Hey riddict great video man. Hey just a tip if you wanna try it. First off I have now 37 arcade, a few are originals from the 90s, and 2 full size pinball machines , and then the rest are about 25 arcade 1 ups, and Atgames legends and legends pinball, and iircade. So Ivery familiar with arcades. I watched your last video on the mortal kombat deluxe which was a great video: I bought mine shortly after your video. But I found it to be too wobbly since it didn’t have a riser. It was my first cab with no riser from them. And loved the look, just hated how wobbly it was. So I bought a bag of sand from Home Depot in the concrete section for $3.97 for a 50 pound bag, put that in the back of my MK 2 deluxe and now it pretty much has zero wobble. Just an idea for you or anyone else that might buy the new deluxe style, since there is no riser you definitely get wobble. Just a tip, hope it helps you or anyone else. A $4 dollar fix 👍🏻
Love the channel. Electromechanical Arcade restorer and collector. Grew up going to arcades and played the originals when they were released in late 70s through early 90s. Have 6 A1Us and just started my collection December 2022. Tron, Joust Legacy, Tempest Legacy, Golden Tee 3D, Dragons Lair, Star Wars, Ridge Racer(never played in a arcade), and a 60-1 custom build. Town I grew up in has a very very large Arcade. Pastimes in Girard Ohio. Traveled home this weekend to spend some time with my parents. Spent 8 hours playing the originals that match my A1Us for a comparison. Going to pixx a lot of people off here but really don’t care. I prefer my A1Us. Even the TN monitors are better than the originals. The controls in some cases are better than the A1Us. I’ve upgraded mine recently and it has made a huge difference in game play. The largest difference to me is the sound the originals produce. That will be my focus moving forward on my A1Us regarding sound upgrades. So I want to tell everyone. Find an arcade and play the originals. Our A1Us are much better than they receive credit for. Think most need to play the originals to gain a clear understanding of this point. My nickel conversation on a lot of hate I see regarding this matter.
Ugh, I've got the MK deluxe in the cart, ready to hit the buy button, and then I see this review. Nice cab. It should be the foundation of every arcade collection.
The only thing I will say about the Galaga I noticed was that sometimes when going back and forth if you are not 100% straight in the direction you are trying to go it will not move at all.
I have this cabinet. The only major issue I had whilst assembling were those pesky, little C screws that hold the monitor in place. volume is way too high, and it actually damaged one of my speakers, which crackles now. Should be about 70% lower volume. I had to order a volume attenuator to correct that, and a replacement speaker. Now, it's they way it should be, for the home. Other than that, it's a great cabinet. Finally, we get a much more realistic looking machine. Definitely going or the Pac Man Deluxe cab. Thanks for the review.
Yeah the volume gets crazy. I've never turned mine up past 8. I mean even at 5 it's able to keep up with my real coin ops. So I can tell if you were to crank it, it's going to blow speakers lol. I will address that in an upcoming video 🍻
The lack of support for scan lines is a bit baffling. Does anyone know if a mod can be done to add them? I know it sounds a little nuts (but for academic interest), would an LVDS converter round-tripped with a scanline generator do the trick?
Unfortunately it doesn't pause. Some of the 1up machines do pause by using the Live button, but this one doesn't. They might fix that in a firmware update though. That's the benefit of these being connected to the internet 🍻
Nitpicky question but, when I first turned mine on it had a cool intro. Then it did an update, and now the cool intro is gone. Any thoughts on if they'll push another update to put the cool intro back??
Just bought this today, I feel like the price was right at 499 at BB. Putting together was a little bit of a pain but not to terrible. Can we not pause gameplay?
It saves. The gameplay was recorded first before I filmed anything else and I had not played Ms. Pacman yet at that point in the recording. The rest of the video was recorded later on. It definitely saves the scores. I don't film in order, so I apologize for any misunderstanding there 🍻
Riddict, Was happy you took the time to go over the monitor, thank you for doing that. But unfortunately, you're incorrect when it comes to BOE in general regarding wash out and other orientations. Now I may have mis-heard you, so if I did, I apologize in advance, but I own the Pac-Man Legacy with a BOE monitor and it has NO wash out due to it's straight up and down orientation. No matter what angle I'm looking at the Legacy in, or if I walk away from the machine. It looks great no matter where I stand in the arcade. If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, here's a video tour I did showing the Legacy at many different angles and distances: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9_7kgYH_OHA.html If the BOE in the Deluxe is the same version as in the Namco Pac-Man Legacy, then putting it at that slant in the Deluxe didn't work (at least for me). Other than that, your review is pretty much the only honest one I've seen when it comes to the monitor wash out I was seeing. I actually had to go to my local Best Buy to see these Deluxes in person to see the wash out for myself, because some other reviewers either didn't mention it, even though it clearly showed up on their cameras, or they just said the monitor looked great. And maybe it looked great to them, that's fair, but in my room filled with several arcade machines, I wasn't going to put another eyesore monitor cabinet in my arcade. But one good thing the BOE in the Deluxe thankfully doesn't suffer from are the discoloration issues some of Arcade1up's last year's models had using a different type of monitor. Still, there is NO WAY I'm going to downgrade my Pac-Man Legacy to a Deluxe just to get a couple more games and new cabinet shape. The monitor experience is very important to me and Arcade1up is clearly not using the right monitor for the job when it comes to the slant they wanted to obtain in the Namco Deluxes. There are other skews of BOE, as they are a brand and not a monitor type, which may have been able to handle that extreme angle, but the one Arcade1up chose isn't it. You dig it, so that's all that matters, and I appreciate you taking the time to point out a possible issue for the good folks out here. Cheers! vgv
I'm thinking you are correct about the angle that its mounted in the cab. That combined with the different sku's of monitors. I mean it doesn't bother me simply because when you are playing the games you don't see it at all, but I know that its going to be a deal breaker for some so it had to be pointed out. It's odd, because a few of my cabs with BOE monitors do have a slight wash when viewed from a very high or very low angle. So that's why I said what I said. It just goes to show there's not much consistency in what monitor sku they put in these. I know those XL Golden Tee and NBA JAM cabs were absolutely horrendous with viewing angles. This one isn't nearly as bad as those, but once again it has to be pointed out for those like yourself who aren't going to be a fan of that. I totally understand man. Yeah this cabinet looks sweet, but that input lag still seems the same as the first cabinet. And for me that was a massive turn off. Games were just unenjoyable when there's that much lag. I had to end up selling mine unfortunately for the issue. I don't think I'll be getting this one for that reason but the cabinet looks amazing.
