At the Everything Now show in Oakland the other night, Win spoke about how toward the end of the band's first tour (this show and a subsequent one at Bottom of the Hill in SF) he was hoarse and sick and basically wrecked. Still giving it his all though.
Absolutely fantastic show!! I still can't believe they played the Larimer...it's basically a dive bar! The next time they came to town, they sold out Red Rocks. Quite a difference a few years makes.
Well, this was when they were starting out, 2004 was when their first album, Funeral was released. Not nearly as many people knew who they were then as there were the second time they came. When you start out, you have start by playing in small places like clubs and bars. When your success grows and more people know about you and become your fans then you can move on to performing in places like stadiums and concert halls. If you were start out in big places like that you probably wouldn't even sell half the tickets. In order to get bigger, you have to start smaller. But you're right, Arcade Fire did climb the ladder in just a few years.
Oh my God … Bless for this recording of one of the dearest songs of my life … The extreme close up is everything … From seeing Win, Jeremy & Richard playing and singing so close together, to Win screaming like that which is not something he always does … Wow wow wow … Thank you 🧡
Relative to the earlier comments -- I was at this show, and the entire performance had this energy. Larimer Lounge is tiny, you can practically reach up and touch the ceiling, and the show was electric.
You can really, really see the Black Country, New Road in this performance. They said they wanted to be the next Arcade Fire, and you can just see how comparable the all-out passion is in their performances
win is a bit creepy indeed at 3.19, cant see sarah here, don't think shed joined the band this early? had I watched this id have just known something special was going on, you can just feel it in the song
