello, just a question. I have Beta Ar jacket and have it in size M. On the Arcteryx website the sizing chart is the same for Beta AR and Rush. I just want you to confirm, if i use medium in Beta Ar, then i also should pick Medium for Rush Jacket? I am 186 cm and 84 kg, and medium Beta Ar fit very good. Large was way to big for me.
@WillFaulkner
@WillFaulkner 10 месяцев назад
It depends. Do you have room in your Beta AR to layer a puffy underneath? If it can't fit, then I might consider going to a large in the Rush so you have space to layer under for skiiing.

For anyone playing in the BC i think pit zips are one of the most important features of a jacket. Everyone I know slides their arms through those slots to hold on to their poles during ascent. Best feature ever invented for touring/hiking back country imo. Not sure why you would ignore this feature but it looks like the rush has no pit zips which for me = deal breaker. Looks like the Sabre does have pit zips so its an option but I'm not a fan of the separate hood style I like the seamless hood for fit and looks. I snagged the Alpha SV two seasons ago and been loving it.

@PowFairways

Also both the Rush and the Sabre jackets have the same storm hood.
@outlastproductions
@outlastproductions 6 месяцев назад
@@PowFairways Ok take notes, you unzip the pits, then you slide your arms out the sleeves to inside the jacket, then you slip your arms through the pit zip holes, grab your poles and continue hiking with your sleeves dangling off the side of your arms. I usually have my front zip like halfway down too. It's kind of like removing a layer with out removing a layer. You get cold, take out your notes and follow them in reverse. Also make sure to let go of your poles first as it may complicate the process trying to hold them at the same time. Give it a try, you can thank me later:) Works pedaling up hills too.

Do you think you could review the new Sabre SV? I just bought it, and it retails for $900. Im going to be skiing in whistler next year, so I pulled the trigger on the SV because apparently it’s much more protected from the elements then the standard Sabre.
@alexnelson8

The SV has a longer cut at the waist to cover your butt better. It is also 100D vs 80D GoreTex, so it’s a little more durable.

This has nothing to do with Arcteryx but could you recomend a resort ski jacket that's under $500 (max ~$400 with 20/30% discount applied). I'm really just looking for a jacket that I'm gonna be wearing while learning and progressing on skis. The winter is pretty warm where I am, it almost never gets less than 25/30 F (-5/0 Celsius). And when it does I'm usually not going cause of bad visibility. Also I don't even really need a mid layer since i'd be sweating in these temperatures. Currently found a The North Face Descendit Men's jacket but its only $170 (45% off tho) and I don't think a good ski jacket would cost this low even with a 45% OFF. And I'm dissapointed so many people say TNF is garbage now (unless their expensive summit series). Also it's insulated, but I got told to look for something without insulation, and get a mid layer instead. You think getting an insulated jacket but without mid layer is fine for those temperatures?
@WillFaulkner
@WillFaulkner 5 месяцев назад
That jacket would be fine for most people to start skiing, so don’t worry what other people are saying. I used to ski in a north face jacket as well and it was totally fine. You could go for the north face Triclimate. The insulation is removable incase it’s a warm day

@misterfunnybones
@misterfunnybones 8 месяцев назад
I destroyed my rush jacket in 3 seasons (180 days total/60 days per season): split seams & pack abrasion. Warranty granted me purchase price toward any product & I got the alpha & 5 years still functioning well. The warranty is "practical life of garment" which is entirely at their discretion, so I felt rather lucky to get full price product credit. The solid back fabric on the alpha with no seams plus the heavier denier nylon makes all the difference. The alpha is a climbing jacket so the arms are cut for overhead ice & rock climbing, & the Napoleon pockets are designed for harness use.

@@danieloflaherty2154 Personally, at this point I'd go for the Norrona trollveggen Gore-Tex Pro Jacket. When I buy another one this is what I would get as my only hard shell. Other than that, the Beta SV would be my second option. This is assuming you are fine with the cost. Also keep in mind the Norrona is long. Good for skiing but if you're on the shorter side it may be too long. I personally like the length.