I honestly didn't notice any lag on this cabinet. Now the Mortal Kombat Deluxe cab is a different story. However they fixed the lag on that one with a recent update. I have no issue playing any of these games on this cab. Maybe it was fixed? I have no idea because I've never owned the previous Class of 81'. But if you see lag, then I guess it's there? That's impressive you can see lag when you can't see my hands on the control panel. Amazing. 🍻🤘 I don't notice any, but hey that's just me. Maybe I got used to it. 🤷
@@looseends-_-2132 Yeah I didn't notice any at all on Galaga. I can always do another video showing everything clearly and also actually playing the game to win, instead of just a quick demo. I can also do clear fluid slow mo footage to see exactly how much delay there is between joystick movement/button presses to screen. Considering I've played A LOT of Galaga since the 80's, I would probably notice, but hey who knows. I noticed right away on the Mortal Kombat cab. We will get to the bottom of it and you will know for 100 percent sure to leave no doubt. If it's there, then there you go. 🍻
Maybe it's the difference in casual players who just aren't attuned to zero input lag play. For me it's damn near unplayable with this level of lag. We're not talking hundredths of a second lag, were talking .5 seconds lag. An eternity when playing arcade games. If you'e going to make a cab with COMPETETIVE online leaderboards then it should be tuned for competitive play, not casual. The fact this was allowed to release in this shape I feel, is personally disgraceful. I feel totally scammed to have bought this cabinet.
To be fair the cabinet quality is significantly improved compared to the early models. Also, there are always sales on these and you can usually find deals around the $400 mark or less. I always suggest waiting for the sales. 🍻
It’s to bad you didn’t get the Ms Pac-Man galaga original sound I own that arcade machine since 2005 brand new costed $3,000 after you lose all your lives you can continue where you left off arcade 1 up isn’t doing their job right I know people like you who haven’t played on the full size arcade machines don’t really know when you get cheated just like teenage mutant ninja turtles arcade 1 up they messed us up the theme song sounds different if you press the button you won’t hear April or shredder talking that’s why I watch on RU-vid to see how the run and play I don’t want to be cheated like I did on teenage mutant ninja turtles you should of bought the Ks Pac-Man arcade 1 up deluxe instead your not getting cheated on that one or the Pac-Man deluxe when it’s Ms Pac-Man galaga it’s a whole different Ms Pac-Man and Pac-Man Galaga you can play Pac-Man also
I appreciate what you're saying, but I worked for several years as an Arcade/coin op repair/service man. I originally started that gig back in 1999. I have several full size original coin op arcade machines in my collection, not just these 1ups. If you take a look around my channel, you will see this. I do not own the original Class of 81 machine, but I'm aware of the little things that are missing. They aren't enough to sway me on a $400 novelty machine. I just like collecting them. I don't know if you think I'm young, but I'm definitely not. Sure wish I was! I've been around Arcades since 1981 my guy. I do have a Babyface appearance and I used to think it was a curse, but now I appreciate it as I approach the big 50! I know what you're saying, and I'm very aware of everything you mentioned. When I make these videos I always forget to mention something, so it really just boils down to that. If it's a game I religiously played and view as one of my top 3, I most likely would mention those things. With this one, it just didn't bother me because the games all play great. I noticed the problem with Turtles right away. So yeah, I do realize these things. I make videos for entertainment, and I give my thoughts on things. If I miss something or I don't mention something, then it didn't bother me enough to mention it. But I totally understand why it would bother some people. That's like buying an Asteroids machine that's an emulation and being displayed on a raster monitor. If it's not an original Vector monitor It's just not worth the time of day. So yeah, I get it. 🍻
@@RCArcade if your really serious in owning the best Pac-Man arcade machine you would then buy the Pac-Man pixel one has a cooler you out your drinks in the other is a cocktail the upright that takes money you at least get more games then arcade 1 up is giving you which is every year they add extra 2 games it’s going to take about 6 more years or 10 years to catch up to where Pac-Man pixel is almost 40 games better joystick louder sound I buy arcade machines they are what better then arcade 1 up but I don’t anymore arcade machines that was released in the “80’s they break over and over no stop hopefully arcade 1 up will release those games that never got released on consoles
